Rohit Sharma passes fitness test, set to travel to Australia | Indian batsman Rohit Sharma passes fitness test

The much-awaited fitness test results of Rohit Sharma have been cleared by National Cricket Academy and is likely to return to Australia on December 14 to join the team for the upcoming Test series.

Sharma was injured during IPL 2020 that took place in UAE. Following that there has been a lot of confusion about his participation in the India-Australia Test series down-under.

The PTI reports suggest that Rohit has cleared the Test and it took place under the supervision of NCA director Rahul Dravid, who is entrusted with the responsibility of giving him his fitness certificate. “As per the Australian government’s rules, the star batsman will have to undergo a mandatory 14 days of hard quarantine before being able to train for the last two Tests in Sydney (Jan 7 to 11) and Brisbane (Jan 15 to 19). He is flying straight to Sydney and will get a week’s training there”, said the reports.

Sharma will be joining the team for the last two Test matches. His return would be a crucial turn in the visitor’s perfomance as Virat Kohli is also leaving the team after the first game due to personal reasons. The tension among between captain and vice captain has been evident in the last few months as Sharma flew back to Mumbai rather than traveling with the team to Australia after the IPL finale.

Moreover, Kohli went on record to say that there has been a lack of communication on his part and the whole management has been playing the waiting game.

“Before we had the selection meeting in Dubai, we had got an email two days before that, which said that he is unavailable for selection [as] he has picked an injury during the IPL,” Kohli said at the virtual media briefing on Thursday in Sydney. “And it mentioned there were a two-week rest and rehab period. The pros and cons and the implications of the injury have been explained to him and he understood that. And he was unavailable for selection. That was the information we got in the mail before the selection meeting. After that he played in the IPL, so we all thought he would be on that flight to Australia, which he wasn’t. And we had no information whatsoever on the reason on why he is not traveling with us.”
