IND vs WI 1st ODI Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | IND vs WI 1st ODI Prediction Today | India vs West Indies 1st ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction | IND vs WI 1st ODI Players to Watch

Over the last 10 years, ODIs have often been met with the word ‘context’. That word fully applies to this upcoming match, held in a city (Chennai) that experiences plenty of rain in December.

Despite an extra two T20Is providing more value given a World T20 is less than a year away, this is a chance for certain players to make a mark. The likes of KL Rahul for India and Hayden Walsh for West Indies will be keen to stake their claims for regular berths in their respective ODI teams.

Key Players to Watch/Stats

  • Virat Kohli is the fan’s dream. He gives plenty to talk about, particularly vs West Indies. He has amassed 2146 runs in just 35 innings, with 870 in his last nine knocks at 174.
  • Mohammed Shami has 32 wickets in 15 matches vs West Indies, at an average of 21.00. Also, India would be tempted to pick Ravindra Jadeja given his familiarity with Chennai, plus given he has 38 wickets in 26 matches vs Windies.
  • Rohit Sharma has 12 50+ scores vs West Indies, but has surprisingly converted just two to centuries. Also, he has scored just 74 runs in five ODIs at Chennai.
  • Shai Hope is averaging 60.54 in ODIs in the past two years. Against India, he has 471 runs in 14 matches at 42.81.
  • Shimron Hetmyer starred in India last year, scoring 106, 94, 37, 13 and 9 in the ODI series.
  • There is a case for India to play Kuldeep Yadav, who has 21 wickets in 12 matches vs West Indies.
  • Roston Chase in last ODI series vs Afghanistan: 94, 9, 42* & 2/31, 3/30, 1/24.

Possible Playing 11

India: 1. KL Rahul, 2. Rohit Sharma, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Shivam Dube/Kedar Jadhav, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Deepak Chahar, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Mohammed Shami

West Indies: 1. Sunil Ambris, 2. Shai Hope, 3. Roston Chase, 4. Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Nicholas Pooran (wk), 6. Kieron Pollard (c), 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Kharry Pierre, 9. Hayden Walsh, 10. Keemo Paul, 11. Sheldon Cottrell

Key to an India win

Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the series. So, the in-and-out KL Rahul gets a chance to impress at the top, just as he did in the recent T20I series. With Virat Kohli an imperious figure against West Indies, a strong start from the openers can spell trouble for the Windies.

Also, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who requires consistent cricket, is out with another injurt setback. Shardul Thakur has been brought into the squad, but with the Chepauk track often suiting spinners, a good approach from India might be to choke the Windies’ scoring with finger and wrist spin.

IND vs WI 1st ODI: Kohli was incredible in the T20Is.

Key to a West Indies win

Can West Indies get the better of Virat Kohli and his fellow top three counterparts? To stand a significant chance, the Windies need to get into India’s middle order as early as possible, which places the onus on the powerplay bowlers to build pressure and take wickets.

Also, how will West Indies’ naturally attacking batsmen fare against India? Shai Hope has proven to be a foil, given his old-fashioned batting of late, so who can provide the adequate support to ensure the score and partnerships keep building? Will the exciting middle order flourish or flounder?

Pitch and Conditions

There has been a lot of rain in Chennai in the lead up to the match, meaning the ground has been covered for significant periods. The forecast for match day should hopefully allow for a full match, with the spinners tipped to make an impact.

India have won seven of 13 ODIs at Chennai. West Indies have the talent to cause India a problem or two, but the experience and quality of the likes of Virat Kohli could be enough to get India home.

Mumbai got a decent increase compared to the 2018 season. CSK is having consistent views on their matches. DC and KXIP have also gained viewership compared to 2018 with SRH and KKR going down on the list.

Although Mumbai gains the top spot in overall views, CSK still has the most number of views by the female audience, which is fantastic to see.

Why West Indies are Successful in WT20: Will They Win Again?

Why West Indies are Successful in World T20s: Will They Win Again? | Will West Indies Win World T20 2020? | Why are West Indies so successful in World T20s?

