CPL 2019 Final: GAW vs BT Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report. GAW vs BT Dream11 Team Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

Fifth time lucky? Or fifth time heartbroken?

Revenge? Or a fourth defeat to the same team in a single season?

These are the questions facing Guyana Amazon Warriors and Barbados Tridents respectively ahead of the CPL 2019 Final. GAW, now in their fifth final, have never won the competition. After four defeats in finals, GAW arguably look best placed now than ever with the addition of key personnel and an incredible 11 wins in 11 games in CPL 2019.

But, can BT right the wrongs of a very difficult Qualifier 1 match and put GAW under pressure? Can BT force GAW to get out of sticky situations in a match where they have historically struggled? Can they create some panic? It remains to be seen in what promises to be a very interesting Final.

CPL style.

Key to a GAW win

Brandon King’s 132 is etched in CPL folklore. He achieved the highest individual score in CPL history, but most impressive was the swagger and confidence he played with. His challenge will be to have another big impact in the Final, but GAW still need a team effort. If the likes of Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran can extract some damage, the cog that is Shoaib Malik can further hold things together en route to a big total.

CPL 2019 Final: GAW vs BT Preview Dream11: A T20 star.

However, GAW face a possibly bigger challenge. The dew was heavy in Tarouba in Qualifier 2, which can be difficult for GAW’s spinners to deal with. Indeed, the spinners have been a key reason for GAW’s incredible season, with the likes Imran Tahir and Chris Green enjoying strong campaigns. So, can they handle the pressure and dew with equal effectiveness, following on from Hayden Walsh Jr and Ashley Nurse’s fine effort in the dew on Thursday evening?

Key to a BT win

Alex Hales has had an underwhelming campaign. Add Shakib Al Hasan’s quiet last few games and BT have found themselves a little stretched on the batting front. With JP Duminy in doubt after picking up a leg injury in Qualifier 2, the contributions of Hales, Shakib and Johnson Charles could prove crucial. Can they place pressure on GAW’s spin attack, which forces Shoaib Malik to turn away from Plan A? With the likes of Jonathan Carter, Jason Holder and Ashley Nurse all capable of wielding the willow down the order, a strong platform from the top order could mean CPL glory.

Also, a significant advantage BT could have is the match they have had in Tarouba dew. Their bowling attack, despite Seekkuge Prasanna’s rapid fifty, held its own very well in challenging conditions, of which they can look to repeat in the Final. Apart from Shakib in Qualifier 2, the remaining five bowlers shared nine wickets. Against GAW’s strong lineup, bowling in partnerships will prove crucial.

Romario Shepherd took three wickets in Qualifier 1 but went for 50 runs.

GAW: 1. Brandon King, 2. Chandrapaul Hemraj, 3. Shimron Hetmyer, 4. Shoaib Malik (c), 5. Nicholas Pooran (wk), 6. Sherfane Rutherford, 7. Chris Green, 8. Keemo Paul, 9. Ben Laughlin/Romario Shepherd, 10. Odean Smith, 11. Imran Tahir

He did come back out to bat, but it remains to be seen if JP Duminy is fully fit for the Final after retiring hurt with a leg injury during Qualifier 2.

BT: 1. Johnson Charles, 2. Alex Hales, 3. Shakib Al Hasan, 4. JP Duminy, 5. Shai Hope (wk), 6. Jonathan Carter, 7. Jason Holder (c), 8. Ashley Nurse, 9. Raymon Reifer, 10. Hayden Walsh Jr, 11. Harry Gurney

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Brian Lara Stadium is often on the slower side. Also, dew could play a key role, so the team who wins the toss will be very tempted to bowl first. Rain is expected to stay away.

Stats and Facts

  • GAW have won their last four games against BT, including three this season.
  • Hayden Walsh JR has taken 21 wickets in CPL 2019. He needs two wickets to go past Fawad Ahmed (22) on the list of most wickets in a single CPL season. Dwayne Bravo (28 in 2015) leads this list.
  • Brandon King (453 runs) leads CPL 2019 for runs scored.
  • GAW have never won a CPL Title, despite making the Final four previous times. BT beat GAW in the 2014 Final.

Match Prediction

GAW have easily been the best side of CPL 2019, but a bad day could mean nothing to show for it. However, this season could finally be the one they break their duck, given the number of match-winners in their team.

BT will challenge, but GAW will prevail.

CPL 2019 Qualifier 2: BT vs TKR Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report. BT vs TKR Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

So, who will it be to try inflict a fifth defeat on Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL Finals; the team that has won 11 out of 11 matches in CPL 2019?

