Bangladesh vs West Indies 3rd T20I Preview + Dream11

Bangladesh vs West Indies 3rd T20I Preview + Dream11

How unpredictable has this series been? West Indies’ bowlers were good in the first T20I, then awful in the second. Bangladesh’s batsmen were awful in the first, then superb in the second.

What on earth does the decider have in store?

Bangladesh, led by Shakib Al Hasan, leveled the series in Dhaka. The Tigers needed to respond to their second worst ever T20I loss (balls remaining), and that they did, smashing 211. Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib and Mahmudullah were excellent, piling the pressure on the Windies with excellent strokeplay. The bowlers, also led by the superb Shakib, held their nerve, leveraging off the wicket of Shai Hope, which rendered the game as good as over. Will the Tigers clean sweep all series on this Windies tour?

West Indies would have been mighty disappointed with their effort on Thursday. It took them nearly two hours to bowl 20 overs, such was the number of extras, poor deliveries and confusion in regards to their strategy. The Windies, in the first T20I, bowled over 40% of deliveries in the short zone, which was a success. This was then reduced to well below 40% in the second T20I, in which Bangladesh pounced. Can the Windies get things right in the decider?

Key to a Bangladesh win

Shakib Al Hasan was deservedly man of the match on Thursday, but Bangladesh would have been mighty pleased with the efforts of Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah. Das, in particular, showcased the immense talent he has, and has to repeat it here on his way to better consistency at international level. Mahmudullah then supported Shakib well when the boat was rocking at 110/4, and finished the innings beautifully. Can the Tigers get plenty from their top order, including Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, who have been uncharacteristically quiet by their standards?

However, Bangladesh’s efforts with the ball have left a little to be desired at times. Mustafizur Rahman has been taken to the cleaners, particularly by Shai Hope, and needs to step up with early wickets to give Bangladesh a foothold in the game. Spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan will again be key in picking up regular wickets, and this can come from an excellent start in the powerplay. Once again, Shai Hope will be the key wicket.

Key to a West Indies win

The Windies’ bowling at times in the second T20I could have brought a tear to a glass eye. They were all over the place, unable to respond to the pressure put on them by Bangladesh’s batsmen. Keemo Paul was particularly loose, and needs to respond well, so too Sheldon Cottrell, Carlos Brathwaite and Oshane Thomas who were well below their best from the first T20I.

Also, what can Shai Hope deliver? His wicket was just about the end of the Windies’ run chase on Thursday, and while there was more input from other players, his score will be crucial. Other players who must step up are Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer, with the latter not at his best in the LOIs in Bangladesh. Will the Windies put together a cohesive batting display?

Predicted Playing XIs

Bangladesh will likely stick with the same team that won the second T20I. One possible change is Nazmul Islam for Abu Hider

Bangladesh: 1. Tamim Iqbal, 2. Liton Das, 3. Soumya Sarkar, 4. Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5. Shakib Al Hasan (c), 6. Mahmudullah, 7. Ariful Haque, 8. Mohammad Saifuddin, 9. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 10. Abu Hider/Nazmul Islam, 11. Mustafizur Rahman

Sherfane Rutherford gives the Windies a hitting option, but they are likely to stick with the same XI. Unless of course, they make a crazy decision to “rest” Oshane Thomas as they did in the deciding ODI.

West Indies: 1. Evin Lewis, 2. Shai Hope (wk), 3. Nicholas Pooran, 4. Darren Bravo/Sherfane Rutherford, 5. Shimron Hetmyer, 6. Rovman Powell, 7. Carlos Brathwaite (c), 8. Keemo Paul, 9. Fabian Allen, 10. Oshane Thomas, 11. Sheldon Cottrell

Dream11

Some on-and-off players in either side makes Dream11 a challenge! Below is my Dream11 side that I feel has the best chance of succeeding.

Bangladesh vs West Indies 3rd T20I Preview + Dream11 Cricket Blog CricBlog Cricket Preview
Bangladesh vs West Indies 3rd T20I Preview + Dream11: Dream11Team
  • Shai Hope gets in over Mushfiqur Rahim. In better batting form.
  • Liton Das stepped up two times in a row in the West Indies earlier this year to guide Bangladesh to a series win. Back him to do well again.
  • Shimron Hetmyer is due. Soumya Sarkar enjoys the ball coming onto the bat in Dhaka.
  • Shakib Al Hasan is my skipper.
  • Back Mustafizur Rahman to be in the wickets, and so to Sheldon Cottrell in the later overs.

Stats and Facts

  • Bangladesh won the T20I series 2-1 in the West Indies earlier this year.
  • Shai Hope has hit 596 in 11 innings this tour.
  • West Indies have lost four straight series to Bangladesh in all formats.

Prediction

Should be another exciting clash with plenty of runs.

Will Bangladesh get the job done? I think so. They love Dhaka.

Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview + Dream11

Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview + Dream11

It’s what makes T20 cricket interesting.

Brisbane Heat, 7th place finishers in BBL07 and with a first up defeat in BBL08, start as favourites against last year’s finalists. The Heat had their moments against the Strikers in the tournament opener, but as feared, they rely too much on individual brilliance. Perhaps significantly, they will be at home away from their beloved Gabba, with Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium set to host its first ever BBL game, soon after its first ever T20I. Can the Heat get their first win of BBL08?

Hobart Hurricanes begin BBL08 looking to go one better than their BBL07 campaign. D’Arcy Short, who hasn’t quite reached the heights since, was central to their run to the final, and so too Jofra Archer, who will be aiming for another strong campaign. The absence of Tim Paine, as well as the loss of Dan Christian leaves a little hole in the Hurricanes line up. However, they still possess talent in their 13-man squad, and will be looking for a better start than their BBL07 campaign.

Key to a Brisbane Heat win

There is a long way to go yet, but Brisbane Heat showed glimpses of why I have predicted them to finish last this season. Their all-or-nothing approach in the powerplay overs put them under significant pressure for the remainder of their batting innings, with James Peirson and Mujeeb Ur Rahman getting the Heat to a somewhat respectable 146 after being 101/9.

Brendon McCullum will need to find a balance between big shots and getting his team off to a solid start, which is possible given the encouraging signs Max Bryant showed on Wednesday. Chris Lynn is also undoubtedly crucial to the Heat’s chances, but for the home side to get their first win, they will need more from the likes of Joe Burns, Ben Cutting and Sam Heazlett. If the Heat rely on one or two small periods of magic with the bat, it might not be enough.

Also, James Pattinson will miss this game as he is best man at a friend’s wedding. Who will step up in his absence? Spinners Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mitch Swepson bowled well against the Strikers, but apart from Pattinson, no other seamer looked very threatening. Mark Steketee was off colour and has to improve, and a lot is needed from Ben Cutting to make life easier for his captain. Can the Heat pick up early wickets and build the pressure on the Hurricanes?

Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview + Dream11 Cricket Preview Cricket Blog CricBlog

Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview + Dream11: It was a tough night for Mark Steketee…

Key to a Hobart Hurricanes win

As mentioned, D’Arcy Short was central to the Hurricanes’ run to the BBL07 final. He topped the run scoring charts last season, and he will be key again against a Heat attack that looks a little thin on paper. His battle with Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the early overs could very well dictate how this game will go.

Also, can the Hurricanes batting line up click into gear right away? The men in purple possess players in good form in domestic cricket such as Matthew Wade, Alex Doolan and George Bailey, who will be tasked with keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Ben McDermott is also one to keep an eye out for, with his talent on display for Australia in 2018, and he, along with James Faulkner, need to provide much needed power in the middle order. Will the Hurricanes inflict more ‘heat’ on Brisbane Heat?

Also, do the Hurricanes have the bowling depth to trouble the Heat? Jofra Archer was immense in BBL07, and will be key again, so too new recruit Johan Botha. However, who else will step up with the ball? James Faulkner needs to rediscover his form, and Clive Rose will have to be tidy in the powerplay overs, which is where he typically bowls. Can the likes of Simon Milenko and Riley Meredith, if called up, provide impact for the Hurricanes?

Image credit: Getty. Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview + Dream11: Will D’Arcy Short be in the runs?

Predicted Playing XIs

Brisbane Heat, in their 13-man squad, have brought in spinner Matthew Kuhnemann. However, expect Josh Lalor to replace James Pattinson in the XI.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Brendon McCullum, 2. Max Bryant, 3. Chris Lynn (c), 4. Joe Burns, 5. Sam Heazlett, 6. Jimmy Peirson (wk), 7. Ben Cutting, 8. Mitch Swepson, 9. Mark Steketee, 10. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 11. Josh Lalor

Hobart Hurricanes have also put out their 13-man squad. Tymal Mills picked up a hamstring injury in the warm up match. Four players could make their Hurricanes BBL debuts if selected – Jake Doran, Johan Botha, David Moody and James Faulkner.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. D’Arcy Short, 2. Matthew Wade (c & wk), 3. Alex Doolan, 4. George Bailey, 5. Ben McDermott, 6. James Faulkner, 7. Johan Botha, 8. Jofra Archer, 9. Clive Rose, 10. Riley Meredith/Simon Milenko, 11. David Moody

High-scoring match? Below is my Dream11 Team with a few pointers.

Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview + Dream11 Cricket Preview Cricket Blog CricBlog
Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview + Dream11: Dream11Team
  • Matthew Wade has been in excellent form domestically. He is likely to open the batting, too. He is my VC.
  • I predict Chris Lynn will have a good outing against Hobart’s attack. Max Bryant showed good form against the Strikers.
  • George Bailey has been in good touch, and Ben McDermott is a powerful player.
  • Brendon McCullum has two fifties in his last three games vs Hobart Hurricanes. He has hinted at retirement, but this is a game he could very well enjoy.
  • I predict Mujeeb Ur Rahman will get the better of D’Arcy Short at the top.
  • Riley Meredith has been in the wickets in Shield Cricket. Jofra Archer is a key weapon for the Hurricanes, especially at the death. Mitch Swepson bowled well two nights ago.

Stats and Facts

  • Metricon Stadium in the Gold Coast will host its first ever BBL match.
  • Hobart Hurricanes have won seven of the last nine games vs Brisbane Heat.
  • Jofra Archer was third highest wicket taker in BBL07 (16).

Prediction

Rain is unfortunately predicted throughout the match tonight.

Despite my prediction about Brisbane Heat overall this tournament, I think this will be their good night. I predict a Brisbane Heat win, with their top heavy batting line up to be in the runs against a Hobart attack likely to rely a lot on Jofra Archer.

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers Preview + Dream11

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers Preview + Dream11

No time to think about the first up loss. Perth Scorchers, the tournament favourites, are back in action less than 48 hours after their first up loss to the Melbourne Renegades.

They will come up against Sydney Sixers, who possess a squad capable of improvement on their BBL07 campaign. The Sixers’ name was appropriate last season, losing their first six, before winning their last four games. The introduction of Joe Denly to the side helped with the change of fortunes, and is in a side that has a good mix of youth and experience in their quest for an improved season.

Perth Scorchers’ strength is their bowling, but their batting effort against the Renegades was poor. It is certainly not panic stations for the Scorchers, though, with the Perth side losing their first game in five of the previous seven BBL editions, with three titles to their name. They won the corresponding fixture in Sydney last season, and will be looking for a response to avoid going 0-2 in BBL08.

Key to a Sydney Sixers win

As mentioned, the addition of Joe Denly helped the Sixers finish their BBL07 campaign in style. He will be key at the top, along with the likes of Moises Henriques, Dan Hughes and Jordan Silk in helping the Sixers overcome the good Scorchers attack. Another player to keep an eye out for is young gun Jack Edwards, who has been in superb form in domestic cricket. The top and middle order will be tasked with both setting up and launching well, so a good powerplay, where the Scorchers are usually mighty effective, will be key.

