Twitter reactions: Mithali Raj becomes highest-ever women’s run-scorer | Twitter reactions as Mithali Raj becomes the highest-ever run-scorer in women’s cricket

India’s victory in the third ODI against England was extra sweet for one special reason. Mithali Raj, a great of Indian cricket, became the most prolific women’s batter in the history of the game. During her superb, match-winning knock of 75*, Raj went past the great Charlotte Edwards’ record of 10,273 international runs, much to the joy of millions of fans around the globe.

Also, Mithali joins Sachin Tendulkar as the most prolific run-scorers in women’s and men’s international cricket respectively. And, incredibly, both made their debuts at exactly the same age (16 years, 205 days). Like Tendulkar, Mithali has enjoyed a superb career spanning more than two decades, and she will hold the record for quite some time as the next-highest international run-scorer behind Edwards is New Zealand’s Suzie Bates with 7,849 runs.

The Indian skipper received deserved praise from all corners of the world, particularly her home country. Fans praised her longeivity and consistency in a career that has life in it yet. Here are some of the Twitter reactions to Mithali Raj reaching a terrific milestone, including Charlotte Edwards herself:
