Jasprit Bumrah has passed his fitness test and has been declared fit for India’s upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Harshit Rana suffered another injury during his rehabilitation and has been replaced with Yash Thakur in the squad.

Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar were part of India’s initial squad for the Afghanistan T20Is, but their participation was subject to fitness clearance. All three players have now been cleared to play and will be available for the three-match series starting on September 13.

Jasprit Bumrah fit and ready to go for upcoming T20Is

Bumrah sat out of India’s third ODI against England in July and was also not part of the squad for the two Tests against Sri Lanka. He re-injured his left knee and needed more time to recover.

His return will be a major boost to India’s bowling attack going into the Asian Games. But another setback has come in the recovery of Harshit Rana. The pace bowler was in excellent form at the BCCI Center of Excellence but suffered a fresh injury during a match simulation.

The official BCCI press release said, “He was making steady progress in his rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE). He strained his rectus femoris while bowling in a match simulation on September 7th and has been ruled out since then.”

In the absence of Rana, Yash Thakur has been included in the squads for the Afghanistan T20Is and Asian Games. He made his debut at the age of 27 in India’s T20I series against Zimbabwe in July. He played two matches and took two wickets in each.

India’s Updated Squad for Asian Games & Afghanistan Series