Also, the Sixers’ bowling attack is reason for optimism in BBL08. Tom Curran, a fine bowler for England in LOIs, will be key in targeting a Scorchers’ line up that was off the pace in Melbourne. With him include the accurate Steve O’Keefe, the pacy Ben Dwarshuis and the hugely exciting 19-year old leg-spinner Lloyd Pope. Limiting the Scorchers’ batting effort will go a long way to victory for the Sixers, given the Scorchers’ prowess with the ball.

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers Preview + Dream11: Joe Denly was an excellent addition for the Sixers last year

Key to a Perth Scorchers win

The Scorchers had hope of pulling off an incredible victory on Thursday, reducing the Renegades to 17/4. However, a few poor overs with the ball was all it took for the game to slip away, given that the batting failed badly. Yes, it was a sluggish pitch at Marvel Stadium, but the lack of game awareness was disappointing from one of the tournament favourites, and would want more from the likes of Ash Turner, Sam Whiteman, Michael Klinger and David Willey. With skipper Mitch Marsh out, will the batsmen put on a more improved showing?

Also, can the Scorchers dominate the powerplay again with the ball? Jason Behrendhorff is a magnificent exponent of this, and his partnership with Nathan Coulter-Nile on Thursday is something the Scorchers will be hoping for again. However, Andrew Tye, David Willey and Usman Qadir were well below their best. Will the Scorchers put on a more cohesive bowling display along with an improved batting effort?

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers Preview + Dream11: Will David Willey be a factor?

Predicted Playing XIs

Sydney Sixers have named their 13-man squad, which includes a few changes from last season. Expect young-guns Jack Edwards and Lloyd Pope to get a run for the Sixers, along with experienced players such as Moises Henriques, Sean Abbott, Daniel Hughes and Joe Denly

Sydney Sixers: 1. Joe Denly, 2. Daniel Hughes, 3. Jack Edwards, 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Josh Philippe (wk), 7. Sean Abbott, 8. Tom Curran, 9. Steve O’Keefe, 10. Lloyd Pope, 11. Ben Dwarshuis

Mitchell Marsh is out of the Perth Scorchers squad, replaced by Will Bosisto. A player under a little pressure is Usman Qadir, who was disappointing vs Renegades, but could get another chance given Sydney can suit spin.

Perth Scorchers: 1. Michael Klinger, 2. Sam Whiteman (wk), 3. David Willey, 4. Ashton Turner (c), 5. Will Bosisto, 6. Hilton Cartwright, 7. Ashton Agar, 8. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9. Jhye Richardson/Usman Qadir, 10. Andrew Tye, 11. Jason Behrendhorff

  • Joe Denly was a superb addition for the Sixers last year.
  • Backing David Willey to have an improved game.

  • Perth Scorchers won both meetings vs Sydney Sixers in BBL07.
  • Perth Scorchers have lost their first game six times in eight BBL campaigns.
  • The last time Sydney Sixers beat Perth Scorchers in December, 2016 (three meetings ago).

It will be a big challenge for the Scorchers as they come up against a talented Sixers side.

However, I back them to improve on their first up performance and win this one.

Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Stars Preview + Dream11

Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Stars Preview + Dream11

Two sides who are looking to improve on last season’s efforts go head-to-head in Canberra. While conditions will be nothing like yesterday’s Sydney Storm, some rain is expected in the nation’s capital. Hopefully, viewers should still be treated to an exciting clash between two sides with good players on paper.

Sydney Thunder have largely disappointed in BBL, despite winning the tournament in BBL05. Their title success in 2015/16 was the only time they qualified for the tour four, constantly hampered by reliance on one or two players such as Chris Gayle, Usman Khawaja, Eoin Morgan or Shane Watson. With Shane Bond the coach, and a talented Thunder squad this season, can the Thunder kick off a promising season in positive fashion?

Melbourne Stars have qualified for the finals six times, but unlike the Thunder, have never won the tournament. Last season was by far the Stars’ worst, finishing last. However, they possess a squad that can see them be the most improved on last season, containing the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Glenn Maxwell and Nepalese sensation Sandeep Lamichhane. Will it be the Stars that will win the battle of the green tonight?

Key to a Sydney Thunder win

Sydney Thunder possess two players central to England’s ODI resurgence since 2015. Jos Buttler has announced himself as arguably the best keeper-batsman in limited overs cricket, and Joe Root has had a magnificent last few years in ODI Cricket. These two will be key in helping set up a strong platform for Thunder, in conjunction with the likes of Shane Watson and Callum Ferguson. Will the Thunder put together a cohesive batting display – something that has been a rarity in recent years?

Also, the Manuka Oval track in Canberra is one of the slower ones in Australia, and the Thunder possess a battery of spinners who can take advantage. Fawad Ahmed has been a key performer, and will be key again, so too Chris Green and Arjun Nair who will be tasked with providing economical overs. While the seam attack looks a touch light this season, Gurinder Sandhu and Daniel Sams have showed promise in this competition before, and they will be key in picking up wickets in all three stages of the innings.

Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Stars Preview + Dream11: Shane Watson will be a key player for the Thunder

Key to a Melbourne Stars win

Melbourne Stars’ aging squad caught up with them a little last season. However, the additions of Sandeep Lamichhane and Dwayne Bravo can rejuvenate them, and will be looking for an immediate impact from these two.

On the batting front, Ben Dunk, leading run scorer twice in BBL, was poor last season, and will be key to a good night for the Stars in Canberra. With an in-form Nick Larkin likely to get a Stars debut, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, the Stars have enough on paper to pick up a strong total.

However, what can the Stars deliver with the ball? Sydney Thunder possess arguably a top order heavy batting line up, so early and regular wickets for the Stars will be crucial. Adam Zampa showed very encouraging signs for Australia against India recently, Sandeep Lamichhane is a spin sensation, and both will need to be supported well by the likes of Scott Boland, who has dominated Shield Cricket so far this season. Also, can the allrounders – Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Dwayne Bravo – chip in with effective overs?

Melbourne Stars have also named their 13-man squad. Five players could make their club debuts – Nick Larkin, Dwayne Bravo, Travis Dean, Sandeep Lamichhane and Lance Morris.

