Former Indian cricketer and one of the legends of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ambati Rayudu, believes that Rajasthan Royals’ opener Yashasvi Jaiswal should change his franchise going forward.
Talking on the TimeOut show on ESPNcricinfo, Rayudu said that with the rise of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and all the hype around him considering how he’s performing, Jaiswal will have to live under his shadow if he continues with the Royals.
Rayudu says Jaiswal should leave RR amid Sooryavanshi storm in IPL 2026
“He (Yashasvi) needs to change his team because he just cannot bat with the guy (Sooryavanshi) and be overshadowed every single time,” Rayudu said. “He’s a star in his own. If he goes to another team, he will win games on his own. He needs that space and the platform.
“Because this guy (Sooryavanshi) will keep overshadowing people. And it has to be a senior partner alongside him who can deal with it, be happy for him and what’s happening, and not be in a contest with your non-striker or striker. You can’t compete with him,” the former MI and CSK player concluded.
Rayudu also said that the Mumbai Indians will be a great fit for Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has blown away the ongoing edition of the IPL with his fearless batting and unreal six-hitting. His performances have left fans and experts puzzled about his ability and what he can achieve going forward.
The 15-year-old is currently the Orange Cap holder with 680 runs at a whopping strike rate of 242.86 and an average of 45.33. He has four fifties, including two 90+ scores and a century to his name.
Sooryavanshi broke Gayle’s record for most sixes (59) in an edition of the IPL, with 65 to his name as of May 28. Also, his 680 runs is the highest for an uncapped player in the history of the IPL. Fans have labelled him the ‘Baby Boss’ considering how dominating he has been at such a young age.
