NZ vs SA 1st T20 2026 Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report

A week after the T20 World Cup Final, New Zealand take on South Africa in the first of five T20Is. The timing and context of this series has been questioned by fans, but this represents an opportunity for fringe players to stake their claim to be first-choice in the future.

The likes of Tim Robinson and Nick Kelly will be looking to make an impression for New Zealand, as will the quick Ben Sears who can provide middle overs impact for the Black Caps. Among the inexperience, the hosts will still be led by the experienced Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway, with James Neesham and Ish Sodhi also in the squad.

For South Africa, this is an opportunity for some of their SA20 stars to show their worth on the international stage. Jordan Hermann is one to watch, while the spotlight is also on Jason Smith after he was withdrawn from South Africa’s World Cup squad. On the bowling front, Ottenil Baartman, Lutho Simpala and Gerald Coetzee provide wicket-taking potential with George Linde and Keshav Maharaj tasked with keeping things tight.

NZ vs SA 1st T20 2026 Possible Playing XIs

New Zealand have a number of new players in their squad, but still possess experience. Mitchell Santner, Devon Conway and Lockie Ferguson are available for the first three T20Is.

Bay Oval Mount Maunganui Pitch Report and Weather

Since 2023, the average first innings score in men’s T20Is at Mount Maunganui is 170.83. Teams batting first and second have won three matches each in this period.

Expect decent batting conditions in this match with some assistance for the opening bowlers with the new ball. A clear night is forecast with temperatures to hover in the late teens.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for NZ vs SA 1st T20 2026: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Top wicketkeeper picks:

  • Devon Conway will likely open the batting, making him a solid pick. In four T20I innings on this ground, Conway has 91 runs at an average of 30.33 and strike rate of 144.44, including a fifty.

Key batter picks:

  • Tony de Zorzi is one of South Africa’s key players, but this will be just his third T20I. Also, he averages just 19.53 with a strike rate of 119.26 in 78 T20s. However, he is worth considering for Dream11 given he will bat in the top three.
  • Tim Robinson has a century in T20Is at Mount Maunganui, achieved against Australia last year. He had a poor Super Smash campaign (135, avg. 19.28, SR 140.62) but is capable of making an impact.
  • It’s a big series for Jason Smith after a poor SA20 campaign.. He has potential to strike big blows in the middle order (26 off 10 balls in his last T20I, against West Indies).

Top allrounder picks:

  • Mitchell Santner has the third-most wickets in men’s T20Is on this ground (13) at an average of 23.61 and economy of 7.61. Also, since the start of 2025, Santner has smashed 362 runs in T20Is at an average of 40.2 and strike rate of 163.1.
  • Wiaan Mulder will likely bowl in the powerplay and provide all-important impact with the bat, although he couldn’t get going in the SA20 earlier this year (137, avg. 13.70, SR 117.09).

Key bowler picks:

  • Ottneil Baartman took the most wickets in the SA20 2026 season (20) at an average of 13.55 and strike rate of 8.90.
  • Lockie Ferguson had a forgettable T20 World Cup Final, but he is a strike bowler. He has eight wickets in T20s this year at a strike rate of 18.1.
  • Gerald Coetzee’s hit-the-deck bowling style can work well with Mount Maunganui’s larger boundaries. He took four wickets at a strike rate of 16.5 in his short SA20 campaign.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Bevon Jacobs is selected in 15.35% of Dream11 teams, but can be an excellent pick. Jacobs hit five consecutive fifties (78*, 88*, 53, 54 and 55) in the 2025/26 Super Smash.
  • George Linde can provide lower-order batting impact and will get through four overs.
  • Jordan Hermann is also a player to watch. He hit the eighth-most runs in SA20 2026, scoring 273 runs at an average of 34.12 and economy of 137.18.
  • Cole McConchie can be a useful option for New Zealand against a South African top order featuring a few left-handers.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head in T20Is: Matches 20, New Zealand 8, South Africa 12.
  • Keshav Maharaj is set to become the 15th player to play 50 men’s T20Is for South Africa.
  • Bevon Jacobs in the 2025/26 Super Smash: 6 inns, 361 runs, avg. 90.25, SR 164.84.

KKR sign Blessing Muzarabani for IPL 2026 season

Three-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), have announced the signing of Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani ahead of IPL 2026

Muzarabani was earlier set to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the Islamabad United, but withdrew from the PSL and will feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Earlier, the BCCI had asked the Kolkata Knight Riders to release Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman, whom they’ve bought for INR 9.20 crores in the auction, due to political tension between India and Bangladesh.

Interestingly, Mustafizur will now feature in the PSL for the Lahore Qalandars. Muzarabani went unsold in the IPL auction, and he was not picked up by any side in the PSL as well before he joined Islamabad as a replacement for West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph.

