THU vs SIX Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – BBL 2025/26 7th Match

If the Sydney Smash provides anything like the entertainment we saw in Brisbane on Friday night, then we’ll be in for a cracking match.

However, that is unlikely on a Sydney Showground pitch that usually favours spin and cutters into the surface. Matches here are often tactical of nature where teams need to grind their way to competitive totals.

Sydney Sixers need to win. They’ve lost their first two matches, with the latest a home defeat to Adelaide Strikers after struggling to an under-par total. Their experienced players must step up, especially Babar Azam who is their big recruit.

Sydney Thunder will be just as keen as defeat here will mean two in a row after their loss to Hobart Hurricanes earlier in the week. David Warner’s return is a boost, although where he bats is not set in stone. Also, the Thunder have the spinners to cause the Sixers problems, and that is the aim on Saturday night.

BBL 2025/26 7th Match: THU vs SIX Possible Playing XIs

Kane Richardson is named in the Sydney Sixers squad. He could replace Mitch Perry in the XI. Todd Murphy is also available and could feature on what is typically a spin-friendly ground.

Sydney Sixers: 1. Daniel Hughes, 2. Babar Azam (OS), 3. Josh Philippe (wk), 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Jack Edwards, 7. Joel Davies, 8. Ben Dwarshuis, 9. Hayden Kerr/Todd Murphy, 10. Kane Richardson, 11. Jafer Chohan

David Warner is available for this match. He replaces Ollie Davies in the squad. The Thunder captain could bat down the order.

“We don’t have that left-hander in the middle [order] that we’ve been looking for. It’s a conversation we’re having at the moment,” Warner said last week, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Sydney Thunder: 1. David Warner (c), 2. Sam Konstas, 3. Cameron Bancroft, 4. Sam Billings (wk, OS), 5. Matthew Gilkes, 6. Shadab Khan (OS), 7. Daniel Sams, 8. Chris Green, 9. Nathan McAndrew, 10. Tanveer Sangha, 11. Reece Topley (OS)

ENGIE Stadium Sydney Showground Pitch Report and Weather

Spin usually has a big say on this ground. The average first innings score in the last five BBL matches is 149.8. Teams batting first have won the past three games.

Since the start of 2023, pace bowlers have taken 63 wickets in the BBL at an average of 24.83 and economy of 8.00. Spinners have picked up 34 wickets at an average of 21.64 and low economy of 6.45.

A hot day is forecast with a top of 36 degrees in Western Sydney. There is the chance of an afternoon shower, but there is a “25% (low) chance of at least 1mm” according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for THU vs SIX 2025/26: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • Both Josh Philippe (avg. 13 in six innings) and Sam Billings (avg. 14.88 in nine innings) have a poor record on this ground. Billings has fared pretty well for the Thunder against the Sixers, though, hitting 114 runs at an average of 38.00 and strike rate of 140.74.

Key batter picks:

  • David Warner will be looking to make an immediate impact. He averages 41.50 with a strike rate of 143.10 in T20s at Sydney Showground.
  • Cameron Bancroft top scored with 61 for the Thunder in their season opener against the Hurricanes. Also, Bancroft has an excellent record on this ground: 10 inns, 397 runs, avg. 66.17, SR 123.29.
  • Daniel Hughes has 435 runs (avg. 48.33, SR 129.46) against the Sydney Thunder. He also has a dominant matchup against Daniel Sams, scoring 70 runs off 31 balls without dismissal.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Daniel Sams enjoys bowling on this ground. He has the most wickets (34) at an average of 16.79 and economy of 7.88. His matchup against Babar Azam will be key as the Pakistani batter has a terrible record against left-arm seam in T20s this year: 60 balls, 37 runs, five dismissals.
  • Shadab Khan was impressive against Hobart Hurricanes, scoring 34 (24) and taking 2/36, resulting in 133 Dream11 points. He should enjoy conditions at ENGIE Stadium.
  • Jack Edwards has enjoyed an excellent start to the BBL 2025/26 season. The all-rounder has struck 78 runs at a strike rate of 185.71 and has picked up three wickets at a strike rate of 12.

