India’s 2026 tour of Bangladesh may see yet another delay, as BCB president Tamim Iqbal says talks with the BCCI are still ongoing. The white-ball series is scheduled to start on September 3, but the dates might be altered if the boards reach a new agreement.

The tour was first scheduled for August 2025, then pushed to September 2026. Bangladesh had announced a schedule comprising three ODIs and three T20Is in Dhaka and Chattogram. However, there is still no official announcement from the BCCI regarding the tour.

Schedule changes possible for India tour of Bangladesh 2026

With just two weeks to go for the first ODI, doubts have now been cast over whether India will travel to Bangladesh as scheduled. Tamim Iqbal said the two boards were still in discussion about the series and indicated the dates could be changed.

“Both the boards are talking about the India series still,” Tamim said to Cricinfo’s Mohammad Islam. He said the timing could be moved depending on the final decision.

The BCB has also shown that it can alter its Game Development Trophy schedule if necessary. The age group tournament will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from August 28 to September 9. “If the India series is confirmed, then the matches could be shifted to the Basundhara ground at short notice,” said Tamim.

The relations between BCB and BCCI had turned sour after Kolkata Knight Riders withdrew Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL season. The BCB later decided against sending its team to the T20 World Cup being co-hosted by India & Sri Lanka, where they demanded to play its entire scheduled matches in Sri Lanka due to security concerns.

The last couple of weeks have been more encouraging. Tamim travelled to India earlier this month and reportedly visited the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Both boards are still deliberating, and a final decision on the tour to India is yet to be made.