Blessing’s stocks were already high after a phenomenal performance in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where he picked up 13 wickets in 6sixgames at an economy of 7.88 and strike rate of 11. He picked up a 4-wicket haul (4/17) against Australia in a man-of-the-match performance.

KKR’s pace bowling concerns for IPL 2026

KKR had signed Matheesha Pathirana in the IPL 2026 auction for a whopping price of INR 18 crore, but he’s currently recovering from injury, and it’s not sure whether he’ll play in IPL 2026 or not.

Harshit Rana is also injured and will miss IPL 2026. Apart from these two, the Knight Riders have Akashdeep, Umran Malik, and Kartik Tyagi in their ranks alongside Vaibhav Arora.

Vaibhav has been a key member of the KKR side in the last couple of seasons, but he’s mainly a new-ball bowler, and other options are not very promising for them. While Muzarabani adds some depth to their pace attack, their bowling still looks light.

Also, it will be a big headache for KKR with regards to selecting overseas players, as Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Cameron Green, and Sunil Narine are already there.

Cheteshwar Pujara on where MS Dhoni should bat for CSK

MS Dhoni’s batting position has been the talk of the town for the last two seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He only comes to bat in the last 1-2 overs and tries to capitalise on the remaining deliveries.

While this is the role Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have decided on for him, many people have argued that he should come up the order and bat freely. Indian Test legend Cheteshwar Pujara has now said that he doesn’t see any point in MS Dhoni batting at numbers 8 or 9 and he should come up in the batting order.

Pujara said on JioHotstar, ‘No other batter can do what Dhoni can in the Chennai Super Kings setup. I don’t see any point in him batting at numbers 8 or 9 considering he can turn any game on his own’.

He further added that ‘Dhoni has the ability to turn the game from any situation, and he’s hitting sixes when he plays 8-10 deliveries, so imagine what he can do if he plays 25-30 deliveries.’

Former Indian legend Anil Kumble said that ‘Dhoni should come to bat in the last four overs where the teams don’t have many overs of spin left.’

CSK’s middle-order headaches: Pujara believes Dhoni needs to face more deliveries

This time the Chennai Super Kings have the likes of Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Sarfaraz Khan, Kartik Sharma, Prashant Veer, and even Aman Khan in their ranks alongside Dhoni. They can also play Urvil Patel in the middle order if they want.

It’s going to be a big headache for them as whom to play in the middle order, as they’ve paid big bucks for inexperienced players like Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer, while Sarfaraz Khan also had a blistering season in the last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).

With Sanju Samson, Ayush Mhatre, and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad locked in as their top 3, it’ll be interesting to see what middle-order combination CSK goes for, as Brevis and Dube are the other two locked-in players. It may happen that Dhoni does come out early to bat, or he can continue with his role from the last season.

Salman Agha Mehidy Hasan Miraz run out – fair or poor sportsmanship?

There is controversy in the ODI series between Bangladesh and Pakistan. Salman Agha was run out in unusual fashion by Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the second ODI in Mirpur, which left the Pakistan batter furious.

Pakistan were sitting pretty at 231/3 in the 39th over, with Agha (64) and Mohammad Rizwan (44) building on Maaz Sadaqat’s outstanding 46-ball 75. Rizwan hit the ball back towards the non-striker, and Agha and Miraz got into a bit of a tangle. With the ball still live, Agha then went to pick the ball up while still outside his crease, only to be beaten to the punch by Mehidy who then threw the ball at the stumps.

The decision was referred to the third umpire. Replays showed Agha well outside his ground, with Kumar Dharmasena stating “batsman is out of the ground at the time of the wickets break.”

Salman Agha run out: Fair or against the spirit of cricket? Fans have their say

The incident quickly went viral on social media. Fans have had their say, with some believing it is a fair dismissal within the rules, and others stating it is poor sportsmanship.

Argument: Fair dismissal

About two-and-a-half years ago, Bangladesh were involved in drama during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shakib Al Hasan timed out Angelo Mathews – a decision that did not go down well in the cricketing fraternity, including then-bowling coach Allan Donald.

This time around, the debate is more 50/50. The view here is that Agha should not have attempted to pick the ball up while out of his ground.

“On the live camera shot, I thought this was naughty by Miraz. But seeing the side on replay, it was actually Salman Agha with the brain fade. You can’t be reaching to pick up the ball when you’re that far out of the non-striker’s crease and then cry spirit of cricket,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

Argument: Poor sportsmanship & Agha initially attempted to get back in the crease

On the flip side, the argument is Agha initially attempted to get back in his crease, but was blocked by Mehidy getting to the ball. Given there was a tangle, fans believe that the Bangladesh captain was wrong to initiate the run out and go through with the appeal.