Melbourne Stars: 1. Nick Larkin, 2. Ben Dunk (wk), 3. Glenn Maxwell (c), 4. Evan Gulbis, 5. Dwayne Bravo, 6. Marcus Stoinis, 7. Adam Zampa, 8. Sandeep Lamichhane, 9. Michael Beer, 10. Scott Boland, 11. Jackson Coleman

Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers Preview + Dream11

Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers Preview + Dream11

It is the perennial underachievers against perennial finalists.

Melbourne Renegades begin their campaign with arguably the toughest test, coming up against one of the BBL08 favourites, Perth Scorchers. The Renegades, who finished in the top four for the first time in five years last season, will be looking to immediately lay down a marker against a well balanced side. The absence of Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris to Australian Test duty is a blow, but there is enough experience in their line up to give the Scorchers a challenge. Can the Renegades step up?

Perth Scorchers have finished in the top four in all seven editions of BBL. They are the most consistent side, with the most titles (three), and possess such a squad that two or three different final XIs would still be very good ones. Mitchell Marsh leads the side in the quest for a fourth title, and will be looking to get their tournament off and running away from home. Will the Scorchers prove too good?

Key to a Melbourne Renegades win

As mentioned, the absence of Finch and Harris is a blow, but the Renegades still possess good experience in their batting line up. The likes of Tim Ludeman, Cameron White, Tom Cooper and Dan Christian have a crucial role to play in overcoming a quality Scorchers attack, paving the way for a strong total. The Scorchers possess bowlers that can deliver in all three stages of the innings, so partnerships, especially at the top, is crucial to the Renegades’ cause.

Also, can the Renegades get into the Scorchers’ middle order quickly? The Scorchers possess plenty of allrounders, which can be considered as an opportunity for the Renegades to target. Usman Khan Shenwari, Kane Richardson, Cameron Boyce and Mohammad Nabi represents a decent core bowling unit, and need to keep chipping away at a long Scorchers batting lineup.

Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers Preview + Dream11: Tom Cooper will lead the Renegades, and is a key batsman.

Key to a Perth Scorchers win

What can decide the game is Renegades v Scorchers in the powerplay overs. The Renegades’ batting stocks have taken a hit, which opens the door for a fine Scorchers attack to take advantage, especially in the early overs. Jason Behrendhorff, who missed the whole of last season with injury, will be of welcome return, and will be crucial at the top. With the likes of David Willey, Andrew Tye, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jhye Richardson (as well as Marsh and Turner), the Scorchers have a plethora of options to turn to in each stage of the innings to keep the pressure on the Renegades.

However, the batting is a potential opportunity for the Renegades to exploit. How well will Michael Klinger go? Will David Willey be sent up the order? What can Josh Inglis and Sam Whiteman, if selected, deliver? Given the strong Scorchers attack, if they get enough runs on the board, a Scorchers victory will be very likely.

Perth Scorchers have also named their 13-man squad. Their squad looks so strong on paper that any of those 13 can make the final side.

  • Marvel Stadium in Melbourne has historically been a good ground for spinners. Cameron Boyce, Ashton Agar and Mohammad Nabi make my side.
  • Jason Behrendhorff will be key in the powerplay overs. I predict he will get the better of the Renegades top order. AJ Tye will be key at the death.
  • Tom Cooper and Tim Ludeman are key players at the top for the Renegades. Cameron White is as well, but will he handle swing well?
  • David Willey could open both the batting and bowling, and is an excellent T20 player. He is my captain.

Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd T20I Preview + Dream11

Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd T20I Preview + Dream11

What was that in Sylhet? It was over before you could blink an eye.

Bangladesh, who entered the first T20I as favourites, showcased the big gap between their best and worst cricket. The home side’s fans had a right to be confident after a big win in the deciding ODI, as well as the series win away in the Caribbean earlier this year, but the Tigers gave themselves a mountain to climb with the all-to-familiar loss of wickets in the powerplay. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan was the only man to step up on Monday, and needs his teammates to follow suit if they are to keep the series alive.

A total of 129 was never going to be enough with Shai Hope in amazing form for West Indies. He smashed the third fastest T20I fifty in history, to consign Bangladesh to their second worst ever defeat in terms of balls remaining. However, the victory was set up by the bowlers, led by Sheldon Cottrell, of whom the Bangladesh batsmen no answer to. Can the Windies seal the series to add some polish to what has been a difficult tour?

Read: Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings! (Funny)

Key to a Bangladesh win

A big reason why Bangladesh have struggled in T20Is is their tendency to lose powerplay wickets. Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim were all dismissed before the end of the sixth over, which left the likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah with too much rebuilding to do.

Unsurprisingly, Bangladesh’s run rate was at a high 9.60 in the first five overs. In the end, they finished with a run rate of less than 6.50. To keep the series alive, Bangladesh need to rotate the strike and understand the game situation better to make full use of their boundaries. It was an area they had to get right in the first T20I, and they failed badly.

Also, Bangladesh need to find a way to deal with Shai Hope. You know its a bad day when Mahmudullah is your most economical bowler, with all the remaining bowlers, bar Shakib Al Hasan, going for at least 13 per over. Bangladesh have to find a way to keep Shai Hope quiet in this clash, and if they can, it will boost their chances given the Windies’ reliance on him in recent matches.

Key to a West Indies win

That man Shai Hope will be key again, but who else can deliver? Nicholas Pooran and Keemo Paul, surprisingly sent up the order, also showed their striking capabilities in the first T20I. With the likes of Evin Lewis, Carlos Brathwaite and Shimron Hetmyer (acquired by RCB for 4.2 crore), the Windies possess a lineup that can provide Hope the support he’s been craving. Will they push Bangladesh on the back foot early, and then dictate terms once again?

As mentioned, though, the first up victory was set up by the bowlers. Sheldon Cottrell and Keemo Paul in particular took advantage of Bangladesh’s all-or-nothing approach, and these two, along with Oshane Thomas, will be key in prizing out early wickets once again. Carlos Brathwaite and Fabian Allen were able to continue building the pressure thanks to a fine start, and the Windies will be after the same again in Dhaka.

