Cricket News: List of the highest T20I scores by India | What is the highest score by Team India in T20 Internationals?

India achieved their first T20I series win at home against South Africa in October 2022 after hitting one of their highest ever scores in Guwahati. It was a terrific display of batting, which can only help increase confidence ahead of the World Cup.

Where does India’s 227/3 rank among their highest ever scores? Let’s take a look.

Highest T20I scores by India

260/3 vs Sri Lanka, Indore, 2017

The night Rohit Sharma went on a rampage. During his 43-ball 118, there were calls, and even expectations, that T20 cricket will see its first ever double century after Rohit’s exploits in ODI cricket. It wasn’t to be in the end, but it was an innings to remember, alongside KL Rahul’s 89 off 49 balls.

Sri Lanka, despite a handy score of 172, still fell a mammoth 88 runs short of India’s 260.

244/4 vs West Indies, Lauderhill, 2016

One of the all-time T20I classics. India smashed 244/4 but still lost to West Indies after Evin Lewis’ superb 49-ball 100. Rohit Sharma (63 off 28 balls) and KL Rahul (110* off 51 balls) were the chief contributors once again, but it wasn’t quite enough to deliver victory in this clash.

240/3 vs West Indies, Mumbai, 2019

West Indies were on the end of a big total once again by India, this time in Mumbai in 2019. With the series level at 1-1, the duo of Rohit Sharma (71 off 34 balls) and KL Rahul (91 off 56) once again lit the stage, followed by Virat Kohli’s magnificent 70* off 29 balls.

In the end, India’s score of 240 was far too many for Kieron Pollard’s team, who fell short by 67 runs.

227/3 vs South Africa, Guwahati, 2022

Guess who led the way once again? Yes, Rahul and Rohit. With pressure growing on KL regarding his strike rate, he kicked off the Guwahati T20I against South Africa on a mission. His 57 off 28, combined with Rohit’s 43 off 37, got India to 96/0 off 9.4 overs.

From there, Virat Kohli (49 off 28) and the magnificent Suryakumar Yadav (61 off 22 balls) took India to 237/3, a total that was 16 too many for South Africa despite David Miller’s superb hundred.

Also, in this match, Suryakumar Yadav reached the 1,000 run mark in T20Is at an unbelievable strike rate of 175.

225/7 vs Ireland, Dublin, 2022

Deepak Hooda smashed a memorable 104 off 57 balls. Sanju Samson was also terrific with his 42-ball 77. India’s total of 225/7 was surely going to be too many for Ireland, especially given the tourists had a great record in the country.

However, Ireland came within four runs of a famous win. Paul Stirling (40 off 18), Andy Balbirnie (60 off 37) and George Dockrell (34* off 16) took the home side close, but India left with a sigh of relief.