“Mehidy Hasan Miraz forcefully stopped Salman Ali Agha, as clearly seen in this picture. When a player is stopped like this, the umpire should take notice, and the player has the right to ask for it,” wrote one fan.

From 231/3, Pakistan collapsed to 274 all out. However, they started magnificently with the ball, reducing Bangladesh to 27/3 before lightning stopped play.

Mixed reactions after Sunrisers Leeds buy Abrar Ahmed in the Hundred Auction

A big talking point sparked when the Sunrisers Leeds bought Pakistani spinner Abrar Ahmed for $255,000 during The Hundred 2026 auction. Abrar became the first Pakistani player to be picked up by an Indian franchise in the auction.

India fans were visibly enraged after the move, as Abrar is accused of mocking the Indian army, the people, and pilot Abhinandan Varthaman from a tense incident between the two countries back in 2019.

The Pakistani spinner also posted a video as recent as last month, which was not taken well by the Indian fans on social media.

Reactions: India fans make feelings clear after Sunrisers Leeds bought Abrar Ahmed in the Hundred Auction

Calls to boycott Sunrisers from India

Amidst all this, India fans expressed their frustration with Sunrisers picking up Abrar Ahmed. Many fans called it a heartbreak, while some labeled it as a betrayal from the franchise.

Here are some of the reactions from the fans:

Many fans have called for the boycott of the Sunrisers franchise in the IPL, too, following the move. Franchise owner Kaviya Maran also got a lot of heat from the fans following the auction.

Head coach Daniel Vettori stated that it became a necessity for them to get an overseas spinner (including Abrar) after they missed out on Adil Rashid, who was their main target.

“Once we missed out on Adil Rashid [to Southern Brave], who was a priority early on, then we obviously jumped into the overseas spinner. There were four or five guys that we were looking at and Abrar was one of them,” Vettori said after the auction, as quoted by India Today.

Rival fans pleased to see Indian-owned franchise bid for Pakistan player

Vettori also shared that there was no discussion between the coaches and the management about excluding or avoiding the Pakistani players.

Rival fans, including from England and South Africa, were pleased to see an Indian-owned franchise purchase Abrar.

Earlier, there were reports that the Indian-ownership-based franchises would not bid for the Pakistani players, which was later denied in a combined statement by the franchises. But interestingly except for the Sunrisers, no other Indian-owned franchise picked any Pakistani player.

Hours after the controversy, the official X account of Sunrisers Leeds has been suspended, with the reason not known.

Interestingly, a similar incident happened with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL as they were asked to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman after tensions between India and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, an official statement on the issue is awaited from the franchise or the ownership group.

The Sunrisers (owned by Sun TV) acquired the franchise (previously Northern Superchargers) in The Hundred last year. They acquired 51% stakes from Yorkshire and 49% stakes from the ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board).

Michael Vaughan labels South Africa the “stupidest team” for not letting West Indies beat them in T20 World Cup

Michael Vaughan has labelled South Africa as the “stupidest team” of the recent T20 World Cup. Speaking on the Stick To Cricket Podcast, Vaughan said South Africa should have let West Indies beat them in the Super Eights to all but knock favourites and hosts India out of the tournament.

For context, South Africa thrashed India by 76 runs to kick off the Super Eights. West Indies also beat Zimbabwe very comfortably. All of a sudden, India’s best chance at qualifying for the semi-finals was for South Africa to beat West Indies, which meant a virtual quarter-final against the latter provided Suryakumar Yadav’s team beat Zimbabwe, which they did.

South Africa the stupidest team for beating West Indies – Michael Vaughan

India went unbeaten for the remainder of the tournament, beating Zimbabwe and West Indies in the Super Eights. They then beat England in a hard-fought, high-scoring semi-final and thrashed New Zealand in the final. Vaughan believes South Africa had the chance to keep India at bay.

“I tell you what I think is the stupidest team of the tournament. South Africa,” Vaughan said. “I’ll tell you why. If South Africa had allowed the West Indies to beat them in the Super 8s, India would have been knocked out.”

“You’re not allowed to do that,” replied Phil Tufnell, to which Vaughan responded, “No, but I’m just talking. If they’d have just cleared them out, the juggernaut that was coming, by winning that game, they allowed the juggernaut to go, we’ll beat Zimbabwe, we’ll beat the West Indies in a quarter-final, then we’ll beat England.”

Alastair Cook then responded with the ceveat that a South Africa defeat against West Indies would’ve meant a must-win match against Zimbabwe. The Proteas have a history in such encounters, including the Netherlands in 2022. However, Vaughan believes South Africa were still well placed.

“They [South Africa] had to play Zimbabwe next. So South Africa were going to play Zimbabwe next,” Vaughan said.

“I’m just saying, if there’d been a loss to the West Indies that day, India would not have won the World Cup.

“If you want to win a World Cup, get rid of the best team, early.”

BAN vs PAK 2nd ODI 2026 Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report

The first ODI was as comprehensive as it gets. Pakistan’s decision to select a number of uncapped players was brutally exposed by Nahid Rana and Bangladesh, who chased their paulty total of 114 with a mammoth 209 deliveries to spare on Wednesday.

Rana’s outstanding burst, which yielded a five-wicket haul by his fifth over, saw Pakistan collapse from 41/0 to 69/5. The procession continued, with only Faheem Ashraf’s 37 enabling the visitors to cross 100.

The template is set for Bangladesh. Pakistan’s lineup struggled badly against Rana and also Taskin Ahmed, who both hit speeds in excess of 140km/h. Another strong display on Friday is the order of the day for the Tigers who are seeking direct qualification to next year’s ODI World Cup.

Pakistan’s response will be interesting to see. Muhammad Rizwan and Salman Agha will be key as the experienced batters, but they need a platform from the inexperienced top three.

Also, Pakistan must be better with the new ball after giving away a glut of easy runs in the opening overs of Bangladesh’s innings. Tanzid Hasan made them pay as he raced to an unbeaten 67 off 42 balls.

BAN vs PAK 2nd ODI 2026 Possible Playing XIs

Bangladesh could stick with the same XI with a series victory up for grabs.

Bangladesh: 1. Saif Hassan, 2. Tanzid Hasan, 3. Najmul Hossain Shanto, 4. Litton Das (wk), 5. Towhid Hridoy, 6. Afif Hossain, 7. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (c), 8. Rishad Hossain, 9. Taskin Ahmed, 10. Mustafizur Rahman, 11. Nahid Rana

Will Pakistan stick with the same XI? Given the visitors picked new players, it would be harsh to drop them after one match. However, Haris Rauf is a chance of playing.

One player to watch is Shamyl Hussain after the number three approached the first ODI as if it were a T20I.

Pakistan: 1. Sahibzada Farhan, 2. Maaz Sadaqat, 3. Shamyl Hussain, 4. Muhammad Rizwan (wk), 5. Salman Agha, 6. Hussain Talat, 7. Abdul Samad, 8. Faheem Ashraf, 9. Shaheen Shah Afridi (c), 10. Mohammad Wasim/Haris Rauf, 11. Abrar Ahmed

Shere Bangla National Stadium Mirpur Dhaka Pitch Report and Weather

After spinners dominated the Bangladesh-West Indies ODI series last year, it was a day for the fast bowlers on Wednesday. The Bangladeshi pacers took seven of the ten Pakistani wickets, while Pakistan’s two wickets were also courtesy of seam.

Similar conditions are expected for this match, especially after Mehidy Hasan Miraz spoke of the need of better pitches before the first ODI.

“The thing is that in trying to play in home conditions, we will not be playing on bad wickets. We will still try to play on good wickets but try to get home advantage,” he said, as quoted by Daily Star.

There is a chance of thunderstorms in the morning, but conditions should be clear in the afternoon and evening according to AccuWeather.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for BAN vs PAK 2nd ODI 2026: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Top wicketkeeper picks:

  • Muhammad Rizwan has two fifties in six ODIs against Bangladesh (183 runs, avg. 45.75). But, he struggled against Nahid Rana in the opening match, so this matchup is key.

Key batter picks:

  • Tanzid Hasan not only hit a 42-ball 67* in the first ODI, but he is in excellent form this year. He struck 100 and 88* in T20s in late January and early February, as well as 54 and 92 in recent List A matches for North Z.
  • Sahibzada Farhan was one of the two Pakistan players to cross 20 in the opening match. He looked in promising touch at times, but his offside game will be tested by the Bangladeshi quick bowlers.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled beautifully in the opening ODI (3/29 off 10 overs). The offspinner has 10 wickets in five ODIs against Pakistan at an average of 19.80 and economy of 4.04. He can also contribute with the bat, especially if Bangladesh bat first.

Key bowler picks:

  • Nahid Rana ammassed 176 Dream11 points in the first ODI courtesy of his unbelievable spell of 5/24. Pakistan had no answer to his pace. He has enjoyed some success against Pakistan in Test cricket too and is a must-pick in this match.
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi was loose with the new ball but has a strong matchup against Saif Hassan who looks susceptible to the delivery that angles across him. Shaheen has dismissed Saif five times in 35 balls in international cricket.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Taskin Ahmed looked in good touch with the new ball without getting the early wicket. Taskin can be an excellent differential pick against a Pakistan side that was all at sea against pace in the first ODI.
  • Mustafizur Rahman has taken 56 wickets in 30 ODI innings at the Shere Bangla National Stadium (avg. 17.58, econ. 4.15).
  • Salman Agha missed out in the first ODI but this is his preferred format, making him a decent pick in Dream11. Since the start of 2025, Salman has hit 667 ODI runs at an average of 47.6 and strike rate of 93.3.
  • Faheem Ashraf can get an opportunity to bat again given Pakistan’s inexperienced lineup. Whether he can offer more control with the ball remains to be seen.
  • Najmul Hossain Shanto will take on Pakistan’s bowlers and comes into this game off the back of a promising innings (27 off 33) in the opening match.
  • Litton Das is a better pick if Bangladesh bat first. Also, he has an awful ODI record at Shere Bangla Stadium Mirpur: 20 inns, 297 runs, avg. 14.85, SR 62.00.
  • Rishad Hossain is a riskier pick despite his talent and previous success at Shere Bangla National Stadium. He bowled just two overs in the first ODI as the pace bowlers dominated.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 40, Bangladesh 6, Pakistan 34.
  • Pakistan’s 114 in the first ODI is their lowest all-out score against Bangladesh in ODIs (previous: 161 in the 1999 World Cup).
  • Mehidy Hasan Miraz in ODIs at Shere Bangla Stadium: 17 matches, 31 wickets, avg. 20.74, econ. 4.06.
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi vs. Saif Hassan in all international formats (Tests, ODIs, T20Is): 35 balls, 17 runs, five dismissals.

Possible and predicted 11 for every team in IPL 2026

The 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) is on our doorstep. All 10 teams have set squads and will field strong XIIs, and it will be fascinating to see who comes out on top this season.

IPL 2026: Possible 11 for all teams

Here is a look at possible and predicted XIIs for every team in IPL 2026.

Chennai Super Kings

Squad: MS Dhoni, Anshul Kamboj, Gurjapneet Singh, Jamie Overton, Mukesh Choudhary, Noor Ahmad, Ramakrishna Ghosh, Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Shreyas Gopal, Syed Khaleel Ahmed, Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, Urvil Patel, Kartik Sharma, Prashant Veer, Rahul Chahar, Matt Henry, Akeal Hosein, Matthew Short, Zak Foulkes, Sarfaraz Khan, Aman Khan.

CSK invested heavily in youth in this mini-auction, a shift in their usual experience-first approach. They spent an eyewatering INR 14.2 crore on both Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer. Those two join a good core of young talent which includes Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis.

However, in a huge blow, Nathan Ellis was ruled out of the IPL due to a hamstring injury. This could further impact CSK’s death-bowling stocks. According to cricbuzz, the franchise is searching for a replacement player.

T20 World Cup player of the tournament Sanju Samson is a huge addition for the franchise this season, while Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis can be a magnificent spin-hitting duo.

Possible XII: 1. Ayush Mhatre, 2. Sanju Samson, 3. Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), 4. Dewald Brevis (OS), 5. Kartik Sharma, 6. Shivam Dube, 7. MS Dhoni (wk), 8. Prashant Veer, 9. Matt Henry (OS), 10. Noor Ahmad (OS), 11. Khaleel Ahmed, 12. Jamie Overton (OS)

Delhi Capitals

Squad: Abhishek Porel, Ajay Mandal, Ashutosh Sharma, Axar Patel, Dushmantha Chameera, Karun Nair, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Madhav Tiwari, Mitchell Starc, Mukesh Kumar, Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, T. Natarajan, Tripurana Vijay, Tristan Stubbs, Vipraj Nigam, Auqib Dar, Pathum Nissanka, Kyle Jamieson, Lungi Ngidi, David Miller, Prithvi Shaw, Sahil Parakh.

Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi and Pathum Nissanka are likely to be the overseas starters for DC. Mitchell Starc won’t arrive until later in the tournament and Ben Duckett has withdrawn entirely to focus on England duties.

Auqib Nabi, who has 43 wickets in 34 T20s at an economy of 7.74, is one to watch in the IPL 2026 season after DC landed his services for INR 8.4 crore.

Possible XII: 1. KL Rahul (wk), 2. Pathum Nissanka (OS), 3. Nitish Rana, 4. Tristan Stubbs (OS), 5. Axar Patel (c), 6. David Miller (OS), 7. Ashutosh Sharma, 8. Vipraj Nigam, 9. Lungi Ngidi (OS), 10. Auqib Nabi, 11. Kuldeep Yadav, 12. T Natarajan

Gujarat Titans

Squad: Anuj Rawat, Glenn Phillips, Gurnoor Singh Brar, Ishant Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Jos Buttler, Kagiso Rabada, Kumar Kushagra, Manav Suthar, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Arshad Khan, Nishant Sindhu, Prasidh Krishna, R. Sai Kishore, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Tom Banton, Ashok Sharma, Luke Wood, Prithviraj Yarra.

GT were one of the leading teams throughout the 2025 IPL season. They narrowly missed out on the top two, and were eventually beaten in the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians.