Key bowler picks:

  • Ben Dwarshuis has 20 wickets against the Thunder at an average of 22.00 and economy of 7.59. He has an utterly dominant record against Daniel Sams, having dismissed him four times for 11 runs in 13 balls.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • A typically slower surface should suit Babar Azam. But, bowlers will look to target his pull shot which has got him into trouble in recent T20s. Also, his matchup against left-arm seam is an issue.
  • Moises Henriques has a fine record against the Thunder (546 runs, avg. 42.00, SR 132.52) and on this ground (185 runs, avg. 37.00, SR 139.10).
  • Chris Green has just the 11 wickets in 19 innings against the Sixers. But, he has the second-most wickets on this ground (26) at a strike rate of 22.46.
  • Tanveer Sangha should find some grip off the surface. He concedes 6.18 per over in six innings at ENGIE Stadium (five wickets).
  • Kane Richardson has 18 wickets in 15 innings against the Thunder. He should bowl in the crunch overs here.
  • Sam Konstas missed out twice against the Sixers last season (nine runs) but he is capable of taking the bowlers on and making a score.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 28, Thunder 8, Sixers 18, N/R 2.
  • Both teams have won four games against each other on this ground.
  • Jack Edwards has taken six wickets in five innings against the Thunder at an average of 15.17 and economy of 6.07.
  • Jack Edwards has dismissed both Sam Konstas (11 balls, 4 runs) and David Warner (9 balls, 20 runs) once in T20s.
  • Ben Dwarshuis vs Cameron Bancroft in T20s: 48 balls, 53 runs, one wicket.
  • Ben Dwarshuis vs David Warner in T20s: 21 balls, 22 runs, no wicket.
  • Chris Green vs Daniel Hughes in T20s: 53 balls, 57 runs, one wicket.
  • Ben Dwarshuis vs Sam Billings in T20s: 15 balls, 24 runs, one wicket. Billings scored 15 runs off six balls against Dwarshuis last season.
  • Kane Richardson vs Daniel Sams in T20s: 29 balls, 54 runs, one wicket.

Reactions as Brisbane Heat chase 258 in remarkable BBL win against Perth Scorchers

Does anyone know what odds the Brisbane Heat were when Colin Munro was dismissed first ball chasing 258? We’d love to know.

The Heat have pulled off the highest run chase in Big Bash League (BBL) history – and third-highest overall in men’s T20 cricket – on an unbelievable night at the Gabba.

Perth Scorchers, led by Finn Allen and Cooper Connolly, took an ill-disciplined Heat attack to the cleaners. The Scorchers amassed 257/6 and it seemed unthinkable that anything other than a Perth win would happen especially as captain Nathan McSweeney rolled his ankle and hobbled off the field.

However, Matt Renshaw and Jack Wildermuth played the innings of their lives. Renshaw, caught early off a Jhye Richardson no ball, made the Scorchers pay the ultimate price as he smashed a magnificent 102 off 51 balls. Wildermuth, who came into the game with a batting average of 10.26 and highest score of 31, belted an unbeaten 54-ball 110 in scarcely believable scenes.

It is the first time ever that two players scored centuries in a BBL run chase. The duo combined for 212 runs off 93 balls in a wonderful exhibition of hitting. They each hit five fours and nine sixes as the Scorchers simply had no answers to the onslaught.

Reactions as Brisbane Heat pull off the highest ever BBL run chase

The Heat reached 100 after 7.5 overs as they maintained pace with the required run rate. They then sat at 131/1 at the halfway mark and the first over after drinks – 20 runs off Ashton Agar – made the Heat favourites. Renshaw provided the momentum and Wildermuth finished things off.

The 515 runs is easy the highest match aggregate in BBL history, going past 459 by Hurricanes against the Strikers. Also, 36 sixes is a BBL record, smashing the previous best of 26.

Here are some of the reactions to an unbelievable match.

Brisbane Heat picked up their first victory of the BBL 2025/26 season in the process. Their next match is against Sydney Thunder in Canberra on Monday.

For Perth Scorchers, they have a week to regroup with their next game on Boxing Day against Hobart Hurricanes at home.

Reactions to another Travis Head century at the Adelaide Oval as Australia inch closer to Ashes victory

Australia have taken a huge step towards Ashes retention as Travis Head notched up his fourth hundred in his last four matches at the Adelaide Oval.

Head put England to the sword, taking advantage of the visitors’ inexplicable tactics of bowling to his cut shot early. His usual positive frame of mind was too much for a tired England to handle, racing to 99 which funnily enough was his most difficult period.

England brought the field up and Head was stuck on 99 for nine deliveries, which included a dropped catch by Harry Brook. Head then decided enough was enough, launching a Joe Root delivery back over his head to bring up three figures and draw a huge reaction from his beloved Adelaide fans.

