The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the 12 venues where matches will be played in the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup, which will be played in southern Africa for the first time in 24 years.
South Africa will host the majority of the 54 matches, at eight venues in Johannesburg, Centurion, Durban, Gqeberha, KuGompo City, Cape Town, Paarl and Bloemfontein. The final is likely to be staged at either Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium or Newlands in Cape Town.
Zimbabwe will play between seven and 10 matches in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. Namibia will also be part of the event with Windhoek hosting at least three of the matches.
The last time the ODI World Cup was in Africa was in 2003 when it was co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Since then South Africa has hosted numerous ICC events including the first ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023 and both the ICC Under 19 Men’s and Women’s World Cups.
Namibia will host a senior ICC tournament for the first time. The country had also co-hosted the Men’s Under 19 World Cup with Zimbabwe earlier this year.
The 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup is scheduled to be held from October 4 to November 21, 2027.