They will field a similar core this season, although there may be a few changes. Jason Holder, who had an excellent T20 World Cup campaign, could slot straight in. Also, Jos Buttler’s poor form is of concern, so it will be interesting to see if GT persist with him or opt for Tom Banton.

Possible XII: 1. Shubman Gill (c), 2. Sai Sudharsan, 3. Jos Buttler/Tom Banton (OS, wk), 4. Washington Sundar, 5. Shahrukh Khan, 6. Jason Holder (OS), 7. Rahul Tewatia, 8. Rashid Khan (OS), 9. Sai Kishore, 10. Kagiso Rabada (OS), 11. Prasidh Krishna, 12. Mohammed Siraj

Kolkata Knight Riders

Squad: Ajinkya Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Anukul Roy, Manish Pandey, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Rovman Powell, Sunil Narine, Umran Malik, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakaravarthy, Cameron Green, Finn Allen, Matheesha Pathirana, Tejasvi Singh, Kartik Tyagi, Prashant Solanki, Rahul Tripathi, Tim Seifert, Sarthak Ranjan, Daksh Kamra, Rachin Ravindra, Akash Deep, Blessing Muzarabani

KKR face a conundrum. They have both Tim Seifert and Finn Allen, who form one of the most destructive opening combinations in T20 cricket. However, can they fit both in the XII?

Cameron Green, purchased for an overseas record of INR 25.20 crore, will surely make the first XII despite his tough summer. Sunil Narine and Matheesha Pathirana (if fit) are likely to be the other overseas players. If the latter doesn’t make the start of the season due to a injury, Anrich Nortje or Blessing Muzarabani could line up.

If KKR opt for both Seifert and Allen, they could leave Pathirana/Nortje out for a domestic pacer such as Akash Deep or Umran Malik. However, then the question of where Ajinkya Rahane bats with Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green also top four players.

Possible XII: 1. Tim Seifert/Finn Allen (OS, wk), 2. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 3. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, 4. Cameron Green (OS), 5. Rahul Tripathi/Anukul Roy, 6. Rinku Singh, 7. Ramandeep Singh, 8. Sunil Narine (OS), 9 Akash Deep, 10 Vaibhav Arora, 11 Blessing Muzarabani (OS), 12 Varun Chakravarthy

Lucknow Super Giants

Squad: Abdul Samad, Ayush Badoni, Aiden Markram, Matthew Breetzke, Himmat Singh, Rishabh Pant (c), Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Arshin Kulkarni, Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Manimaran Siddharth, Digvesh Rathi, Prince Yadav, Akash Singh, Mohammed Shami, Arjun Tendulkar, Wanindu Hasaranga, Anrich Nortje, Mukul Choudhary, Naman Tiwari, Akshat Raghuwanshi, Josh Inglis.

Lots will rest on Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad in the finishing department for LSG, unless one of their high-quality top three players can bat deep. Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran can get the team off to rapid starts, but what Rishabh Pant and the middle order do will be key.

Depending on conditions, LSG may opt to play pacers Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Mohammed Shami and Mayank Yadav. Wanindu Hasaranga must pass fitness tests to be granted an NOC by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Possible XII: 1. Mitchell Marsh (OS), 2. Aiden Markram (OS), 3. Nicholas Pooran (OS), 4. Rishabh Pant (c & wk), 5. Ayush Badoni, 6. Abdul Samad, 7. Shahbaz Ahmed, 8. Avesh Khan/Mohsin Khan, 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Anrich Nortje (OS), 11. Mayank Yadav, 12 Digvesh Rathi

Mumbai Indians

Squad: Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Ryan Rickleton, Robin Minz, Raj Bawa, Raghu Sharma, Mitchell Santner, Corbin Bosch, Naman Dhir, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Allah Ghafanzar, Ashwani Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, Sherfane Rutherford, Mayank Markande, Shardul Thakur, Quinton de Kock, Danish Malewar, Mohammad Izhar, Atharva Ankolekar, Mayank Rawat.

MI have a host of quality overseas options, including Sherfane Rutherford and Will Jacks who are both having an excellent year. Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch are also terrific options for that number seven role.

MI also have a choice between Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton to open alongside Rohit Sharma. Allah Ghazanfar may win a spot as a specialist spinner alongside Trent Boult.

Possible XII: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. Ryan Rickelton (OS, wk), 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Tilak Varma, 5. Hardik Pandya (c), 6. Naman Dhir, 7. Sherfane Rutherford/Will Jacks (OS), 8. Deepak Chahar, 9. Jasprit Bumrah, 10. Ashwani Kumar/Mayank Markande, 11. AM Ghazanfar (OS), 12. Trent Boult (OS)

Punjab Kings

Squad: Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, Shreyas Iyer, Shashank Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Azmatullah Omarzai, Marco Jansen, Harpreet Brar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Musheer Khan, Pyala Avinash, Harnoor Pannu, Suryansh Shedge, Mitchell Owen, Xavier Bartlett, Lockie Ferguson, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Yash Thakur, Vishnu Vinod, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Pravin Dubey, Vishal Nishad.

