While batting first, South Africa managed to post a below-par total of 164/8. Barring Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs, no other batter could apply himself at the crease, as the innings never got the required momentum. For Australia, most of the things went right again. South Africa:

• Reeza Hendricks has scores of 56 & 3 in this series. Hendricks has 231 runs at an average of 46.20 and a strike rate of 169.85 in five T20I innings this year. He will look to end the series on a high note.
• Rassie van der Dussen has failed to play a long innings this series, something he is known for. However, Dussen is a quality player and can dismantle any bowling lineup on his day. He would need to be cautious against Jason Behrendorff early on.
• Aiden Markram played a fine knock of 49 runs with the help of three boundaries and two maximums in the previous game. He was also economical in his 2-over spell, conceding only 13 runs. Markram is a utility player and a must-pick in the fantasy team.
• Lungi Ngidi has been very expensive in the first two games. However, Ngidi had done fairly well at this venue before this series and can churn out a match-winning performance again. In ten innings, Ngidi has 15 wickets at a strike rate of 14.33 in T20s in Durban.
• Tabraiz Shamsi has also performed poorly in this series thus far. He has 14 wickets at a strike rate of 21 in the T20s at this venue. A fine bowling performance might well be around the corner.

Australia:

• Matt Short has been among the best batters of the series. He has 86 runs at a strike rate of 209.76, including nine boundaries and six maximums this series. Short can also roll his arm to bowl useful off-breaks.
• Travis Head hasn’t fired with the willow this series, but he is a quality batter opening for Australia. The track in Durban has been ideal for the batters, and Head is known to thrive on good batting decks.
• Mitch Marsh has been the best batter thus far. In the two games, he has scores of 92* and 79*. Marsh has hit 21 fours and eight sixes with the bat. Another good outing is well on the cards.
• Marcus Stoinis can contribute with both bat and ball. He picked up three wickets in the first T20I but didn’t get to bat or bowl in the second one. However, Stoinis is a powerful player in the lower middle order and has grown significantly as a bowler in recent times.
• Nathan Ellis showed his class in the previous game, where he snared as many as three wickets. Ellis now has an impressive 18 wickets in seven T20Is, with excellent changeups.
• Jason Behrendorff will get some assistance with the new ball. Behrendorff has 28 wickets at a strike rate of 17.35 and an economy rate of 7.83 in the T20s this year. He picked up two wickets in the last game. Similar applies to Spencer Johnson if he is selected.