The pain continued for England as Head and fellow South Australian Alex Carey combined for an unbeaten 122 off 29.1 overs. Carey was faultless, continuing his magnificent series after his first innings hundred and superb keeping, knocking the England bowlers around with consumate ease.

Ben Stokes didn’t bowl after batting for an extended period in the Adelaide heat. Jofra Archer also looked tired after his first innings exploits with bat and ball. Will Jacks, Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse were left to do the bulk of the work as Australia ran rampant to finish day three 356 runs ahead.

Fans react as Travis Head brings up another Test hundred at his beloved Adelaide Oval

Travis Head’s Test CV is excellent. He now has four Ashes hundreds to go with a player of the series award in 2021/22. He also has a WTC Final hundred, crucial BGT tons and who could forget his 92 on arguably the spiciest Gabba pitch ever seen.

“Moving Travis Head to open the batting in Test Cricket will be looked at one of the BEST decisions. Another great knock by him today,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

“Has there even been a more popular South Australian loved universally in the state as Travis Head. It really is his kingdom.” wrote another.

Australia will begin day four at 271/4 with visions of a 500+ run lead. Some rain is possible on day five, so it will be interesting to see the home team’s approach tomorrow.

Fans call for Cameron Green to be dropped after poor batting display in Adelaide

Cameron Green’s place in the Australian Test team is again under the spotlight, with fans calling for the all-rounder to be dropped after a disappointing display with the bat.

Green, who threw his wickets away despite looking promising in Perth and Brisbane, was out in tame fashion on the first day in Adelaide. With Australia tottering at 94/3, Green chipped a Jofra Archer delivery that was gleefully snapped up by a diving Brydon Carse at midwicket.

The second innings was another nervous start. His first ball was a nice cover drive against the incosnsistent Will Jacks, but loose strokeplay against Josh Tongue saw his downfall. After leaving a delivery, Green then drove and missed the next, before nicking off playing another loose drive.

“The reason he’s nicked it is because his weight is on the backfoot,” said Ricky Ponting on Channel 7. “His backfoot also goes to leg stump.”

Calls grow louder for Cameron Green to be dropped and replaced by Beau Webster

Green now averages just 28.62 in home Tests. This is the lowest of any Australian batter who has batted at least 20 times in the last 41 years. He is also averaging just 21.9 overall in his last 15 Tests.

Beau Webster, who was harshly left out of the team for the Ashes, has played a number of important innings in his seven Tests, played largely on tricky batting pitches.

Green’s bowling, where he can touch speeds of 145km/h, is a key reason why he is selected over Webster. Green was terrific with the ball in England’s first innings, but his batting returns are cause for significant concern.

Green’s dismissal came soon after Usman Khawaja edged a short, wide delivery from Will Jacks. Australia fell to 149/4 at that stage, but Travis Head and Alex Carey settled things with a solid partnership.

IND vs SA 5th T20 2025 Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report

After the abandoned match at Lucknow, the action moves to Ahmedabad for the final encounter of the T20I series. South Africa have the opportunity to finish their successful tour on a high, while India are aiming for another triumph in T20I cricket.

The third T20I was all India. The bowlers, left by Arshdeep Singh, dominated the Proteas lineup as only Aiden Markram displayed any meaningful resistance. However, India’s batting still doesn’t have that same confidence or swagger it did in previous months. Runs for Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav will be very welcome as the World Cup quickly approaches.

For South Africa, a lot depends on whether Quinton de Kock can produce the type of innings he did in the second T20I. If a platform is set, the Proteas’ exciting middle order can cause damage. Also, can the South African attack cause a few more headaches for the Indian lineup?

IND vs SA 5th T20 2025 Possible Playing XIs

Jasprit Bumrah was back from personal leave in Lucknow. However, Axar Patel is ruled out with illness. Also, Sanju Samson could play with Shubman Gill reportedly nursing a toe injury, according to ESPNcricinfo.

India: 1. Abhishek Sharma, 2. Shubman Gill/Sanju Samson, 3. Suryakumar Yadav (c), 4. Tilak Varma, 5. Jitesh Sharma (wk), 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Shivam Dube, 8. Harshit Rana/Washington Sundar, 9. Arshdeep Singh, 10. Jasprit Bumrah, 11. Varun Chakravarthy

South Africa could bat Tristan Stubbs up the order as Reeza Hendricks has missed out twice.