Predicted Playing XIs

It remains to be seen whether Bangladesh stick with the same side that was thrashed in the first T20I. The Tigers could introduce Nazmul Islam to take pace off the ball.

Bangladesh: 1. Tamim Iqbal, 2. Liton Das, 3. Soumya Sarkar, 4. Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5. Shakib Al Hasan (c), 6. Mahmudullah, 7. Ariful Haque, 8. Mohammad Saifuddin/Nazmul Islam, 9. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 10. Abu Hider/Rubel Hossain, 11. Mustafizur Rahman

There is no reason for West Indies to change their winning formula.

West Indies: 1. Evin Lewis, 2. Shai Hope (wk), 3. Darren Bravo, 4. Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Nicholas Pooran, 6. Rovman Powell, 7. Carlos Brathwaite (c), 8. Keemo Paul, 9. Fabian Allen, 10. Sheldon Cottrell, 11. Oshane Thomas

Dream11

Will the Windies bowlers dominate again? Below is my Dream11 Team with a few pointers.

Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd T20I Preview + Dream11: Dream11Team
  • Bangladesh put on a better fight in the Windies earlier this year after losing the first T20I. Expect Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim to step up in the team’s hour of need.
  • Shai Hope is a must, either at C or VC level. Shakib’s all-round capabilities has him as my captain.
  • Keemo Paul has been in the runs and wickets in recent times. Oshane Thomas has presented a danger for Bangladesh.
  • Will Sheldon Cottrell repeat his heroics from the other day? Big ask, but he will have a say again.
  • Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz had tough outings in the first T20I. Both are capable of bouncing back.

Stats and Facts

  • West Indies’ win with 55 balls to spare in the first T20I was their biggest ever in terms of balls remaining.
  • Bangladesh beat the Windies in the Caribbean in August after being 1-0 down.
  • West Indies have won three of 13 T20Is in 2018. Bangladesh have won four of 14.

Prediction

West Indies would be feeling confident after annihilating Bangladesh in Sylhet. However, Bangladesh still possess a good side at home, and I have a feeling they will bounce back to level the series.

Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers Preview + Dream11

BBL08 Match 1: Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers Preview + Dream11

The eighth edition of the Big Bash League begins in Brisbane, AKA Kevin Pietersen’s favourite city. It is a full home and away season for the first time ever, which might be considered too long. However, there is little doubt that the competition will deliver plenty of excitement, as always.

The opening game sees Brisbane Heat come up against last season’s champions. The Heat possess plenty of firepower in their batting line up, and will be keen to improve on their seventh place finish in BBL07. Chris Lynn will skipper the side, and it will be interesting to see what impact leadership has on his batting, which will be key to the Heat’s fortunes this season.

Adelaide Strikers deservedly enter BBL08 as one of the favourites for the title. Skipper Travis Head will be missing for nearly the entirety of the campaign, but despite that, the Strikers still possess a fine squad that can give the competition a shake once again. Alex Carey has had a big year, following on from his magnificent BBL07 campaign, and the Strikers’ bowling attack will be keen to repeat their efforts from last season. Will they kick off the new season with a win away from home?

Key to a Brisbane Heat win

Can Brisbane Heat be considered the Royal Challengers Bangalore of BBL?

The Heat once again enter a season with a batting heavy lineup. Chris Lynn and Brendon McCullum have the potential to tear attacks apart, especially at the Gabba, and these two are key to the Heat’s chances in the opening clash. However, Lynn and McCullum will need strong batting support. Joe Burns had a strong BBL07, striking at over 140, and the likes of Alex Ross and Ben Cutting will be key in delivering a strong total for the Heat.

But, their bowling lineup once again looks a little light, and will be banking on James Pattinson and Mujeeb Ur Rahman to deliver wickets and control. Ben Cutting, Josh Lalor, Ben Doggett and Mark Steketee went for a combined 9.47 an over in BBL07; an area Brisbane must improve. Can the Heat dismiss the dangerous Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald cheaply, off the back of building pressure through dots?

Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers Preview + Dream11: Chris Lynn is key to the Heat’s chances

Key to an Adelaide Strikers win

Like Chris Lynn and Brendon McCullum will be key for the Heat, the same applies to Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald for the Strikers. These two were central to Adelaide’s BBL07 success, and will be key again in ensuring the Strikers get BBL08 off to the perfect start. However, despite Travis Head missing, the Strikers still possess quality in the likes of Colin Ingram and Jake Lehmann, who can take apart a Heat attack that has struggled for control over the years. Can the Strikers’ batsmen deliver as a unit?

But, what could be central to the result is how the Strikers’ bowlers fare. The Gabba is known for its high scoring matches in BBL Cricket, and this is where Brisbane’s best chance lies in this one. Can Adelaide pick up regular wickets to halt the Heat’s progress? You can be certain Rashid Khan will be introduced to nullify the Lynn threat. Billy Stanlake, Peter Siddle, Michael Neser and Ben Laughlin represents a well-rounded bowling squad. If the Strikers bowlers have a good night out, there could very well be only one result.

Predicted Playing XIs

Brisbane Heat will be looking for some balance in their side to complement their big hitters.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Joe Burns, 2. Brendon McCullum, 3. Chris Lynn (c), 4. Max Bryant 5. Sam Heazlett, 6. James Peirson (wk), 7 Ben Cutting, 8. Mitch Swepson, 9. Mark Steketee, 10. James Pattinson, 11. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Adelaide Strikers will be without Travis Head who is on Test duty.