Whether Barbados Tridents want that challenge after being on the end of a Brandon King onslaught in Qualifier 1 remains to be seen. How quickly they can get off the blocks might prove critical against a star-studded Trinbago Knight Riders, who broke a losing streak in their win against St Kitts.

Key to a Barbados Tridents win

When Shakib Al Hasan, Hayden Walsh Jr and Harry Gurney go for a combined 134 runs off 12 overs, BT are always going to be up against it. Along with Jason Holder, these three bowlers can offer plenty against the likes of Lendl Simmons, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro and Kieron Pollard. Unlike Qualifier 1, can BT stem the runs with regular dot balls and wickets?

Also, with plenty of experience at the top of the order, along with hitting capabilities further down, BT will be craving for a strong powerplay that sets the tone. The return of Sunil Narine took TKR to another level in their Eliminator, so how well they keep the score ticking against he and the likes of Chris Jordan, Kharry Pierre and Ali Khan will be key. The stage is set for the internationals Alex Hales, Shakib Al Hasan and JP Duminy to deliver with the bat.

CPL 2019 Qualifier 2: BT vs TKR Preview Dream11 – Pollard to go big?

Key to a Trinbago Knight Riders

Sunil Narine bowled 19 dot balls in his return to the team, soon before GAW plundered 218 against TKR’s opponents in this match. With Narine in such form, the rest of the bowling attack can create chances as the batsmen could look to release the pressure. Chris Jordan is one such threat, with the experienced bowler tasked with picking up wickets as he did, along with Ali Khan, in the last game.

However, TKR need to answer the questions regarding their batting. The up-and-down form of Colin Munro and Darren Bravo has put pressure on Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard to deliver the goods. When you also add Denesh Ramdin’s almighty crawl in the Eliminator, TKR need to ensure they don’t rely too heavily on Simmons and Pollard in another crucial game.

Possible Playing 11

BT: 1. Johnson Charles (wk), 2. Alex Hales, 3. Shakib Al Hasan, 4. Shai Hope, 5. JP Duminy, 6. Jonathan Carter, 7. Jason Holder (c), 8. Raymon Reifer, 9. Ashley Nurse, 10. Hayden Walsh Jr, 11. Harry Gurney

TKR: 1. Lendl Simmons, 2. Sunil Narine, 3. Colin Munro, 4. Darren Bravo, 5. Denesh Ramdin (wk), 6. Kieron Pollard (c), 7. Chris Jordan, 8. Kharry Pierre, 9. Seekkuge Prasanna, 10. Ali Khan, 11. Akeal Hossain

Pitch and Conditions

The Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad is yet to host a match in CPL 2019 to date. It was the same case last season, with a winning 165 scored by TKR in the 2nd Qualifier. The pitch is usually a little slower at this ground, and could be the case again. However, rain could interrupt this one.

Stats and Facts

  • Trinbago Knight Riders won both their games at Tarouba in CPL 2018, to win the Title.
  • Colin Munro scored 68 off 39 balls on this ground in the CPL 2018 Final. Kharry Pierre was man of the match with his 3/29.
  • Hayden Walsh (19) is the highest wicket-taker in CPL 2019.
  • Lendl Simmons is now second in the list of most runs in CPL 2019, overtaken by Brandon King.

IND vs SA 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing XI Pitch Report

IND vs SA 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing XI Pitch Report. India vs South Africa 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Prediction.

The Vizag Test was not all surprising from an India perspective. Rohit Sharma made the perfect start to life as an opener. Mayank Agarwal played the big breakthrough innings in Test cricket. Cheteshwar Pujara started slowly before being abused into action.

The spinners, particularly Ravichandran Ashwin, had their say. Mohammed Shami, anonymous in the first innings, showed up big time in the second. In the end, it was a 203-run win after winning a toss that forced Faf du Plessis to look back at his dressing room begging for forgiveness.

But, what was surprising was South Africa making a superb 431 with the bat. Optimists will certainly hold onto that as hope ahead of the Pune Test, while pessimists will point to the 203-run loss despite such a big effort. The Proteas’ bowling haemorrhaged runs at alarming rates in Vizag, which ultimately hurt them the most. Can they put another big effort, this time with better strategy and execution?

Key to an India win

Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander held much of South Africa’s hopes on the opening day in Vizag. However, when Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma blunted the new ball, the Proteas knew they were in trouble. This time, South Africa could look at playing more to their strength (pace) with the possible inclusion of Lungi Ngidi, which calls for the Indian top order batsmen to be on their game again.

It is one thing to have a great game in Test cricket, but a significant challenge is following it up with another.