South Africa: 1. Quinton de Kock (wk), 2. Aiden Markram (c), 3. Reeza Hendricks/Tristan Stubbs, 4. Dewald Brevis, 5. David Miller, 6 Donovan Ferreira, 7 Marco Jansen, 8 Corbin Bosch, 9 George Linde/Keshav Maharaj, 10 Lungi Ngidi, 11 Ottneil Baartman/Anrich Nortje

Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad Pitch Report and Weather

Clear and warm conditions are forecast in Ahmedabad for this match. Whoever wins the toss could have a tricky decision to make as teams batting first won seven of the nine matches in IPL 2025.

The average first innings score on this ground in this year’s IPL was a mammoth 215.67 at a run rate of 10.78. During the season, pace bowlers took 80 wickets here at an average of 32.79 and economy of 10.28. Spinners picked up 31 wickets at 29.29/9.56.

Expect more excellent batting conditions in this match.

  • Aiden Markram played a lone hand in the third T20I (61). It was a welcome innings as he averages 23.06 as captain compared to 38.21 when not skipper in T20Is.

Key bowler picks:

  • Varun Chakravarthy has been simply outstanding in this series, taking six wickets at an average of 9.83. He has amassed 282 Dream11 points in the process. Overall, he has a superb 18 wickets against the Proteas at an average of 10.94 and strike rate of 9.00.

  • Dewald Brevis has looked in promising touch but is yet to make the big score in this series. He is South Africa’s leading run-scorer in T20Is this year (433) and is striking at 181.9 against spin in all T20s in 2025 (avg. 73.7).
  • Sanju Samson is worth a pick in Dream11 if selected in the XI as he is looking to prove a point. Samson averages 31.00 with a strike rate of 147.62 in T20s at Ahmedabad.
  • David Miller has the most runs in IND-SA T20Is (545). He also has plenty of T20 experience at Ahmedabad: inns 12, 254 runs, avg. 42.33, SR 151.19.

HEA vs SCO Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – BBL 2025/26 6th Match

Brisbane Heat will be looking to bounce back as they take on Perth Scorchers in the 6th match of the 2025/26 BBL season.

The Heat, admittedly missing a host of players, had a disappointing start against the Melbourne Renegades earlier this week. Their star recruit, Shaheen Shah Afridi, was banned from the attack after 2.4 expensive overs as the attack struggled to keep Tim Seifert in check.

Now, they welcome back Matt Kuhnemann who will partner Shaheen and Xaxier Bartlett as the experienced core. The Heat’s third specialist pace bowler is the key concern, with Liam Haskett struggling a few nights ago.

So, it certainly won’t be easy against a powerful Perth Scorchers lineup. Cooper Connolly stood tall in a run chase against the Sydney Sixers, navigating a tricky situation in a shortened game. He picked up an IPL deal on Tuesday night and this can help increase his confidence further after a strong few months.

BBL 2025/26 6th Match: HEA vs SCO Possible Playing XIs

The experiment to open with Jack Wildermuth didn’t pay off for the Heat against Renegades. But, expect them to persist with the tactic for the second match.

Matt Kuhnemann is back in the squad and should replace Paddy Dooley in the XI.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Colin Munro (OS), 2. Jack Wildermuth, 3. Nathan McSweeney (c), 4. Matt Renshaw, 5. Max Bryant, 6. Hugh Weibgen, 7. Jimmy Pierson (wk), 8. Xavier Bartlett, 9. Shaheen Shah Afridi (OS), 10. Matt Kuhnemann, 11. Liam Haskett/Oli Patterson

At the time of writing, Perth Scorchers are yet to name their squad. They could stick with the same team that beat Sydney Sixers on Sunday.

Perth Scorchers: 1. Mitch Marsh, 2. Finn Allen (OS, wk), 3. Cooper Connolly, 4. Aaron Hardie, 5. Ashton Turner (c), 6. Laurie Evans (OS), 7. Nick Hobson, 8. Ashton Agar, 9. Joel Paris, 10. Brody Couch, 11. Mahli Beardman

Gabba Brisbane Pitch Report and Weather

The average first innings in the last 10 BBL matches at the Gabba is 173.2 at a run rate of 8.69. Chasing teams have won the past four matches, but the team batting first won the previous six.

