Mitchell Starc has moved to the top of the ICC men’s Test bowling rankings for the first time, overtaking India’s Jasprit Bumrah. Starc moved from third to first after taking match figures of 10/51 in the second Test against Bangladesh in Mackay.

Since the start of July 2025, Starc has taken 54 wickets at an average of 16.24. No bowler has taken more Test scalps in this period, with Josh Tongue (46 wickets at 27.04) and Mohammed Siraj (42 wickets at 23.93) the next highest.
“A much better week. We knew we were not at our best in Darwin,” Starc said after Australia’s series-levelling win in Mackay.
“Bangladesh played really well. Take nothing away from them there. What we expected from ourselves this week is what we got particularly with the ball on a wicket that aided us with the ball.”
Pat Cummins moved one spot to fourth after taking 3/25 and 3/10 in the Mackay Test. Cummins touched speeds of 140km/h in Bangladesh’s second innings after operating in the low 130s in Darwin.
Elsewhere, Ollie Robinson has risen 15 spots to 11th after taking eight wickets against Pakistan. Josh Tongue, who also took eight wickets, moved from 33rd to 17th.
Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando and Prabath Jayasuriya each moved five spots to 15th and 16th respectively following the first Test against India in Galle.