IPL 2025 finalists PBKS have a relatively settled core. New recruit Cooper Connolly could slot in the middle order alongside Marcus Stoinis, who Ricky Ponting is a big fan of.

Possible XII: 1. Priyansh Arya, 2. Prabhsimran Singh (wk), 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Nehal Wadhera, 5. Cooper Connolly/Azmatullah Omarzai (OS), 6. Marcus Stoinis (OS), 7. Shashank Singh, 8. Marco Jansen (OS), 9. Harpreet Brar, 10. Arshdeep Singh, 11. Xavier Bartlett (OS), 12. Yuzvendra Chahal.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Squad: Rajat Patidar (c), Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Swapnil Singh, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Jacob Bethell, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Nuwan Thushara, Rasikh Salam, Abhinandan Singh, Suyash Sharma, Venkatesh Iyer, Jacob Duffy, Satvik Deswal, Mangesh Yadav, Jordan Cox, Vicky Ostwal, Vihaan Malhotra, Kanishk Chouhan.

The defending champions also have a settled core, although they may be very tempted to play the in-form Jacob Bethell. The left-hander finished the T20 World Cup with an outstanding 105 off 48 balls against India in the semi-final.

Possible XII: 1. Phil Salt (OS), 2. Virat Kohli, 3. Devdutt Padikkal/Venkatesh Iyer, 4. Rajat Patidar (c), 5. Tim David (OS), 6. Jitesh Sharma (wk), 7. Romario Shepherd (OS), 8. Krunal Pandya, 9. Mangesh Yadav, 10. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 11. Jacob Duffy (OS), 12. Suyash Sharma

Rajasthan Royals

Squad: Ravindra Jadeja, Dasun Shanaka, Donovan Ferreira, Sandeep Sharma, Shubham Dubey, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Lhuan-Dre Pretorius, Shimron Hetmyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande, Kwena Maphaka, Nandre Burger, Ravi Bishnoi, Sushant Mishra, Yash Raj Punja, Vignesh Puthur, Ravi Singh, Aman Rao, Brijesh Sharma, Adam Milne, Kuldeep Sen.

RR’s top six can cause significant damage. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored an incredible 101 off 38 balls last year, continues to produce freakish performances at all levels. Lhuan-dre Pretorius could get a start in the top three, with a strong middle order to follow.

Dasun Shanaka has replaced Sam Curran, who will miss IPL 2026 due to injury. The bowling attack possesses experience with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi as the main spinners. Whether Jofra Archer can remain fit remains to be seen in his return to the Royals.

Possible XII: 1. Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 3. Lhuan-dre Pretorius (OS), 4. Riyan Parag (c), 5. Dhruv Jurel (wk), 6. Shimron Hetmyer (OS), 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Dasun Shanaka/Donovan Ferreira (OS), 9. Jofra Archer (OS), 10. Ravi Bishnoi, 11. Tushar Deshpande, 12 Sandeep Sharma.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Squad: Pat Cummins (c), Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aniket Verma, R. Smaran, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harsh Dubey, Kamindu Mendis, Harshal Patel, Brydon Carse, Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, Zeeshan Ansari, Shivang Kumar, Salil Arora, Sakib Hussain, Onkar Tarmale, Amit Kumar, Praful Hinge, Krains Fuletra, Liam Livingstone, Shivam Mavi

2024 finalists SRH had a very disappointing 2025 campaign. Their top order is very strong on paper again, especially with Ishan Kishan’s outstanding form.

However, the bowling attack will have plenty of heavy lifting to do, especially with Pat Cummins out of the early stages of the tournament. Also, Jack Edwards is ruled out of the entire campaign due to a foot injury.

Harsh Dubey could have a key role to play as left-arm spinner.

Possible XII: 1. Travis Head (OS), 2. Abhishek Sharma, 3. Ishan Kishan (c & wk), 4. Nitish Kumar Reddy, 5. Heinrich Klaasen (OS), 6. Aniket Verma, 7. Liam Livingstone (OS), 8. Brydon Carse (OS)/Zeeshan Ansari, 9. Harsh Dubey, 10. Harshal Patel, 11. Shivam Mavi, 12. Jaydev Unadkat.

Fans, pundits critical of Jay Shah “overcelebrating” with India team after T20 World Cup win

Fans and pundits have criticised Jay Shah for his celebrations with the India team after the T20 World Cup Final, claiming it is not a good look as ICC chairman.