Since the start of 2023, pace bowlers have taken 123 wickets at an average of 23.33 and economy of 8.68 in BBL matches at the Gabba. Spinners have struggled in comparison, taking 33 wickets at an average of 44.21 and economy of 8.30.

A warm and clear night is forecast in Brisbane, with temperatures around 30 degrees at 6:15pm local time.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for HEA vs SCO 2025/26: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • Finn Allen is the safest wicket-keeper pick as he opens the batting. In all T20s this year, Allen has smashed 830 runs at an average of 29.6 and strike rate of 200.5.

Key batter picks:

  • Mitch Marsh has a magnificent record against the Brisbane Heat. He’s hammered 467 runs at an average of 77.83 and strike rate of 168.59. But, this will be his first match against the Heat since January 2022.
  • Colin Munro amassed 115 Dream11 points against the Renegades. He will be looking to improve his record at the Gabba: 11 inns, 231 runs, avg. 23.10, SR 119.69.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Cooper Connolly is in great touch and is coming off a man of the match performance against the Sixers (59 off 31 balls). He also has recent scores of 70 (FC), 47 (list A) and 88 (FC).
  • Aaron Hardie bats in the top four and will contribute overs. The all-rounder has scored 208 runs against the Heat (avg. 29.71, SR 135.95) along with five wickets (avg. 28.20, econ. 8.81).
  • Jack Wildermuth is an excellent pick in fantasy cricket if he opens the batting again. He will likely bowl four overs as well, especially as he took 3/34 in the last game, with two wickets coming at the death.

Key bowler picks:

  • Xavier Bartlett has an excellent record at the Gabba, with 31 wickets at an average of 16.84 and strike rate of 12.42. His matchup against Finn Allen is one to watch as Allen has been dismissed 19 times in the powerplay in all T20s this year (30 innings).
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi had a night to forget on Monday (2.4-0-43-0). Mitch Marsh has been dismissed six times in 84 balls against left-arm seam in T20s this year (avg. 23.2). Finn Allen has a worse record with nine dismissals at an average of 16.3.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Brody Couch has been in good wicket-taking form. He picked up two wickets in the opening BBL match, after 10 wickets in his last three Shield matches.
  • Matt Renshaw has struggled against the Scorchers, scoring just 117 runs at an average of 14.63 and strike rate of 114.71. But, this is new-look Scorchers attack compared to the days of Behrendhorff and Tye.
  • Nathan McSweeney has been in solid form recently (49 in List A, 68 in FC, 63 vs England Lions, 226* in FC). He averages just 12.80 in five matches against the Scorchers.
  • Hugh Weigben impressed in Heat’s tournament opener (38* off 20 balls). Jimmy Peirson was also superb (50 off 22), but faces a touch matchup as he averages 18.57 against the Scorchers.

Other Stats and Important Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 24, Heat 8, Scorchers 16.
  • Scorchers have won eight of the past nine matches against the Heat.
  • Heat lead Scorchers 4-3 at the Gabba.
  • Mitch Marsh in T20s at the Gabba: 3 inns, 100 runs, avg. 50.00, SR 138.89.
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi vs Finn Allen in all T20s: 76 balls, 116 runs, four wickets.
  • Joel Paris vs Matt Renshaw in T20s: 9 balls, 11 runs, two wickets.

Snicko vs UltraEdge: What’s the difference?

The Snicko vs. UltraEdge debate has reared to its head during the second Ashes Test in Adelaide. A host of controversial calls has dominated headlines, with the snicko technology proving unreliable in the quest for correct decisions.

“They’ve got a third umpire sitting up in there that’s got to make decisions based on what he’s seeing that the technology is providing, and sometimes they have a gut feel that it’s not right,” Ricky Ponting said on Channel 7, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“That can’t happen. You’ve got to be able to trust the technology that’s in place.”

Is UltraEdge better than Snicko? A look at the difference

Calls are growing louder for UltraEdge to be introduced in Australia. Currently, Real-Time Snicko (RTS) is employed down under and in New Zealand. UltraEdge is used in the rest of the world.

Speaking on the Western Province Cricket Umpires Assocation YouTube channel in February 2025, ex-umpire Marais Erasmus explained the difference between the two technologies

“They are set up slightly differently and the outcome works slightly differently,” he said. “Real-Time Snicko; we always have the snick just maybe one frame later than when it actually happened. Therefore the umpires are taught to interpret it in that way.