West Indies are ranked 10th at the ICC World T20 rankings. They have an overall winning percentage of just 46.05%. But, they are the most successful team in T20 World Cups, winning two out of six tournaments. In fact, they are the only team to win the T20 World Cup twice (2012 and 2016).

So, what is it about the Windies when it comes to T20 tournaments? Here, we look at a few deciding factors that have helped them to achieve this feat:

Experience

The Windies players are very experienced in T20s. No T20 league is successful without them (including the IPL and BBL). They play most of the T20 leagues around the globe and their players know how T20 is played.

The likes of Chris Gayle, Andre Russel, DJ Bravo, Sunil Narine and many more are the life of T20 Franchise Cricket.

Their young players also get the experience of T20 at the very early stages of their careers; some of them have even started their careers by announcing themselves in T20 cricket.

Domestic Structure

Although their domestic structure may not be as strong as some other countries in the longer formats, they have their own Caribbean Premier League. The CPL is arguably the biggest T20 league after IPL and BBL, which provides local players to showcase their talent to the world.

Many big names of Windies cricket like Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Fabian Allen, Keemo Paul, Hayden Walsh Jr., Alzarri Joseph and Rahkeem Cornwall came through CPL.

Importantly, when you combine these young players with their experienced campaigners, a very strong T20 side is shaped.

Why West Indies are Successful in World T20s: Will They Win Again? | Will West Indies Win World T20 2020? | Why are West Indies so successful in World T20s?
The CPL is huge, and has been a big factor in West Indies’ World T20 success.

Natural Game

The natural game of the Windies is the power game. They like to deal in boundaries, which suits T20 cricket. Their openers attack from the first ball and other batsmen are also not afraid to play their shots even if 3-4 wickets are down.

Players like Ewin Lewis, Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Kieron Pollard and Shimron Hetmyer can intimidate any bowling lineup. Indeed, Brathwaite did so in 2016, sealing the Title in unbelievable fashion in 2016.

Players for Every Role

West Indies have a great batch of players for every situation and every position.

While they have some explosive batters as mentioned, they also have a fantastic bowling lineup for T20s. With the likes of Cottrell, Holder, Narine, Hayden Walsh Jr., Kharry Pierre and Alzarri Joseph, they can go past any batting lineup on their day. Also, their fielding is world class.

Despite their issues with the Windies board, they were able to get their best squad for the T20 World Cups with the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy and all the other senior players to form a very strong squad to play in the T20 World Cups.

West Indies: World T20 2016 Champions in the most incredible circumstances.

Captaincy

Darren Sammy is a champion leader in T20 franchise cricket. All franchises want him to captain their side. He played an important role in the Windies winning two T20 World Cups under his captaincy.

Now, Kieron Pollard is managing the captaincy duties and is doing quite well. West Indies would hope that he also performs well and wins them their third trophy in the T20 World Cup next year in Australia.

So far, the signs are promising

AUS vs NZ 1st Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

AUS vs NZ 1st Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AUS vs NZ 1st Test Prediction Today | Australia vs New Zealand 1st Test Preview Dream11 Prediction

Backtrack four years. New Zealand, World Cup Finalists, who also enjoyed a strong home record, travelled to Australia with the hope of achieving a first ever series win downunder.

But, as is the case now, Trent Boult had an injury worry. The Black Caps, World Cup Finalists again in 2019, have had a wonderful year across formats. But, Australia at home is a different beast, and if Boult is indeed missing, New Zealand are left with a hole to fill.

The pace of Lockie Ferguson could help, but with a short turnaround after a decent-length flight, along with scorching 40C temperatures, New Zealand have a test of character awaiting them.

Key to an Australia win

David Warner is imperious at home. His 335*, the highest score by an Australian against an active Test nation, is a reminder of how strong he is at home. He put the Black Caps to the sword four years ago, and if he can do so again, Australia will be mighty hard to beat.

And, when you add Joe Burns, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, all of whom have plenty to offer (Smith the best since Bradman according to many), Australia’s top four can set the game up nicely.

