NZ vs PAK Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: NZ Tri-Series Match 2 | NZ vs PAK Dream11 Prediction Today | Christchurch Pitch Report
T20 World Cup preparation continues to heat up in chilly Christchurch as Pakistan look to build on their first up win yesterday, this time against New Zealand. The Black Caps, who often feature in the business end of World Cups, will be seeking to gain important momentum ahead of the big tournament, with this Tri-Series the perfect opportunity to gain form and confidence.
In terms of Pakistan, their victory against Bangladesh was comfortable in the end, but did the match tell us anything different about Babar Azam’s team? The middle order underwhelmed once again, with Rizwan’s ability to bat deep enabling them to reach 167/5. One still gets the feeling that if the Black Caps can pick up early wickets in the powerplay, Pakistan might not have the form in the middle order to recover.
Indeed, that will be the focus for New Zealand today, along with runs for the likes of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson. Both have been under-par in 2022, so finding form right before the World Cup can be a big boost. With Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips and Finn Allen promising plenty, the Black Caps can go into the showpiece tournament with a well-rounded and confident batting lineup.
NZ vs PAK Possible Playing XI
Daryl Mitchell is out of the tri-series with a fractured finger. Mitchell Santner will join the squad over the weekend after the birth of his first child last week.

Pakistan could look to stick with the same XI that prevailed over Bangladesh yesterday.

NZ vs PAK Head-to-Head Stats & Key Players
New Zealand:
- Spotlight is on Martin Guptill after what has been an indifferent run of form recently. He has the most runs for New Zealand against Pakistan, with 526 in 19 matches at an average of 29.22 and strike rate of 133.84.
- Devon Conway smashed 99* on this ground against Australia last year. Against Pakistan, the left-hander has scored one half-century in three T20I innings.
- Glenn Phillips has struck the most T20I runs for New Zealand in 2022 (319). The keeper-batsman is averaging 53.16 with a superb strike rate of 145.00.
- In T20s at Hagley Oval, Phillips has scored 143 runs in five innings at an average of 28.60 and strike rate of 115.32.
- James Neesham’s strike rate is 207.60 in T20Is this year. Between overs 16 and 20, this bumps up to 232.9 (184 runs off 79 balls).
- However, Neesham has historically struggled against Pakistan (31 runs in five innings), so whether he can turn this around here will be interesting to see.
- Michael Bracewell will be key if Mitch Santner is unavailable. The all-rounder is striking at 206.97 with the bat in T20Is this year. He has also taken nine wickets in six innings. Given the spinners found some grip yesterday, Bracewell could enjoy bowling at Hagley Oval.
- Tim Southee has an excellent record against Pakistan. The seamer has taken 24 wickets in just 14 matches at an average of 16.50 and strike rate of 14.0.
- Trent Boult, on the other hand, has poor numbers against Pakistan (7 inns, 4 wickets, avg. 62.25, SR 40). But, he has the class and ability to turn this around.
Pakistan:
- Mohammad Rizwan continues to amaze. He has made just one single digit score in 13 T20Is in 2022, with eight fifty-plus scores. This includes a match-winning 78* vs Bangladesh yesterday.
- Babar Azam vs New Zealand: 7 inns, 244 runs, avg. 40.66, SR 118.44.
- Shan Masood is also key at the top for Pakistan given their middle order worries. He has scored 1,212 runs in 33 T20 innings this year at a strike rate of 138.19 and average of 40.40.
- Haris Rauf has taken an impressive nine wickets in just four T20Is vs New Zealand at an average of 14.88 and strike rate of 10.6. He has dismissed Martin Guptill twice in nine balls in T20Is.
- Mohammad Nawaz enjoyed the conditions at Hagley Oval yesterday. He took 2/25.
- Shadab Khan vs New Zealand: 10 matches, 9 wickets, avg. 28.33, econ. 6.89. He takes a wicket every 24.6 balls on average. But, he is one to watch given he found some spin yesterday.

Hagley Oval Christchurch Pitch Report and Weather
The players will have to deal with very cold conditions in this night game. A temperature of about 5 degrees is expected at night, with some cloud cover. No rain is forecast, though.
So, it remains to be seen whether there will be dew, because the captain who wins the toss may choose to bat. In the last 11 T20s on this ground dating back to the start of the Super Smash in December, the team batting first has won nine, including Pakistan yesterday. The average first innings score in these matches is 157.90.