“Where with the UltraEdge, which is a Hawkeye product, the snick is at the time when it’s in the frame. Sometimes it might go into the next frame or start in the previous frame, but it’s more immediately, I think, probably easier for the viewers to understand, where RTS can give the impression that it’s after the fact.”

UltraEdge is considered superior as Hawkeye offers a higher frame-rate analysis of 340 frames per second. RTS’ tracking cameras offer 50 frames per second, as reported by Daily Mail.

Trent Copeland criticises the ICC for their stance

Calls are also growing louder for the ICC to fund use of Ultra Edge around the world. Currently, the choice of technology is paid for by the host broadcaster, who makes their decision based on factors such as budget.

Trent Copeland was critical of the ICC in his feature for Channel 7 after day two of the second Ashes Test in Adelaide. He said the governing body shouldn’t leave it up to the broadcasters to make the call.

“I just want to take a step back from snicko for a moment and say the ICC make the host broadcaster make this choice. Then, they’re also asking them to foot the bill. Not only is the technology letting the sport down, but I think the ICC is as well,” Copeland said.

CA CEO Todd Greenberg reacts to snicko fiasco in 2nd Ashes Test

Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Todd Greenberg has expressed his discontent with snicko during the second Ashes Test at Adelaide. There have been a number of controversial moments relating to snicko on the opening two days, leading to Mitchell Starc saying “snicko needs to be sacked. That’s the worst technology there is,” near the stump microphone.

Starc’s frustration was in relation to the third umpire deeming the ball missed Jamie Smith’s glove and only hit his helmet off Pat Cummins’ bowling. Usman Khawaja’s attempted catch hit the ground first, but the decision had the Australians bewildered.

“They make a mistake the other day, and they make another mistake today,” Starc continued.

Smith was in the action soon after, given out caught behind as snicko showed a spike on the first frame after the ball passed the toe end of the bat. On-field umpire Nitin Menon didn’t formally make a decision, but the fact he sent it upstairs to check whether Alex Carey’s catch was legal suggests he thought England’s keeper-batsman had hit the ball.

Smith, Ben Stokes and England fans were left furious after the Alex Carey not out call yesterday. The spike came well before the ball reached Carey’s bat, but BBG Sports, the company who manages snicko, says there was a calibration error.

CA CEO Todd Greenberg not happy with snicko

“It certainly caused me some heartburn because the whole idea of technology is to take away the clanger or the howler,” Greenberg said on SEN radio.

“From what I can understand having dug into it last night and this morning is human error.

“There’s two human errors there – one is the actual decision from the umpire, and then there’s supposed to be a failsafe with the technology and it didn’t happen. In my view it’s not good enough.

“We’re asking a lot of questions of the provider through the broadcasters and we’re hoping to get some answers so we can be assured it won’t happen again.”

Ricky Ponting sympathises with the TV umpire Chris Gaffaney. The former Australian captain says Gaffaney doesn’t have the tools to be confident in his decision-making.

“This technology that we are using here is simply not as good as technology that’s used in other countries,” Ponting said on Channel 7. “You talk to the umpires, they’ll tell you the same thing. They can’t trust it.”

Snicko wasn’t the only source of controversy on day two. Joe Root was given the benefit of the doubt in the morning session with Gaffaney deeming the ball bounced before Carey’s gloves after an inside edge onto Root’s pad.

However, England’s all-time leading run-scorer couldn’t make an impact as the visitors crumbled in the face of disciplined Australian bowling on a flat Adelaide pitch. The Australian attack worked magnificently as a unit in very hot conditions, with even Cameron Green producing a peach to remove Harry Brook.

The visitors ended day two on 213/8, still 158 runs behind. Ben Stokes is unbeaten on 45 off 151 balls, while Jofra Archer has batted fluently for his 48-ball 30.

STA vs HUR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – BBL 2025/26 5th Match

The defending champions Hobart Hurricanes are back in action in the 5th match of the BBL 2025/26 season. They take on the Melbourne Stars, who have enjoyed some great moments against the Hurricanes at the MCG.

Hobart’s title last season means the Stars are the only team not to win a BBL title. Surely this has to increase the motivation for Marcus Stoinis’ team. They thumped the Hurricanes by 40 runs last season, and anything similar will be the perfect start to this campaign.

The key question for the Stars, however, is whether they still rely too much on Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. Both have excellent numbers against the Hurricanes, but they need others to contribute. Also, whether the Stars have the bowling depth to keep Hobart in check remains to be seen.