AUS vs NZ 1st Test Dream11: David Warner – dominant at home

Also, a key factor in Australia’s home success is their fantastic attack. With height and pace the key attribute of their quicks, coupled with the guile and control of Nathan Lyon, Australia have made a habit of grinding teams down with the ball. New Zealand have the patience, so a superb contest awaits against the likes of Latham, Williamson, Taylor and Watling.

Key to a New Zealand win

Despite their deserved number two ranking, New Zealand start as outsiders. To achieve what they haven’t since 1985/86 in Australia – a series win – the bowlers have a significant role to play.

Can a mix of Tim Southee’s subtle movement, Neil Wagner’s underrated persistence and either Trent Boult or Lockie Ferguson unlock an early passage to Australia’s untested middle order so far this season? With the Perth track expected to have some pace and carry with the possibility of breaking up, consistency and skill from the Black Caps will be key.

AUS vs NZ 1st Test Dream11: Can Neil Wagner deliver the goods?

However, New Zealand’s batting can be their key avenue to getting settled in the series. The form of Jeet Raval is the biggest concern, but with Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls and BJ Watling all established players, the Black Caps will be well served having at least two batsmen playing the role of Cheteshwar Pujara last year, with the likes of Taylor and de Grandhomme (if fit) to move the scoring when needed.

Possible Playing 11

Australia are set to play the same XI for the third consecutive Test.

Australia: 1. David Warner, 2. Joe Burns, 3. Marnus Labuschagne, 4. Steve Smith, 5. Travis Head, 6. Matthew Wade, 7. Tim Paine (c & wk), 8. Pat Cummins, 9. Mitchell Starc, 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Josh Hazlewood

Trent Boult remains in doubt. So, Lockie Ferguson could make his debut. Also, Ross Taylor, who was hit on the hand in practice, is set to play.

New Zealand: 1. Tom Latham, 2. Jeet Raval, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Henry Nicholls, 6. BJ Watling (wk), 7. Daryl Mitchell/Colin de Grandhomme, 8. Mitchell Santner, 9. Tim Southee, 10. Trent Boult/Lochie Ferguson, 11. Neil Wagner

Pitch and Conditions

Plenty of grass was on the pitch in the lead up to the game. Most is expected to be shaved off, though, but some pace and bounce is expected. Temperatures won’t be pleasant, with four consecutive days of 40C degree heat forecast. So, batting late in the game might not be easy as the pitch could break up.

Stats and Facts

  • New Zealand have lost just two of seven Tests in Perth. However, they have won just eight of 57 Tests vs Australia.
  • David Warner averages 71.27 in seven Tests vs New Zealand. Steve Smith averages 67.87 in five games.
  • Nathan Lyon can be backed to do well. He averages 22.70 with the ball vs New Zealand in Tests.
  • Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor average close to 50 vs Australia. In Australia, Williamson averages 55.55 in five Tests. Taylor, on his last visit to Perth, scored 290, albeit on a very flat WACA pitch.
  • New Zealand have lost just two of their past 16 Tests.

From Hyderabad to Thiruvananthapuram, West Indies showcased their talent to level the series at 1-1. However, India, despite their talent, showcased their main T20I worries for everyone to see.

Will the dropped catches, misfields and short-pitched bowling follow the home side from Thiruvananthapuram to Mumbai? What about the lack of swashbuckling finishing the team is after? Just as they did vs South Africa and Bangladesh recently, India will need to win a decider. But, can they produce a polished display?

West Indies have a great opportunity a year out from the World T20. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell may well participate in the big tournament, but their team is shaping up pretty decently without them. Can they pick up a confidence-boosting series win?

Key to an India win

The bowling was all over the place. The same can be said of the fielding. Costly drops set the tone in Thiruvananthapuram, of which the Indians were unable to recover from.

Key mistakes from India in T20Is has eagle eyes awaiting India’s bowling and fielding performance in Mumbai. Getting the better of West Indies’ fearless top order is the need of the hour to allow the spinners to get in the game in the middle overs.

