So, will that spur them on? They have a mix of both talent and experience to get the job done against a Sri Lanka side still finding its feet. The home side’s latest assignment was a tour of Pakistan at the backend of May that ended with a morale-boosting win in the third ODI after losing the T20I series 3-0. Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Sri Lanka:

• Chamari Athapaththu scored a terrific century in her last international: 101 (85) in the third ODI vs Pakistan earlier this month. The SL captain has the most runs of any SL player against India in T20Is: 350 runs, avg. 20.59, SR 91.86.
• Athapaththu has also taken seven wickets in nine innings against India.
• Hasini Perera recently scored the most runs for Sri Lanka in the three-match T20I series in Pakistan: 63 (avg. 21).
• Oshadi Ranasinghe took six wickets in three matches at an average of 9.00 and economy of 5.14 against Pakistan recently. Against India, she has taken seven wickets in nine innings at an average of 28.00 and economy of 7.95.
• Udeshika Prabodhani has the most wickets of any SL bowler against India. The left-arm seamer has an impressive 15 wickets in as many matches at an average of 16.40 and economy rate of just 5.00.

India:

• Smriti Mandhana had a superb ODI World Cup campaign earlier this year (327 runs, avg. 46.57). Interestingly, Mandhana has a poor record against Sri Lanka in T20s: 12 inns, 154 runs, avg. 14.00, SR 98.09. She does have the form and class to improve on this.
• Jemimah Rodrigues was the top scorer in India’s 2018 tour of Sri Lanka. The left-hander smashed 191 runs in four innings at an average of 63.66 and strike rate of 155.28, with two fifties.
• Harmanpreet Kaur recently struck the most runs in the T20 Women’s Challenge. The India captain scored 151 runs in three matches at an average of 50.33 and strike rate of 138.53.
• Kaur also has moderate numbers against Sri Lanka that she would be looking to build on: 11 inns, 233 runs, avg. 23.30, SR 112.56.
• Poonam Yadav has an impressive 17 wickets in 12 matches against Sri Lanka at an average of 13.47 and economy of 5.73. This includes eight wickets in five matches in the 2018 tour (avg. 11.62, econ. 5.81).
• Watch out for Pooja Vastrakar, particularly at the death. The attacking seam bowler took the most wickets (6) in the T20 Women’s Challenge earlier this year.
• Deepti Sharma has taken eight wickets in nine innings vs SL at an average of 20.75 and economy of 5.35.

Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium Pitch Report and Weather

Hot and humid weather is forecast, which will test the players in this day match. However, it is expected to be quite breezy, which could provide the players with some comfort. Also, some rain is forecast, but the wind can help blow conditions over the ground to ensure a full match.

This will be the first T20 on this ground since 2018. Dambulla smashed 217 batting first, before Kandy nearly chased the total down (211). Expect the surface to have assistance for the spinners.