Adelaide Strikers: 1. Alex Carey (wk), 2. Jake Weatherald, 3. Matthew Short, 4. Colin Ingram (c), 5. Jonathan Wells, 6. Jake Lehmann, 7. Rashid Khan, 8. Michael Neser, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Billy Stanlake, 11. Ben Laughlin

  • Alex Carey is my pick for BBL08 leading runscorer. A cool, calm character, Carey can be captained with confidence.
  • Jake Weatherald is gun for Adelaide, and is a good pick. Jake Lehmann offers good value, so too Colin Ingram.
  • Chris Lynn is worth the price tag in BBL Cricket.
  • James Pattinson and Mujeeb Ur Rahman will be key for Brisbane Heat.
  • Rashid Khan can be counted on down the order, and of course with the ball. Ben Laughlin is an option for plenty of death wickets.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Brisbane Heat 3, Adelaide Strikers 4.
  • Chris Lynn has hit the most sixes in BBL (102).
  • Ben Laughlin has the most wickets in BBL (85).

Prediction

A high-scoring match could be on the cards to kick off BBL08.

I think Adelaide Strikers have the better balanced side, thanks to a more well-rounded attack, and will win this game.

“If he messes it up, it’s 2-0.”

– Virat Kohli, Perth 2018.

“If we mess up? It was 1-1 the moment you put your team list out.”

– CricBlog’s imaginary response to Virat Kohli as I become a couch potato.

Jokes aside, it was another excellent Test match in what is fast becoming a fine series. It was a tough pitch, but both sides were willing to dig in and have a red-hot go. Australia had to bounce back after Adelaide, and that they did, registering a strong 146-run win to deliver Tim Paine’s first Test win as captain. One area Australia had a clear advantage was the lower order batting, and it was a key factor in the match. Boxing Day can’t come quick enough, with a full house expected with the series all square.

Before then, though, it’s Player Ratings time. As always, it is a light hearted review of the Test gone by, and given the rollercoaster of emotions, a laugh or two is always welcome. I’ll try my best.

Each player will be rated out of 10. Enjoy!

Australia

Marcus Harris: India played from in front from day two in Adelaide. Australia then did from day one in Perth, thanks largely to Harris, playing in just his second Test. Delivered a great little one-liner to one-liner merchant Rishabh Pant on the fourth evening. Fast becoming a fan favourite. 8

Aaron Finch: Bodybuilders are getting jealous at the workout Finch’s front pad is getting. Two fighting knocks – a 50 on the first day and a crucial second innings opening stand with Harris when the Indian bowlers were on fire. Cleared of serious damage to his finger. 7

Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings Cricket Blog CricBlog Cricket Opinion
Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings: One man comes to mind…

Usman Khawaja: Is there any bigger wake up call than getting out to Umesh Yadav? Khawaja responded well in the second innings with a crucial 72 in tough conditions. Confidence booster. He is off and running in the series. 7

Shaun Marsh: Death. Taxes. Shaun Marsh doing just enough to keep his place in the side. Out to two horizontal bat shots. Solid first innings effort. 5

Peter Handscomb: Plenty of technical work done in the winter. I’m waiting to see it. Took the controversial catch that saw the back of Virat Kohli in the first innings, and a great catch to dismiss Pant on day five. 3

Travis Head: “Murali Vijay thought he could be the only one to pull off an action replay in this series”, said Head. “I did pretty well to match him.” Two nearly identical dismissals to third man. Good fighting 50 in the first innings. 7

Tim Paine: Solid performance with bat from the Australian skipper. Crucial partnership with Usman Khawaja on the fourth morning. He stood up to Virat Kohli, and you could see the intensity of the Aussies lift. A good performance behind the stumps, too. 7

Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings: Tim Paine and Virat Kohli got close and personal right throughout the Test.

Patrick Cummins: All effort. The big wickets are around the corner for Cummins, who continues to do a fine job for the team. Dismissed Kohli again, albeit controversially. Copped a second innings grubber that had India really nervous. 6

Mitchell Starc: Can Shane Warne sledge Starc every game? The results of the sledges have been superb, with Starc putting a much improved performance in Perth. He will travel to Melbourne a little nervous, as the tweet below suggests… 8

Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings Cricket Blog CricBlog Cricket Opinion
Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings: Mitch Starc isn’t too happy…

Nathan Lyon: A spinner picked up man of the match in a Perth Test. A Test where India didn’t pick a specialist one. ‘Gaz’ was absolutely brilliant, picking up eight wickets, once again proving he is the world’s premier off spinner. Don’t @ me. His batting was also crucial in flattening India’s morale. 9

Josh Hazlewood: Bowled some absolute gems in this Test. The deliveries to KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari (first innings) were particularly special. Like Starc, Hazlewood is hoping no changes are made to the India opening combination… 8

India

Ravi Shastri: Did Australia a big favour with his team selections. A 10 from me. 10

KL Rahul: Australia holds its breath. Will KL Rahul get another chance? Jokes aside, surely not. He needs to get domestic runs under his belt, as @imsgshinde put it here. In the meantime, I will leave you with a tweet for the ages from @Oye_Jahazi below. 0

Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings Cricket Blog CricBlog Cricket Opinion
Australia vs India 2nd Test Player Ratings: A tweet for the ages

Murali Vijay: “I know he’s your captain, but surely you can’t like him as a bloke”, said Paine to Vijay. Tried a booming Kohli-like cover drive to prove his love for his captain, only to get bowled. Four innings this series. Four dismissals playing a drive. 1

Cheteshwar Pujara: Leg side strangle and second innings snorter. The cricket gods weren’t smiling on Pujara in this Test, but remains a huge wicket for Australia. Batting 100+ balls on that Perth pitch is still a good effort. 4

Virat Kohli: I consider Kohli a knowledgeable man. He knows of all the recent buzzwords such as “Elite Honesty” and “smile together”, and wanted to push a few buttons and test Australia’s resolve. It didn’t end up working. He was made to eat his words. India were behind, much as a result of their team selection. Credit also to Australia. And, credit to Kohli for entertaining us with a truly brilliant first innings century. It was an unpopular opinion in some areas, but I said a year ago he’s the world’s premier batsman. His runs in tough conditions throughout 2018 has shown why. 8.5

READ: Six big predictions for Big Bash League 08 + Fantasy Tips!