Shah lifted the trophy alongside Suryakumar Yadav, and was also a prominent feature in the BCCI’s video. He appeared in 12 different frames, while the likes of Shivam Dube – who played a crucial role in India’s triumph – did not feature except in the final shot of the squad celebrating with the trophy on stage.

“Meant to be neutral” – Fans, pundits critical of Jay Shah’s involvement in India’s T20 World Cup celebrations

Adam Collins and Geoff Lemon of The Final Word Podcast led a chorus of discontent on social media following the footage.

“A shot literally celebrating with the trophy with the team. This is the boiling frog thing, isn’t it?” said Collins.

“This is not normal to have the guy who is responsible for the biggest decisions in global cricket on behalf of all of the members celebrating like he’s in his old job, the best way of putting it, in his previous position running the BCCI. That would be normal. That would be fine. That wouldn’t be remarked upon.

“I actually feel sorry for the players about… these Indian players who have achieved so much, these Indian players who have been found from every corner of the country, part of the great success story of the Indian Premier League. And yet so much of the focus ends up becoming about the guy who not only on stage celebrated with them, but afterwards with the trophy and what happened later on that night.”

Lemon echoed Collins’ thoughts, saying Shah should let the players have the limelight.

“If you’re heading the national board, you shouldn’t be celebrating like you’re a punter in the stands. There is still a difference between those things. If you’re the head of a national board, you’ve got to understand the importance, the significance of other national boards,” Lemon said.

“You’ve got to understand your place in that ecosystem as well. Your job is to let the people who did the thing enjoy the thing. There’s no boiling frog anymore. The frog is boiled. The frog is the French cuisine, right? It’s done. The dish is being served up.”

Other fans had their say and many were disappointed at Shah’s desire to be the centre of attention when a terrific T20 team performed so well.

“All these incredible achievements by this great white ball squad shouldn’t be compromised because one narcissist thinks about making it all about himself,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

“It’s a shame that they included 4 clips in this montage without him. Blasphemous stuff. That editor should be fired the first thing in the morning and made sure he never gets a job anywhere else in the world,” wrote another.

BAN vs PAK 1st ODI 2026 Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report

Barely 72 hours after the T20 World Cup Final, ODI cricket returns in Mirpur as Bangladesh and Pakistan seek a change in fortunes. Pakistan missed out on the semi-finals in disappointing fashion, while Bangladesh sadly did not participate at all.

The hosts need to win this series to overtake West Indies in the ICC ODI rankings. The Tigers currently sit in 10th position after a poor run of results including a series defeat in West Indies in 2024, poor 2025 Champions Trophy campaign, and defeats against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan last year.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s team have no room for error as they need to be ranked ninth or higher to seal automatic qualification for next year’s ODI World Cup.

For Pakistan, this series is billed as a time to give new players an opportunity. They left experienced players including Babar Azam out of their squad, fielding six uncapped players instead, with an eye to the future. Coach Mike Hesson is excited about what’s ahead.

“We have got some fresh faces that have done well in the Shaheens. They have earned the right to get some opportunities at the next level. We are excited as a group to involve them,” Hesson said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“I think our challenge over here is adapting to the pitch quickly. Regardless of what’s thrown at us, we have got to make sure we have got a team ready to challenge Bangladesh in their own conditions.”

BAN vs PAK 1st ODI 2026 Possible Playing XIs

Bangladesh have confirmed that Litton Das will bat in the middle order to counter spin.

“[Litton] is one of our better players of spin bowling. The middle order has been one of our Achilles heels. So, him going down there with his experience and his skills, hopefully we can get what we need there,” said coach Phil Simmons, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Pakistan: 1. Sahibzada Farhan, 2. Maaz Sadaqat, 3. Shamyl Hussain, 4. Mohammad Rizwan, 5. Salman Agha, 6. Hussain Talat, 7. Ghazi Ghori (wk), 8. Faheem Ashraf, 9. Shaheen Shah Afridi (c), 10. Mohammad Wasim/Haris Rauf, 11. Faisal Akram

Shere Bangla National Stadium Mirpur Dhaka Pitch Report and Weather

Shere Bangla National Stadium is typically very spin-friendly. Last year, the Bangladesh-West Indies ODI series had spinners send down 84% of the overs. Since the start of 2023, the top nine wicket-takers in ODIs on this ground are spinners.

However, coaches Simmons and Hesson said the surface looks better for this match. Also, captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz spoke of Bangladesh’s need to move away from the surfaces seen against West Indies.

“The thing is that in trying to play in home conditions, we will not be playing on bad wickets. We will still try to play on good wickets but try to get home advantage,” Mehidy said, as quoted by Daily Star.

There is the chance of afternoon rain, although AccuWeather’s hourly forecast predicts good weather with a top of 31 degrees.