However, that India reached 170 without significant contributions from Rohit, KL Rahul and Kohli was a positive. Shivam Dube’s hitting is something India will want more of, as well as Rishabh Pant building on his time at the crease last time out. This time, though, can India put together the complete batting display across the innings’ three stages?

Key to a West Indies win

Kesrick Williams hushed everyone in blue; a reminder that his expensive first outing was a blip on his radar. Sheldon Cottrell saluted, Jason Holder pointed to the heavens and Hayden Walsh Jr continued to enjoy the ride.

Despite the big hitting of Dube soon after the powerplay in Thiruvananthapuram, the Windies kept their cool to keep India in check. Their effort as a unit last time out is something they’d want to repeat; in particular getting the better of India’s three big guns at the top.

Also, Evin Lewis, released by Mumbai Indians, returns to the Wankhede. If his form is anything to go by, he is primed for a big one, along with Lendl Simmons, who proved to be a very capable partner last game. Can the two openers set a strong platform that the dangerous middle order can build on?

IND vs WI 3rd T20I Dream11: Evin Lewis – successful return to Wankhede?

Possible Playing 11

India would have liked to experiment, but the series needs to be won. Given that three spinners might not be required in Mumbai, India could look at bringing Mohammed Shami in for Ravindra Jadeja or Washington Sundar.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. KL Rahul, 3. Shivam Dube, 4. Virat Kohli (c), 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Shreyas Iyer, 7. Ravindra Jadeja/Washington Sundar, 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Deepak Chahar, 11. Yuzvendra Chahal

West Indies enjoyed a great win last game. Their bowling looked relatively balanced, as their batting looked threatening.

West Indies: 1. Lendl Simmons, 2. Evin Lewis, 3. Shimron Hetmyer, 4. Nicholas Pooran (wk), 5. Brandon King, 6. Kieron Pollard (c), 7. Jason Holder, 8. Kharry Pierre, 9. Kesrick Williams, 10. Sheldon Cottrell, 11. Hayden Walsh

Pitch and Conditions

Conditions are expected to be fine for the match. Dew could settle in given the minimal cloud cover. In terms of the pitch, a visit to the Wankhede usually means a nice day out for the batsmen, with spinners needing good variations to avoid going the distance.

Stats and Facts

  • West Indies’ win in the second T20I was their first against India in their last eight meetings.
  • Since the beginning of 2018, India have a 14-3 record when chasing in T20Is. When batting first, this becomes eight wins, eight losses.
  • Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Evin Lewis, KL Rahul and Lendl Simmons all average over 40 in India-West Indies T20Is.
  • Virat Kohli at Wankhede in T20Is: 2 matches, 127 runs, HS 89*.
  • Rishabh Pant smashed 78* off 27 balls at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2019.
  • India have won just one of six T20Is at the Wankhede Stadium.

Does the result of the match depend on who bats first? It could prove the case. Also, West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard has played a lot of cricket at the Wankhede for Mumbai Indians, so knows the ground well.

However, India’s experience and ability to win deciders should hold them in good stead.

PAK vs SL 1st Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

PAK vs SL 1st Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | PAK vs SL 1st Test Prediction Today | Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 1st Test Dream11 Prediction

After 10 long years, Test cricket finally returns to Pakistan.

And the timing could not be better for the home side. Life under Misbah-ul-Haq has not had a happy beginning, with Pakistan suffering from poor form across formats. Whether it is T20Is or Tests, Pakistan have flopped, losing each of their last eight internationals. Now is the time to fix that.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are more up-and-down. Perhaps the most up-and-down Test side in the world. Their year began with two thrashings in Australia, followed closely by becoming the first Asian team to win a Test series in South Africa. Then, an awful second Test against New Zealand, where they lost a rain-affected match.

Former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur at the helm is a fine narrative for this series. Will it be he who comes to cause further hurt for Pakistan, weather permitting?

Key to a Pakistan win

The bowlers were ineffective down-under, so-much-so that Ian Chappell couldn’t remember any worse touring attacks on Australian shores.