Ajinkya Rahane: IPL auditions from Rahane at times throughout the Test. Felt an attacking approach was needed on this pitch. Shame for India that he couldn’t carry on from his starts. 6

Hanuma Vihari: Lots for India to be encouraged about. Why don’t India prioritise this guy in Tests over Rohit Sharma? One of the many questions I would have for Ravi Shastri if there ever is a #AskRavi session on Twitter or something. 6

Rishabh Pant: You know you have a long tail when you need to get in IPL mode when just six down. Highlight a huge 123m six. 5

Umesh Yadav: This is Umesh Yadav’s third tour of Australia. In this time, the only thing that has improved is deciding to ditch his man bun after he wore one. Picking him over Bhvuneshwar was joy to my eyes, as it was detrimental to India’s chances. It proved to be the case. 2

Mohammed Shami: Shami was the Pat Cummins of India. Bowling well without getting the big wickets throughout 2018. A first innings 0/80 would have been a disappointment to Shami, but that changed in the second innings, where he was bowling absolute fire. A strong six wicket haul. 7.5

Ishant Sharma: Like Shami and Bumrah, Ishant bowled some incredible deliveries. His improvement over the last couple of years is evident by how well he is getting the ball moving, both in the air and off the pitch. 8

Jasprit Bumrah: One of life’s great mysteries right now is how Jasprit Bumrah took just one wicket in the first innings. He took four for the game, which could have been a hell of a lot more. Former Australian batsman Ed Cowan said on Australian radio that Jasprit Bumrah, in 5-6 years time, could be considered the best fast bowler India have ever produced. It’s early days, but this guy has what it takes. 8

This Test had it all. Challenging pitch. Unbelievable bowling. Great batting efforts.

The controversial Virat Kohli dismissal in the first innings was absolutely crucial in the context of the game at that point. However, what ultimately hurt India the most was their team selection. They need to get that right in Melbourne.

Nonetheless, credit to Australia. They have leveled the series, setting the scene beautifully for a cracking Boxing Day Test.

Bangladesh vs West Indies 1st T20I Preview + Dream11

Bangladesh vs West Indies 1st T20I Preview + Dream11

One wonders what a T20I series offers two sides looking forward to the 50-over 2019 World Cup. Most pressing is the need for both sides to improve their T20I records in 2018, as well as have more players step up more consistently.

Bangladesh deservedly won the ODI series 2-1, which was their sixth win in the last seven matches against the Windies in all formats. Series like these offer an opportunity for the likes of Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun and Mohammad Saifuddin to dictate matches, which is crucial for Bangladesh’s future. A good opportunity for further success awaits against a struggling Windies unit. Can Bangladesh continue their recent dominance?

West Indies were a one-man band in the ODI series. Shai Hope was the only player to put forward performances of substance, followed by Oshane Thomas, who was inexplicably rested for the deciding ODI. Such a decision perhaps highlights the Windies’ muddled thinking, in which only victories can be the solution. Will they find success on what has been a tough tour?

Bangladesh vs West Indies 1st T20I Preview + Dream11 Cricket Blog CricBlog Cricket Preview
Bangladesh vs West Indies 1st T20I Preview + Dream11: Shai Hope received very little support in the ODIs

Key to a Bangladesh win

Bangladesh stifled the Windies in each of their wins in the ODI series, restricting the tourists to below 200 both times. Early and regular wickets were the key, and will be key again in the T20I series against a side struggling for fluency. One key wicket is of the magnificent Shai Hope, but to get it, Bangladesh might need to get on top of the remaining members of the top seven as they did in the third ODI. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was superb, and was backed up well by the seamers. Can Bangladesh put on another clinical display in the field?

However, one area that Bangladesh have struggled with in T20Is is their batting approach. The Tigers have won just four of 13 matches in 2018, and much is owed to an all-or-nothing approach. The key will be how well Bangladesh rotate the strike, maximising the impact of any boundaries they hit. Liton Das continues to promise but under-deliver, Soumya Sarkar is in good touch up the order, and Bangladesh have their experienced players on deck. Can the batsmen light up Sylhet?

Photo by MUNIR UZ ZAMAN / AFP: Bangladesh vs West Indies 1st T20I Preview + Dream11: Shakib Al Hasan will be keen for a big game

Key to a West Indies win

If Shai Hope fails, who else will deliver? Shimron Hetmyer was one of the disappointments of the ODI series, but to be fair to him, everyone else bar Hope was poor. Evin Lewis, Denesh Ramdin, Nicholas Pooran and Carlos Braithwaite all return to the Windies setup, and all have a key role in overcoming a Bangladesh attack that has had success against every batsman except one in the limited overs leg of this tour. Will the Windies batsmen fire in their most preferred format?

Also, how well will the bowlers go? Oshane Thomas is due to return after being rested in a decider (go figure), and will partner Keemo Paul who was in the wickets in the ODIs. Bangladesh have struggled against Thomas’ pace, which needs to create an emphasis of powerplay wickets for the Windies’ spinners to then build on. The home side has a tendency to lose powerplay wickets in this format – can the Windies leverage off this effectively?

Possible Playing XIs

Mehidy Hasan Miraz will likely bat at eight in a Bangladesh side that will benefit from Shakib Al Hasan’s all-round capabilities.

Bangladesh: 1. Tamim Iqbal, 2. Liton Das, 3. Soumya Sarkar, 4. Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5. Shakib Al Hasan (c), 6. Mohammad Mithun, 7. Mahmudullah, 8. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9. Mohammad Saifuddin, 10. Rubel Hossain/Nazmul Islam, 11. Mustafizur Rahman

West Indies have a few different faces for the T20I series. Will it see a turnaround in fortunes?

West Indies: 1. Shai Hope, 2. Evin Lewis, 3. Darren Bravo, 4. Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Denesh Ramdin/Nicholas Pooran (wk), 6. Rovman Powell, 7. Carlos Brathwaite (c), 8. Fabian Allen, 9. Keemo Paul, 10. Khary Pierre, 11. Oshane Thomas

  • Will Soumya Sarkar hold his own against Oshane Thomas? I think so.
  • Shakib Al Hasan (c) and Carlos Brathwaite are my all-rounder options.
  • Mehidy Hasan Miraz was superb in the ODIs. Mustafizur Rahman, Keemo Paul and Oshane Thomas are all wicket taking options.

