Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are building a strong bowling attack for the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL), trading in Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis from Chennai Super Kings (CSK). As confirmed by iplt20.com, Khaleel and Ellis are part of a four-player trade with Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards off to CSK.
SRH acquired Khaleel and Ellis for their existing fees of INR 4.8 crore and 2 crore respectively. Both will add to SRH’s bowling stocks given both offer value at different stages of the innings.
Khaleel, Ellis form part of a promising bowling core for SRH
Since the start of IPL 2024, Khaleel Ahmed has taken the sixth-most wickets in the powerplay (20), conceding a respectable 8.69 in this phase.
Nathan Ellis offers SRH extra depth in the death-bowling department. The franchise now has quite a few options to turn to with the likes of T Natarajan, Harshal Patel, Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain capable of delivering in the final four overs. In fact, Sakib bowled 12 overs at the death in IPL 2026 and conceded just 8.92 per over.
Such is SRH’s bowling depth now that Pat Cummins’ potential absence in IPL 2027 might not be as big a blow as previously feared. Here is a look at their key pace-bowling options ahead of the auction:
- Pat Cummins.
- Khaleel Ahmed.
- T Natarajan.
- Nathan Ellis.
- Sakib Hussain.
- Eshan Malinga.
- Harsh Dubey.
- Praful Hinge.
- Harshal Patel.
Khaleel is a familiar face for SRH fans having played for the franchise between 2018 and 2021.