Virat Kohli, largely quiet in Vizag, will want another solid platform from his top three. With Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari in superb touch in the Caribbean recently, India can again look forward to piling on the pressure against Keshav Maharaj and co by blunting South Africa’s pace aspirations.

Also, the quality of India’s spinners in these conditions was in stark contrast to South Africa’s. Accuracy and pressure from Ashwin and Jadeja will force the Proteas’ batsmen to look elsewhere for their release, which can create opportunities for Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami.

India often gain an advantage at home thanks to a flurry of wickets. If they do the same here, the pressure on South Africa’s big guns might be too much to handle.

IND vs SA 2nd Test Preview Dream11: Rohit was superb

Key to a South Africa win

The toss can play a crucial role. But, teams who have won the toss in recent years in India have seldom gone on to win the Test. So, South Africa need more than the toss to go their way to have a say in this clash.

Indeed, the bowling was a major let down in Vizag. The spinners were unable to build pressure, often bowling one or two boundary-balls per over which kept the Indian batsmen in total control. Here, South Africa need to strike with the new ball, which will require Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada to attack the stumps a lot more. Then, Keshav Maharaj, South Africa’s premier spinner, needs to bowl with greater control if he is to give his side a foothold in the match.

But, can the batting fire, too? Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock led the way, with fine efforts from Faf du Plessis and Senuran Muthusamy along the way. However, the Proteas need more than the occasional big stand, but rather a team effort with contributions all the way down. Elgar, de Kock and du Plessis will be of huge importance again, but the likes of Aiden Markram, Theunis de Bruyn and Temba Bavuma must play with greater discipline.

IND vs SA 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing XI Pitch Report. India vs South Africa 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Prediction.
IND vs SA 2nd Test Preview Dream11: South Africa need wickets from Kagiso Rabada.

Possible Playing 11

India had a good win in the first Test and have little reason to change their XI.

India: 1. Mayank Agarwal, 2. Rohit Sharma, 3. Cheteshwar Pujara, 4. Virat Kohli (c), 5. Ajinkya Rahane, 6. Hanuma Vihari, 7. Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 8. Ravichandran Ashwin, 9. Ravindra Jadeja, 10. Ishant Sharma, 11. Mohammed Shami

It is not as straightforward for South Africa. Dane Piedt conceded over 200 runs in his 31 overs in Vizag, and is at long odds of keeping his spot despite his second innings half-century. The Proteas need control, even if it means playing an extra seamer.

South Africa: 1. Dean Elgar, 2. Aiden Markram, 3. Theunis de Bruyn, 4. Temba Bavuma, 5. Faf du Plessis (c), 6. Quinton de Kock (wk), 7. Senuran Muthusamy, 8. Vernon Philander, 9. Keshav Maharaj, 10. Kagiso Rabada, 11. Lungi Ngidi

Pitch and Conditions

Pune is certainly a mystery. Since 2011-12, only two grounds have a higher batting average than Pune’s 35.82 in First Class cricket. However, it is not the same in Test cricket, where India were rolled for 105 and 107 on a ‘poor’ rated pitch vs Australia in 2017.

Plenty of rain has fallen in Pune in the past couple of weeks, which has impacted preparations. Quite a bit of grass is still expected to be removed, but the pitch is unlikely to be as dry as the one in 2017. Expect this to be a bat first pitch with something in it for the bowlers early and then plenty of turn as the match wears on due to the heat. Also, like Vizag, some rain could fall in the afternoons.

Stats and Facts

  • Rohit Sharma became the first batsman to hit twin centuries in his first Test as opener. He also hit the record number of sixes in a Test (14).
  • Ravichandran Ashwin has moved back into the top 10 for bowlers. Quinton de Kock moved into the top 10 for batsmen.
  • The Pune pitch is one of the flattest in Indian first-class cricket: average of 35.82 per wicket since 2011-12.
  • Of the Indian players set to play this Test, Cheteshwar Pujara top scored in the only previous Pune Test with 31.
  • South Africa’s last Test win in India was in 2010 (winless in next six).

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I Preview Dream11

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I Preview Dream11. PAK vs SL 3rd T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction. Pitch Report Possible Playing 11

Who saw this coming?

Pakistan, the number one T20I team, has lost a series to a team that has to qualify to play in the main stage of next year’s World T20. With a number of their key players missing. That too at home. Pakistan may have used this series as a chance to experiment, but why not give up-and-coming talent a chance rather than perennial disappointments Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal? Indeed, the pressure is on Sarfaraz Ahmed and the coaching staff.