Six big predictions for Big Bash League 08 + key fantasy picks

6 big predictions for Big Bash League 08 + key fantasy picks

The Big Bash League will have a full home-and-away season for the first time in its history.

Too much? Maybe. It remains to be seen whether fan engagement will still be at a high in February, when school is back in full swing.

Nevertheless, it promises to be an exciting tournament. There are few things more challenging than making predictions for a T20 tournament, as it is a format with great uncertainties. However, it was always worth a go, and it will be interesting to come back to this once the tournament is over!

Below are my six big predictions for Big Bash League 08 and key fantasy picks for each side, too. Feel free to leave a comment!

BBL 08 Prediction #1: Leading wicket taker – Rashid Khan (Adelaide Strikers)

Rashid Khan, the world’s best T20 bowler, lived up to the hype in BBL 07. He topped the wicket taking chart, along with Dwayne Bravo, and was key to Adelaide’s triumphant campaign.

Rashid continues to work wonders around the globe, taking 77 wickets in T20s after BBL 07. His accuracy and incredible know-how renders him a dangerous prospect for batsmen in this tournament.

Other strong candidates for leading wicket taker include Andrew Tye (Perth Scorchers), Ben Laughlin (Adelaide Strikers) and Jofra Archer (Hobart Hurricanes).

BBL 08 Prediction #2: Leading run scorer – Alex Carey (Adelaide Strikers)

Alex Carey has had a big 2018. He was instrumental in helping Adelaide Strikers lift the BBL 07 trophy, and is now Vice-Captain of the Australia T20I side.

Indeed, one of Carey’s main attributes is his composure and consistency. He can change gears really well, which is an important attribute to have in this format. The BBL is blessed with plenty of big hitters, but Carey is a player with great touch.

Other strong candidates for leading run scorer include Chris Lynn (Brisbane Heat), Ben McDermott and D’Arcy Short (Hobart Hurricanes), and Glenn Maxwell (Melbourne Stars).

BBL 08 Prediction #3: Team to watch out for – Melbourne Stars

Melbourne Stars had easily their worst ever season in BBL 07, finishing last.

However, they have too many good players to write off again. Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis are two dangerous white-ball all-rounders, and Ben Dunk is capable of firing after a poor season. Dwayne Bravo is an excellent addition to their side, which gives the Stars three dangerous all-round options. Sandeep Lamichhane, the Nepalese legspin sensation, will have an impact in the few weeks he’s here, and will be replaced by the capable Liam Plunkett when he leaves for the Bangladesh Premier League. Their seam attack could be of concern, but the likes of Scott Boland and Daniel Worran have been bowling very well in Shield Cricket.

Of course, the challenge will be to transfer that form into the shortest format of the game.

Also, the international calendar is kind to the Stars. Australia play three ODIs against India in January, which is likely to be the only time where Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa are missing. Personally, there is little doubt that the Stars will improve significantly on last year’s finish.

BBL 08 Prediction #4: Bottom placed team – Brisbane Heat

Brisbane Heat possess fine bating capabilities in Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum, Joe Burns and Ben Cutting.

However, their bowling attack is of great concern. Despite possessing good players on paper such as James Pattinson (whose fitness will be key) and Afghanistan spin sensation Mujeeb ur Rahman, Brisbane’s lack of depth in the bowling department means their batting will have to fire every game.

Most telling is Brisbane’s inability to stem the flow of runs. Mark Steketee, Brendan Doggett, Josh Lalor and Ben Cutting combined for an economy rate of 9.15 last season.

Once again, Brisbane Heat look too batting heavy in this tournament, and will struggle as a result.

BBL 08 Prediction #5: Top four

The BBL’s top four, after a mammoth 56 games, can well and truly be considered the best four sides in the tournament.

BBL 08 top four (in no particular order):

  1. Perth Scorchers
  2. Adelaide Strikers
  3. Sydney Sixers
  4. Melbourne Stars

Perth Scorchers have made the finals every single season, and will be thereabouts again. Adelaide Strikers are the defending champions, and possess a quality side, even with Travis Head to be missing for most of the campaign.

However, two additions, possible a surprise to some, are Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars.

Sydney Sixers have lost Nic Maddinson, but have fantastic youth in their squad, including the brilliant Jack Edwards and Lloyd Pope. The Sixers’ mix of youth and experience, which also includes Joe Denly and Moises Henriques, will be key, along with their good spin attack which will be a danger especially in Sydney.

Also, the Stars, as mentioned, will be much improved.

In regards to the other teams, all have their strengths, but their weaknesses could hurt them. Sydney Thunder have Jos Buttler and Joe Root for the first part of the season, and, along with Shane Watson, the Thunder could be in the runs. However, their pace bowling stocks look a little thin. The same applies for Brisbane Heat. Hobart Hurricanes, last year’s finalists, look to be relying on moments of brilliance from players who need to find form again (i.e. D’Arcy Short). Melbourne Renegades will be without Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris for most of the season due to Test duty, and have lost Dwayne Bravo. The Renegades possess a decent attack, but do they have enough firepower with bat and ball to win games? Not so sure.

READ: 15 funny cricket tweets!

BBL 08 Prediction #6: Winner – Perth Scorchers

They say bowling attacks win you T20s, and Perth have a fine one.

Jason Behrendorff and Nathan Coulter-Nile return after missing last season with injuries. They will partner the likes of Andrew Tye, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Agar, David Willey and the impressive Usman Qadir.

The batting is one area that could be light, but the likes of Michael Klinger, Mitchell Marsh, Hilton Cartwright and the returning Cameron Bancroft are capable of delivering runs. Along with a good lower order, Perth will be very hard to beat in this tournament.

They will win BBL 08.

BBL 08 Dream11 + SuperCoach Fantasy Picks

Below are my key picks from each team, especially in the early part of the tournament as you put your teams together!

Adelaide Strikers: Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Colin Ingram, Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin

Brisbane Heat: Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum, Ben Cutting, Mujeeb Ur Rahman