That has to hit hard from a Pakistan perspective. So, eyes will be on the pace bowlers as they respond to their difficult time in Australia, along with Yasir Shah who shone with bat rather than ball. Can Mohammad Abbas, a bowler with a reputation for being underrated, remind us all of his ability? Importantly, who will support him well?

Also, the batsmen struggled down-under, which was particularly disappointing given the good batting surfaces. Babar Azam and Yasir Shah, of all people, stood out, with a bit of Asad Shafiq, Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan in the mix. Now, Pakistan need a strong display from top-down, including Fawad Alam, who makes his long-awaited return.

PAK vs SL 1st Test Dream11: Babar Azam was excellent in Australia.

Key to a Sri Lanka win

Pakistan will be out for redemption. Sri Lanka’s batsmen will be out to put a stop to it. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, who has been excellent at times in the past 18 months, will be key in giving his side a good start.

Indeed, a good start is crucial for a Sri Lankan side that possesses quite unpredictable talent in its middle order. Kusal Mendis continues to be inconsistent, while Kusal Perera has moments of brilliance (who could forget this?). Angelo Mathews has threatened to hit his best form in 2019, but it has to come together now.

PAK vs SL 1st Test Dream11: Skipper Karunaratne will be vital for SL.

Also, the loss of Suranga Lakmal to dengue fever is a blow. Underrated, Lakmal’s effort provides the team with plenty of value that his replacement has to replicate. Can the seamers expose Pakistan’s lack of confidence, of which the spinners can then build on?

Possible Playing 11

Skipper Azhar Ali is another player that has to step up for Pakistan. However, whether he bats at opener or three remains to be seen here. That depends on whether Pakistan play Fawad Alam, who usually bats at five domestically, at three.

Pakistan: 1. Shan Masood, 2. Abid Ali/Imam-ul-Haq, 3. Azhar Ali (c), 4. Babar Azam, 5. Fawad Alam, 6. Asad Shafiq, 7. Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 8. Kashif Bhatti, 9. Yasir Shah, 10. Shaheen Shah Afridi, 11. Mohammad Abbas

The form of Lahiru Thirimanne at the top for Sri Lanka has been a worry. But, it is likely he will be given a chance.

Sri Lanka: 1. Dimuth Karunaratne (c), 2. Lahiru Thirimanne, 3. Kusal Mendis, 4. Angelo Mathews, 5. Kusal Perera, 6. Dhananjaya de Silva, 7. Niroshan Dickwella (wk), 8. Dilruwan Perera, 9. Lasith Embuldeniya, 10. Vishwa Fernando, 11. Lahiru Kamara

Pitch and Conditions

There is some rain forecast on days two, three and four. In regards to the pitch, the Rawalpindi track typically suits the batsmen, before providing some assistance to the spinners later in the match.

Stats and Facts

  • Sri Lanka beat Pakistan 2-0 in the UAE in 2017; they became the first team to win a series over Pakistan in their adopted home since their move there in 2009.
  • Pakistan are yet to get off the mark in the World Test Championship. Sri Lanka have 60 points.
  • Fawad Alam in FC Cricket since his last Test: 114 matches, 8,340 runs, 28 centuries, average: 57.52.
  • Babar Azam is coming off 210 runs at 52.50 vs Australia.
  • Pakistan have won three, lost three and drawn two in Tests at Rawalpindi.

The hitting ability of the West Indies on show. Followed by the delectable late cuts of KL Rahul. Then; the main meal, a number of scintillating flicks for six by Virat Kohli.

The first T20I was not one for the bowlers. India’s chase of 200+ was a true reflection of their chasing ability in T20Is, cantering to the total as if it were child’s play. For the West Indies, there were positives to take out of the first game, but if they are to keep the series alive, they need greater discipline with the ball.

Key to an India win

Persisting with Shikhar Dhawan over KL Rahul is one of the mistakes India have made in T20Is. KL Rahul completes an excellent top three in T20Is; one where if at least two get going, a big total awaits.

Indeed, the same template as Hyderabad applies here. If India’s top three can put the Windies on the back foot, the game could well be theirs, irrespective of whether they bat first – an Achilles heel for India over the years.