Anyway, that’s a conversation for another time, as no credit should be taken away from Sri Lanka. The emergence of new talent has been a huge win for the Lions on their tour of Pakistan, with numerous players having surely booked their seat on the plane to Australia. Can Sri Lanka put in one more fine display and leave Pakistan with a superb 3-0 sweep?

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I: A fair point.

Key to a Pakistan win

Plenty has been made of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal, but the shortcomings of Babar Azam this series have also been costly. He is usually the rock of a Pakistan’s T20I innings, and a key reason why they have enjoyed a good record over the past two years. Today, both he and Fakhar Zaman need to provide a start that Pakistan’s flailing middle order can build on. Imad Wasim, with his batting capabilities, should be propelling Pakistan further, rather than saving them from total embarrassment.

Also, it has been an underwhelming series for Mohammad Amir. One of Pakistan’s stars at the recent World Cup has been short of pace and threat, and has been picked off with ease this series. If picked, Amir will be tasked with picking up powerplay wickets to push Sri Lanka back, with then an equal mix of pace and spin to keep the pressure on. So, should Pakistan give Shadab Khan this game off?

Key to a Sri Lanka win

This series has truly been a breath of fresh air for Sri Lanka. Dinushka Gunathilaka has been in fine touch, but the form of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, in just his second T20I, is something all of Sri Lanka will hope to see again. With Shehan Jayasuriya and Dasun Shanaka also in fine touch this tour, Sri Lanka can look forward to another strong batting display.

Also, how good has Nuwan Pradeep been? Ahead of the first T20I, a key for the Lankans was how Pradeep would go, given how good he can be on his day. His 4/25 in the second match was good enough to win man of the match most days, and if he can produce wonderful line and lengths again, Pakistan could be in for another tough day. When you add Isuru Udana’s wicket-taking abilities, the rest of the attack lifts.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I Preview Dream11. PAK vs SL 3rd T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction. Pitch Report Possible Playing 11
Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I: Wanindu Hasaranga has lifted.

Possible Playing 11

Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal and Shadab Khan are the three most likely to face the drop for Pakistan. Haris Sohail, Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz could get a run in this one.

Pakistan: 1. Fakhar Zaman, 2. Babar Azam, 3. Haris Sohail, 4 Sarfraz Ahmed (c & wk), 5. Iftikhar Ahmed, 6. Asif Ali, 7. Imad Wasim, 8. Shadab Khan/Mohammad Nawaz, 9. Wahab Riaz, 10. Mohammad Amir, 11. Mohammad Hasnain

Sri Lanka could look at experimentation, but their XI is on song right now.

Sri Lanka: 1. Danushka Gunathilaka, 2. Avishka Fernando, 3. Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 4. Shehan Jayasuriya, 5. Minod Bhanuka (wk), 6. Dasun Shanaka (c), 7. Wanindu Hasaranga, 8. Isuru Udana, 9. Lakshan Sandakan, 10. Kasun Rajitha, 11. Nuwan Pradeep

Pitch and Conditions

Good batting conditions are expected again, which shows how poor Pakistan’s batting has been. Also, dew is expected to have little impact.

Stats and Facts

  • Pakistan have lost five of six T20Is in 2019. Sri Lanka have won their past three T20Is.
  • In the first T20I, Pakistan lost their last seven wickets for 33 runs. In the second match, they lost 5/20 to end the match.
  • Sri Lanka have never won a T20I series 3-0. Incredibly, seven of their XI had less than 10 matches of experience before this series.
  • Babar Azam vs Sri Lanka in T20Is: 5 matches, 52 runs, average 13.00.
  • Nuwan Pradeep and Isuru Udana have taken a combined 12 wickets in two matches.

India vs South Africa 1st Test Player Ratings

India vs South Africa 1st Test Player Ratings. IND vs SA 1st Test Player Ratings. Player Ratings for IND vs SA 1st Test

Faf du Plessis lost a part of his soul when he lost the toss.

So, Rohit Sharma immediately had the chance to repay the faith, with dedicated Rohit fan accounts set to either have a busy day or the temptation to deactivate. Busy they were, as Rohit and Mayank Agarwal kept the rest of the Indian team as inactive as the BCCI Twitter account.

Back to du Plessis. His groans, ooh’s, aah’s and what not from first slip was South Africa’s only impact on the first day. However, he finished the Test ‘proud’ of his team after coming back into the game in their first innings. However, South Africa’s lack of control with the ball, combined with nervy second innings batting got the better of them as we saw why India is the toughest road trip in world cricket right now.

Each player will be rated out of 10, CricBlog style. Always room for a little humour!

