In perhaps the worst-kept secret of the month, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have officially completed their Rishabh PantKuldeep Yadav trade for the IPL 2027 season. Pant has been traded for INR 15 crore, a paycut from the INR 27 crore he was on at LSG. The corresponding figure for Kuldeep is his current fee of INR 13.5 crore.

DC-LSG trade can bear fruit for Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav

Both Pant and Kuldeep had difficult seasons in IPL 2026. Pant’s time at LSG, which came with such a huge pricetag, was filled with difficult moments, most notably at the very end where he seemed flustered both on the field and speaking to the media. The former LSG captain managed 312 runs in the recently-concluded season at a strike rate of 138.05, with just one fifty. Kuldeep took 10 wickets at an average of 38.10 and economy rate of 10.29.

The change in environment can work wonders for both players. Kuldeep can wreak havoc in Lucknow, while Pant returns to DC, where he played between 2016 and 2024.

Parth Jindal, Managing Director at DC’s co-owner JSW Group, was thankful to Kuldeep for his contributions.

“Dear Kuldeep thank you for your service over the last 5 years @DelhiCapitals you have been a core part of our team and you will be sorely missed. Go well – you are a champion player and i am sure you will do extremely well back in your home ground. Rishabh – Kiran and I are both happy to have you back at DC. Hope you can find your best form back home in Delhi,” Jindal wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

DC also sent tributes to Kuldeep via their official social media account.

Sangita Jindal, Chairperson at JSW Foundation, wrote of her excitement at Rishabh Pant returning to DC.

“Welcome back, @RishabhPant17. It was never quite the same without you in blue. @DelhiCapitals feels whole again — excited for what this next chapter holds, for you and for us,” she wrote.

LSG also tweeted “Thank you Rishabh for all the memories” as the keeper-batsman aims to seek his best form at DC.