Also read: 4 mistakes India are making in T20Is that could prove costly

But, India’s poor bowling and fielding is an area for improvement. They were often too short with the ball, with their poor fielding adding insult to injury. It didn’t cost them in Hyderabad, but the second T20I is an opportunity to get things right against the Windies’ hard-hitting batsmen.

Key to a West Indies win

Contributions right the way down the order was a pleasing aspect of West Indies’ first up performance. However, with spinners traditionally performing well at the Greenfield International Stadium, the Windies’ batsmen will need to rotate strike well to keep the momentum going.

However, can the Windies’ bowlers bounce back after a tough outing? Kesrick Williams; so encouraging against Afghanistan, perhaps deserves another chance to flummox batsmen with his variations. But, as a whole, the Windies need more than just Sheldon Cottrell holding his own. Can they get the better of India’s dangerous top three?

IND vs WI 2nd T20I Dream11: Can Hetmyer continue his good scores in India?

4 Mistakes India are Making in T20Is that Could Prove Costly

4 Mistakes India are Making in T20Is that Could Prove Costly | India in T20Is | Can India win World T20 2020?

In the T20I series vs West Indies, India recorded a solid 2-1 series victory, courtesy of some outrageous batting from the Indian top order.

However, though the two victories were convincing, India have been making key errors in T20Is for a while now. Despite having a few of the best players in the world and lots of exciting talent at the helm, India hasn’t shown the kind of dominance they do in the other two formats of the game.

Losing a game per series has been a norm for India. Even though it is fine once in a while, India has been a side which hasn’t been quick in learning from mistakes and are still lagging behind a few other teams in this format. Here, we look at the things that India have been doing wrong, and how they can take advantage of their biggest strength.

Error #1: Preferring Shikhar Dhawan over KL Rahul

KL Rahul has a fantastic record in T20Is. While batting in the first T20I vs West Indies, Rahul became the joint third fastest to 1,000 T20I runs, taking only two more innings than Virat Kohli.

It is absurd that he hasn’t been a part of the team in this format on so many occasions. Supremely talented, he has all the shots in the book. He has superb balance at the crease and can play shots all around the ground. But, India has constantly dropped him from the playing XI or have batted him in the middle order, while playing Shikhar Dhawan at the top.

Even though Shikhar’s T20 game has improved, he still lags behind his other partners in terms of strike rate. He often struggles to get going.

On the other hand, KL bats at a very healthy strike rate from the start of the game. Also, his hitting prowess vs spin bowling means he can keep going in the middle overs. KL Rahul for Dhawan should be no brainer. Now, since Dhawan is injured and KL has scored two back-to-back fifties at a good rate, it seems like India will finally persist with him.

KL Rahul has to be a regular for India in T20Is.

Error #2: Slowing Down After Powerplay

A major issue with India; particularly batting first, is that they are often not sure about the ideal score. Very often they are found wanting short of the ideal score because they are too slow in the middle overs. Many times, India has slowed down despite getting a quickfire start, mainly because the likes of Shikhar Dhawan find it hard to clear the boundary rope once fielding restrictions are lifted.

Also, India’s middle-order, apart from Virat Kohli, doesn’t inspire much confidence either. Shreyas Iyer has played a couple of really good knocks but he is yet to be tested against quality pace bowling. Rishabh Pant, who is a dynamic T20 player and can hit boundaries on a consistent basis, hasn’t found his feet, which has added to India’s woes.

The proof? India have a 14-3 record while chasing since the beginning of 2018. When setting a score, this becomes nine wins, eight losses.

Time to move on from Shikhar Dhawan in T20Is?

Error #3: Wasting Opportunities On The Wrong Players

India has often been guilty of mixing formats when selecting their squad; especially for T20Is.

Someone like Mohammed Shami, who has barely done anything in the shortest format of the game, is being included because of his heroics in the longer format. Also, Khaleel Ahmed has played a handful number of games for India in T20Is, and the way he has bowled is far from promising. He lacks the variations required, is inconsistent with yorkers and his obsession with short balls has made him a release-bowler for opponents.