India

Mayank Agarwal: A magnificent debut home Test. As South Africa toiled, Mayank filled his boots to score his first century. He made it a very big one, reaching his double century on the second afternoon. Rohit’s twin innings heroics perhaps overshadows Mayank a touch, but he was superb. 10

Rohit Sharma: Will Rohit succeed or fail as a Test opener? Such was the build up that you could have mistaken the series as Rohit vs South Africa. However, Rohit answered the questions as best he could, becoming the first man in Test history to score twin centuries in his first Test as opener. Also, unlike Ravi Shastri, Rohit was able to get the best out of Cheteshwar Pujara. Ben Stokes style. What a Test. 10

India vs South Africa 1st Test Player Ratings. IND vs SA 1st Test Player Ratings. Player Ratings for IND vs SA 1st Test
India vs South Africa 1st Test Player Ratings: Rohit, the coach.

Cheteshwar Pujara: Before the ‘abuse’ hurled at him by Rohit in the second dig, Pujara sat on 8 off 61 balls. In contrast, Rohit had 48 in 70 balls. His start to the innings was certainly peculiar, given that India had to score quite quickly to set an imposing total and give themselves enough time to bowl South Africa out again. However, after the ‘Ben Stokes’ comment, ChePu scored 73 runs in 67 balls. Step aside, Shastri, who needs time in the nets to score? Just Ben Stokes the guy. 8

India vs South Africa 1st Test Player Ratings: ChePu changed gears big time.

Virat Kohli: Late declaration to ensure greater safety or the will to satisfy the desire to hit rival Kagiso Rabada for at least one boundary? A quiet Test for Kohli, who will be out for a big second match. Led the team pretty well. 6

Ajinkya Rahane: From walking in at three for not many in the West Indies to 3/377 in India, Rahane experienced quite the contrast. He did little to improve his peculiar home record, but his strokeplay in the second dig was a sight to behold. 5

Hanuma Vihari: Another star from the Caribbean that was not needed here. Almost as inactive as the BCCI Twitter account. Yes, that’s my new saying. 4

Wriddhiman Saha: Those in favour of Rishabh Pant had a lovely moment when Saha grassed a catch in the first innings off Dean Elgar. However, all in all, he was relatively safe behind the stumps. A highlight was his fine catch to dismiss Theunis de Bruyn in the first innings. 5

Ravichandran Ashwin: With a stock ball as beautiful as R Ashwin’s, it is incredible to think why he turns to the variations so often, particularly overseas. However, take nothing away from his feat of equalling Murali’s record of 350 wickets in 66 Tests. The control and consistency he displayed was a far cry to that of the South African spinners. 9

Ravindra Jadeja: Poor in the first innings by usual standards, but roared back in the second innings. Ravindra Shami. 7.5

Ishant Sharma: A challenging track for a tall seamer looking to extract bounce. However, a play Ishant could look at is bowling around the wicket to left-handers, targeting the stumps. 6

Mohammed Shami: A second innings exhibition from the second innings specialist. Opposite to the usual occurrence of spinners dominating the fourth innings of a Test in India, Shami ripped through South Africa on the final day with some brilliant bowling. He targeted the stumps, but just short enough to have the South Africans rooted to the crease. 8.5

South Africa

Dean Elgar: Guts, grit and determination. A superb first innings century that gave South Africa a say in the match. After the first two days represented a WhatsApp group chat where only Indian players were chatting, Dean Elgar entered the conversation nicely. 8

Aiden Markram: If making a start then getting out was an Olympic sport, Markram’s neck could easily break due to the weight of all the medals. I said he will step up. He better. 4

Theunis de Bruyn: Adrenalin junky? Lover of bungee jumping? Sky diving? None of that compares to de Bruyn reaching and trying to drive and cut Ashwin against the turn. 2

Temba Bavuma: Pace was Bavuma’s downfall in both knocks. The Proteas need him to step up, with his low centre of gravity a handy trait to have in these conditions. 3

Faf du Plessis: His field placements in the second innings, where South Africa needed to limit the scoring, left a little to be desired. However, his first innings fifty helped get South Africa a foothold in the match. Good effort after the pure devastation of losing the toss! 6

Quinton de Kock: As the Twitter feed was graced with Pant and de Kock jokes, Quinton highlighted his class. His first innings century was brilliant and will now be tasked with following it up after a disappointing second innings. 8

Senuran Muthusamy: This guy can certainly bat. 82 unbeaten runs on debut in alien conditions is outstanding, giving the top order hope that if they can step up, they have resistance down the order to hurt India. If Muthusamy can bowl with a little more control, the Proteas will have a fine Test all-rounder on their hands. 7

