It is the halfway point of the season for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC). And, it’s safe to say it’s must-win territory for both teams. SRH sit second from bottom with DC just below them, so it’s go time if either unit has genuine intentions of reaching this season’s playoffs.

SRH have arguably been the most disappointing team in IPL 2023. After two terrible losses to start the season, they seemed to get their act together in the following two matches. However, they have since suffered two further poor defeats. So, if that pattern continues, they will win this clash, but it’s never as simple as that in the IPL.

For DC, the intention is to build on their first win of the season last time out. The bowlers hold the key against an up-and-down SRH batting lineup, with early inroads sure to bring some doubts into Aiden Markram’s team. Also, there is the small measure of a focused David Warner wanting to do well against his former franchise, like he did last season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

• Harry Brook holds the key up top for SRH. He has crossed 20 just once in six matches so far this season, which was his superb 100* against KKR.
• Rahul Tripathi will be vital against DC’s spinners. He has struck 34 off 14 balls against Kuldeep in the IPL (one dismissal), but has scored just seven off 11 balls against Axar Patel with one dismissal.
• Tripathi has a modest career record against DC. He has scored just 152 runs in ten matches at an average of 19.00 and strike rate of 139.45.
• Aiden Markram struck 42 off 25 balls against DC last season. The SRH captain has hit 574 runs in 20 T20 matches this year at an average of 35.88 and strike rate of 139.66.
• Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the wood over Manish Pandey. He has dismissed the right-hander four times in 19 balls in the IPL, conceding just 20 in the process.
• Also, Kumar has conceded just 28 off 32 balls in all T20s against David Warner, dismissing him once. Prithvi Shaw has faced 35 balls against Bhuvi with a strike rate of 100 and average of 17.50.