Perhaps the only reason he has got so much game-time is that he is a left-arm bowler. While having a left-arm pacer adds to the variety in a team’s bowling attack, it can’t be a substitute for required skills. His exclusion for the last couple of games suggests that India might finally move away from Khaleel.

4 Mistakes India are Making in T20Is that Could Prove Costly | India in T20Is | Can India win World T20 2020?
Persist with Mohammed Shami in the longer formats only?

Error #4: Substandard Fielding

Despite routine drops in the slips, India is a pretty good fielding side in Tests and even better in ODIs. But, for some reason, India has often been an awful fielding side in T20Is. Fielders are often dropping regulation catches and there are a number of errors in ground fielding.

The worst bit? This has been going on for a while but seems like there has been no improvement at all. In this format, where every run is so important and counts for so much, so many errors so often can prove to be match-changing and fatal.

Things India Are Doing Right

Extremely Talented and Experienced Group Of Core Players

However, it is not all doom-and-gloom. The main thing India has got right in this format (which is a non-tactical one) is the talented bunch of players they have.

Much of India’s core team in T20Is similar to their ODI team. The really good and solid top order of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli and spinners, mainly Yuzvendra Chahal and quality pacer in Jasprit Bumrah; form a really good core. All of them are few of the best players in the world at their respective jobs and on their day, they have the capability to single-handedly change the course of the match.

Verdict

For a top-quality side, India has been making far too many blunders in the shortest format of the game. Even though it seems India are working to rectifying a few of them, there is a lot more work to be done. If India is quick enough in rectifying those errors, it might put them back among the top teams in this format and improve their chances in the WT20 next year.

5 Exciting Players to Watch Out For in BBL09

5 Players to Watch Out For in BBL09 | Best Young Players to Watch Out For in BBL09 | Big Bash League 2019/20

The Big Bash League is one of the best franchise T20 leagues in the world. This season, the addition of AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn, along with many big T20 names, such as, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell and Rashid Khan will take part, creating plenty of excitement.

But, here we look at five players that are not known to everyone, but have the potential to create a buzz in the world cricket community. From Sydney to Perth, here are five young players to watch out for in BBL09.

Tanveer Sangha (Sydney Thunder)

We originally had Oliver Davies as a player to watch. However, he is out for the first few weeks with an arm injury.

But, there is another player to watch from the Sydney Thunder. 18-year old leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha has been superb in Sydney Grade cricket in recent times, to go with his 11 wickets in five outings for Australia U19s earlier in 2019. With Fawad Ahmed having left the Thunder, Sangha is one to watch out for.

2. Jake Fraser-Mcgurk (Melbourne Renegades)

What were you doing when you were 17?

Jake Fraser-McGurk made his First-Class and List A debut for Victoria on 12th and 17th November 2019 respectively. He scored 54 and 41* in his two List A games, with the latter innings sealing an incredible tie for Victoria against South Australia. This proves he has what it takes to bat in crunch situations for his team.

Being selected for the BBL just under a month since his debut shows the talent and quality he possesses. He has been picked by Melbourne Renegades for this year’s BBL and is indeed a player to watch out for.

Jake Fraser-McGurk is a great prospect.

Cameron Green (Perth Scorchers)

Ricky Ponting said that Cameron Green has the potential to be a great all-rounder for Australia. So, that alone tells you he has something.

He is scoring runs for fun in First Class Cricket. His last few scores are 126, 86, 87* and 121 and he has picked 28 wickets in 11 matches. This shows that he is a consistent performer and can help Scorchers lift another BBL trophy.

Unfortunately, though, he will be unable to bowl for sometime due to a stress fracture in his back. However, with his batting form so strong, the Scorchers will be wise to utilise his talents.

Cameron Green has had an outstanding season to date.

Zak Evans (Melbourne Renegades)

19-year-old fast bowler Zak Evans, from Victoria, is another star in the making. He is known to generate some extra pace and is performing very well in U19 and U23 matches. He has picked up 26 wickets in the last seven matches across U19 and U23, with 6/44 his best figures

Playing for Renegades in this BBL he can make everyone talk about him. He, with the likes of Shinwari, can make a very good pace bowling attack for last year’s champions.