Vernon Philander: South Africa lost the toss, which was out of their control. But, hitting the stumps is in their control, and Philander should be doing just that in these conditions. Instead, the majority of his deliveries in his first spell were missing the stumps. It is no coincidence that his two wickets were bowled and LBW. A pair topped off a challenging Test. 5

Keshav Maharaj: South Africa’s big spin hope was under par in this match. His good deliveries were offset by very loose ones, unable to build pressure throughout the match. Needs to be more consistent. 4

Dane Piedt: A superb 56 is unlikely to save Dane’s spot, much to the disappointment of Rohit Sharma. Far too many loose deliveries in a match where his figures read: 31-4-209-1. 2.5

Kagiso Rabada: A tough Test where South Africa’s premier bowler took just one wicket. Luck wasn’t on his side, but it is time to look to take the stumps out. The Proteas need more from KG. 4

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I Preview Dream11

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I Preview Dream11. PAK vs SL 2nd T20I Dream11 Prediction. Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report. Dream11 for PAK vs SL

Was the first T20I result a surprise? Yes. Were Pakistan’s selections surprising? Even more so. The result? A heavy loss.

Pakistan began life poorly under Misbah-ul-Haq in the T20I format. Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal, two players who have underwhelmed for Pakistan over the years, were given the nod ahead of Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail. It didn’t work, with the two combining for four off 10 balls, which included a first-ball duck for Umar Akmal. Will it be a change of personnel and fortune for Pakistan this time around?

However, take no credit away from Sri Lanka. Danushka Gunathilaka continued on from his fine showing in the ODIs, with Dasun Shanaka providing some late blows. But, it was the bowlers who stole the show in the absence of Lasith Malinga, reducing Pakistan to 22/3 and never looking back. Will they take out the series?

Key to a Pakistan win

From a near nasty collision in the field, to passive batting and then to comical running, it certainly was a night to forget for Pakistan. Their selections were so questionable that their fortunes in the second T20I might hinge on whether they make the appropriate changes, such as recent third ODI centurion Fakhar Zaman and strong World Cup performer Haris Sohail.

However, Pakistan were favourites at the innings break in the first match. With Sri Lanka flying at 10 an over in the powerplay, a total larger than 165 looked on the cards. But, Pakistan’s bowling at the death was one positive in a grim night, which calls for a repeat in the second match. But, to increase chances of victory, Pakistan must be sharper in the powerplay and middle overs. Can the likes of Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan provide greater impact?

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I Preview Dream11: Babar will be key again.

Key to a Sri Lanka win

Can Danushka Gunathilaka continue his superb tour of Pakistan? If so, Sri Lanka will have another excellent platform to play off. With Avishka Fernando spending some time in the middle (albeit a little scratchy) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa showing promise, Sri Lanka’s top three will be tasked with repeating their efforts of the first match. Can Sri Lanka finish off better this time around?

Indeed, with such a dominant showing in the powerplay with both bat and ball, Sri Lanka’s template for victory has been set. Nuwan Pradeep and Isuru Udana ripped through the Pakistani top order, including the prize wicket of Babar Azam, courtesy of good-to-full lengths to dry up the Pakistan scoring early. If they can do so again, it reduces the pressure on spinners Lakshan Sandakan and Wanindu Hasaranga, who are looking for their best form.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I Preview Dream11: Gunathilaka is in great touch.

Possible Playing 11

Fakhar Zaman for Ahmed Shehzad? Possibly. One certainty though is that loss here will increase the pressure on captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Pakistan: 1. Fakhar Zaman, 2. Babar Azam, 3. Umar Akmal, 4. Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), 5. Iftikhar Ahmed, 6. Asif Ali, 7. Imad Wasim, 8. Faheem Ashraf, 9. Shadab Khan, 10. Mohammad Amir, 11. Mohammad Hasnain

Sri Lanka have every reason to stick with the same XI that won the first T20I.

Sri Lanka: 1. Danushka Gunathilaka, 2. Avishka Fernando, 3. Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 4. Shehan Jayasuriya, 5. Minod Bhanuka (wk), 6. Dasun Shanaka (c), 7. Wanindu Hasaranga, 8. Isuru Udana, 9. Lakshan Sandakan, 10. Kasun Rajitha, 11. Nuwan Pradeep

Pitch and Conditions

The scoring was rapid in the early stages of the first T20I, before slowing down rapidly as the match went on. However, the pitch did look good for batting, and if batsmen are willing to play as many percentage shots as possible, runs will be on offer. A pretty clear evening is forecast.

