Cricket News: Twitter reactions: NZ rolled for 62 after Ajaz Patel takes all 10 | India roar after Ajaz Patel becomes 3rd Test cricketer to take 10

Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions. Soon after he became the third bowler in Test history to take all 10 wickets in an innings, Ajaz Patel was soon strolling out with New Zealand in the depths of 62/9.

And he was then bowling again before the day’s end.

In a wonderful moment, Mumbai-born Patel became the third cricketer after Anil Kumble and Jim Laker to take all 10 wickets in a Test innings. That too at the Wankhede. It was an excellent display of spin bowling, with Patel’s 47.5 overs costing just 119 in the process.

But that’s where the good news ended for the Black Caps. After their fighting effort in Kanpur, the New Zealanders had no answers for India’s all-round attack, falling prey to both pace and spin to fold for just 62 – the lowest score ever by any team in India in Tests.

Mohammed Siraj made an immediate impact on his Test return, sending a reminder of his remarkable qualities. On a pitch where the excellent Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson have struggled for penetration, Siraj made it look like Perth in an outstanding display of pace bowling. His delivery to dismiss Ross Taylor was the highlight, showcasing his ability to take the ball away from the bat in addition to that killer off-cutter.

After that, it was simply a matter of time. Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel made use of the turn on offer thanks to impeccable lengths that left the Kiwi batsmen nowhere. Unable to smother the spin or be able to go back safely, the Black Caps offered numerous catches to the close in fielders to all-but-surrender the series.

India didn’t enforce the follow on, giving Mayank Agarwal a chance to build on his truly magnificent 150 in the first innings, which accounted for 47.62% of India’s total.