Zak Evans is another excellent pace-bowling prospect.

Matt Kelly (Perth Scorchers)

Matt Kelly is a very exciting bowler to watch out for. He possesses good pace, and his yorkers can make any cricket fan jump from their seat. He took 11 wickets from seven matches in the last BBL season, with an average of 19 and strike rate of 14.70. His economy of 7.74 is very good in the shortest format of the game, particularly considering he bowls at the death.

Part of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ squad in IPL 2019, Kelly could become a very important part of the famous Scorchers fast bowling attack and can go through any batting line-up on his day.

IND vs WI 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

IND vs WI 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | IND vs WI 1st T20 Dream11 Prediction Today | India vs West Indies 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction

Context is often a term thrown around in T20Is. At first glance, a series like this doesn’t look to have too much context. However, when you delve a little deeper, one can see the need for both teams to nail their World T20 plans.

Conditions will be different in Australia than India. However, India is a team that requires a bit of a shift in focus, after less-than-convincing displays against South Africa and Bangladesh recently. Sure, players were rested, but those knocking on the door need to knock harder.

West Indies are coming off a series defeat to Afghanistan. The positive for them is that they have been in the country for weeks now, but with the likes of Andre Russell missing, it is important those looking for regular opportunities make a mark less than a year out from the World T20.

Key to an India win

Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of this series. So, KL Rahul, who many believe should be India’s T20I opener, has the chance to make that spot well and truly his own. Indeed, India’s top three, which includes Rohit and Virat, will be after a quick start that can often elude them in T20Is.

Then, the middle order, including the in-form Shreyas Iyer, will be out to complete the job well. But, importantly, can Rishabh Pant (if picked) shake off the poor run of form with his own significant score?

Also, some of India’s big guns with the ball make a return. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami will be key at both ends of the innings, with Deepak Chahar, coming off a hat-trick, key as well. With India possessing capable spin options, limiting boundaries can work wonders.

Key to a West Indies win

West Indies struggled chasing against Afghanistan recently. Their lack of strike rotation is something to rectify against India, with their top order crucial in setting up a platform against India’s pace and spin options.

However, a positive was their bowlers adjusting well to the conditions in Lucknow. They largely kept the Afghan batsmen in check, but India represents a bigger challenge. Can they make inroads into India’s top order to target the middle order as soon as possible? The more they can get India in rebuilding mode, the better their chance of containing the home side.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. KL Rahul, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Shivam Dube, 6. Rishabh Pant/Sanju Samson (wk), 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Deepak Chahar, 11. Yuzvendra Chahal/Kuldeep Yadav

West Indies: 1. Evin Lewis, 2. Lendl Simmons, 3. Shimron Hetmyer, 4. Brandon King, 5. Denesh Ramdin (wk), 6. Kieron Pollard (c), 7. Jason Holder, 8. Keemo Paul, 9. Kharry Pierre, 10. Kesrick Williams, 11. Sheldon Cottrell/Hayden Walsh

Pitch and Conditions

The only T20I scheduled for Hyderabad (India vs Australia 2017) was washed out. The Hyderabad pitch can tend to be of slower nature in IPL cricket. Rain in the lead up to the match has been a challenge for groundstaff, but with weather set to be fine, with dew to set, the team who wins the toss could be tempted to chase.

Stats and Facts

  • Rohit Sharma (425) and Virat Kohli (318) have the most runs in India v West Indies contests.
  • Evin Lewis has 242 runs against India in six T20Is.
  • KL Rahul has a century vs West Indies, averaging 63.00 against them in six matches.
  • Deepak Chahar took 3/4 in his T20I appearance vs West Indies earlier in 2019. He is also coming off 6/7 vs Bangladesh.
  • India have won the past six T20Is vs West Indies.
  • Nicholas Pooran will be serving the fourth match of his four-game suspension for ball tampering.