Stats and Facts

  • Pakistan, the number one T20I side, have now lost four of their past five T20Is.
  • Sri Lanka have the chance to win their first T20 series (of more than one game) since Bangladesh in 2018.
  • It has been lean pickings for Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal in T20Is. Akmal hasn’t scored a T20I fifty since February 2016. For Shehzad, September 2017.
  • Babar Azam has an underwhelming T20I record vs Sri Lanka to date: 49 runs in four innings (average 16). Is this the day he fires?
  • Shadab Khan in T20Is 2019: Average 44, economy rate: 9.42.

CPL 2019 Qualifier 1: GAW vs BT Preview Dream11

CPL 2019 Qualifier 1: GAW vs BT Preview Dream11. Possible Playing XI and Pitch Report. GAW vs BT Dream11 Prediction

It is not often that such a huge gap appears between first and second place in a T20 table.

Or any table for that matter.

Guyana Amazon Warriors, far and away the best side of CPL 2019, completed the perfect ten ahead of the playoffs. They finished a huge 10 points in front of their nearest competitor in a show of total dominance in the league stage. Now, they are just one game away from their fifth attempt at gaining CPL glory. Will this FINALLY be their time?

Standing in their way are the Barbados Tridents. Remarkably, BT sat outside the top four with two games still to play, and yet finished in second place thanks to two strong performances to finish the league stage. They have been outplayed comfortably twice by GAW this season, but can they turn the tables and be the first team to reach the CPL 2019 Final?

Key to a GAW win

Whatever the Warriors have faced this season, they have come through with flying colours. The experience of Shoaib Malik has been a magnificent addition for GAW this season, with his own form combining beautifully with the influence he has on his teammates. GAW’s second last match saw them reduced to 8/4, but with Malik leading the way, the Warriors have proved indestructible so far.

So, can GAW put together the perfect batting displays in the crunch games? King and Hemraj, the hard-hitting openers, have been key to their success. If Malik, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran and Sherfan Rutherford get a strong platform to play off, it could mean bad news for the Tridents.

Also, GAW’s superb spin attack has been a key part of their wonderful tournament. Imran Tahir remains hot property in the T20 world after his international retirement, and with Chris Green and Qais Ahmed consistent, the Warriors can bank on at least nine overs of quality spin bowling. The Tridents have plenty of talent in their side, which the Warriors need to stifle right from the early stages.

CPL 2019 Qualifier 1: Can Malik continue his great form?

Key to a BT win

If there is a side that can trouble GAW in a game like this, it is the Tridents. The addition of Shakib Al Hasan has improved the Tridents in the later league matches, producing crunch performances as a team to reach second place. Much rests on how the top order copes with the spin threat of GAW, setting a strong platform for a total that can put the Warriors under pressure.

Also, can the Tridents trouble the Warriors’ top order? In Shakib, Jason Holder and Harry Gurney, BT have both wicket-taking and run-limiting capacity in the powerplay overs. How they fare against GAW’s hard-hitting opening combination could have a say in the result, as well as how Hayden Walsh, who has had a superb tournament, fares against the Warriors’ experienced middle order.

CPL 2019 Eliminator 1: SKTNP vs TKR Preview Dream11. Dream11 Team for SKTNP vs TKR. Possible Playing XI. Pitch Report. Dream11 Prediction

After 30 matches in cricket’s biggest party, the CPL 2019 playoffs are set to kick off in Guyana.

Specifically, it kicks off as a battle between redemption and experience. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, who have never won a CPL tournament, will be out to gain revenge. After all, Trinbago Knight Riders have been their nemesis the past two seasons, with the current back-to-back champions ending STKNP’s dream in both 2017 and 2018.

STKNP have a great chance to get one better over their nemesis this time around. The Knight Riders, who finished top of the league in each of their two triumphs, crawled into the playoffs this time around with five straight losses in completed matches. However, the most successful team in CPL history have the chance to peak at the right time, and if they hit their best form now, the remaining teams better watch out.

Key to a STKNP win

The Patriots have enjoyed quite the escapes in CPL 2019, with one coming against today’s opponents in a thriller. With just one batsman (Evin Lewis) in the top 10 run-scorers of CPL 2019, STKNP’s middle-lower order has stepped up in times of need to deliver crucial wins.

In the big games, though, Carlos Brathwaite’s team need to ensure he and the likes of Fabian Allen can look to finish the innings well, rather than rescue it. After missing out on the top two, the Patriots have no room for error, putting onus on the likes of Lewis, Mohammad Hafeez and Shamarh Brooks to deliver the goods up front.

Also, in one of the most incredible wins, the Patriots enjoyed another amazing escape in their last league game. Dominic Drakes, son of Vasbert, delivered a fine over under pressure to seal the Patriots’ entry into the playoffs. Indeed, the number of pressure situations the Patriots have found themselves in can hold them in good stead, and if the likes of Sheldon Cottrell can deliver early scalps – particularly Lendl Simmons – they could well be on their way to the next match.

CPL 2019 Eliminator 1: Can Brathwaite help his team get a win?

Key to a TKR win

After four straight wins to kick off CPL 2019, TKR’s campaign hit a wall in their thrilling meeting against today’s opponents. That was the first of five straight losses in completed matches, with the poor form of St Lucia Zouks and Jamaica Tallawahs to thank for sneaking into the playoffs.

The batting has not fired in recent times as many know it can. In Lendl Simmons, Colin Munro, Kieron Pollard and Jimmy Neesham, TKR possess the experience many sides crave, and it is now that they need to click. Simmons has been superb in topping the run-scoring chart, but needs more effective support from his top order mates in paving the way for the middle order to build on.

Also, can TKR’s bowlers deliver the goods? The Patriots’ top order has shown a tendency to stumble throughout the CPL 2019, so the opportunity for early wickets is there. Can the experienced Chris Jordan be the man who delivers in the powerplay, especially if Sunil Narine remains troubled with his finger injury? Then, can the TKR attack work as a unit to stop the Patriots’ capable middle-lower order better than they did earlier this season?

A very difficult match to predict. The result could depend on Sunil Narine’s availability, given his importance as an all-round weapon. However, St Kitts are playing with far greater consistency, and might just have enough in them to beat a TKR side that has struggled for form recently.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I Preview Dream11

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction. PAK vs SL 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction

If Sri Lanka thought the ODIs would be tough given the experience on the sidelines, the T20Is promise to be another hell of a test.

After all, Pakistan are ranked first in T20I cricket. Until February 2018, they had enjoyed a run of 11 straight series victories in the format. They rightly take plenty of pride in their recent fortunes, and off the back of a string of ODI wins, they will be raring to go once again in front of their home fans.

For Sri Lanka, touring Pakistan has meant more than giving their opponents hope for their cricketing future in their home nation. It has also given a number of their own to express themselves. With the likes of Danushka Gunathilaka, Shehan Jayasuriya and Dasun Shanaka giving fans reason to smile in the ODI series, the door is open once again for those usually on the fringes to make a mark with the World T20 a year away.

Key to a Pakistan win

So much of Pakistan’s excellent run in T20Is has been off the back of Babar Azam. The classy right hander enjoys a near-identical T20I average to that in ODIs (54.21 vs 54.17), which undoubtedly will put much of the attention on him as always. However, runs for Fakhar Zaman in the ODIs is as much a relief for he as it is for Pakistan, and he is a player that can take the game away from the Sri Lankans early. With the likes of Haris Sohail and Asif Ali in the middle, Pakistan will be after the complete performance.

Also, Pakistan’s often miserly bowling attack has been a key factor in its T20I fortunes. They have often mastered the conditions faced in the UAE, which puts onus on both spinners and seamers to do the same in Lahore. Can the left-armers push Sri Lanka back in the powerplay and death overs? How will the likes of Shadab Khan go in the middle overs? Like the bat, Pakistan will want to dominate with the ball, and that begins with stifling Sri Lanka of quick runs in the early overs.

Also read: T20 Discussion: Is this the year Guyana finally win the CPL?

Key to a Sri Lanka win

Danushka Gunathilaka showed why Sri Lanka have persisted with him. His swashbuckling innings in the final ODI is the kind of impact his side needs, given the inexperience in Sri Lanka’s squad. Such is the inexperience that Avishka Fernando must deliver more than he did in his poor ODI series. Can he and the likes of Minod Bhanuka and Sadeera Samarawickrama leave Pakistan having given Sri Lanka’s selectors no choice but to consider them for Australia? Importantly, can Dasun Shanaka continue on from his showing in the ODIs?

Also, Lasith Malinga, chief destroyer in Sri Lanka’s last T20I, is unavailable. So, who steps up in his absence? Nuwan Pradeep and Lahiru Kamara can be effective on their respective days, but will this be one of them? The impact they have, along with the effectiveness of Isuru Udana’s variations, holds a significant key to a Sri Lankan win here. Indeed, if Lakshan Sandakan, Shehan Jayasuriya and co can exercise control in the spin department, it might just give the Sri Lankans a confidence boost.
