Two teams outside the top four do battle in the 41st match of IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians (MI) have found their groove, winning their past three games to raise hopes of a classic MI comeback after a slow start to the season. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are nowhere near in the same form, losing five of their seven matches to sit second-last on the table.

Last week, MI were too strong for SRH at the Wankhede. Hardik Pandya’s team won comfortably by four wickets and 11 balls to spare, making light work of SRH’s 162. In that game, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma batted beyond the powerplay, but MI’s attack worked nicely as a unit to restrict the strong batting lineup.

Promisingly for MI, they followed up their victory over SRH with another very big win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The bowling attack worked as a unit again, before Rohit Sharma announced his arrival to IPL 2025 with his most influential and dominant innings to date. If he can repeat it in Hyderabad, MI will be in good stead.

SRH still have seven games to play but this feels like a must-win. Apart from two very high-scoring matches this season, SRH have shown an inability to adapt and perform in different scenarios. A lot rests on the bowlers to keep MI in check, while their batters have a key role to play as usual. If they don’t click quickly, their season will be over before they know it.

Top wicket-keeper picks:

• Ryan Rickelton has made six double-figure scores in a row, but has crossed 50 just once. He’s looked in good form, and will be looking to make a bigger score against a struggling SRH attack.
• Heinrich Klaasen has scored 173 runs vs MI at an average of 34.6 and strike rate of 180.2. He has scored 37 runs off 23 balls without dismissal against Trent Boult in T20s.

Key batter picks:

• Rohit Sharma rediscovered his form with 76* (45) against CSK. He averages just 22.4 vs SRH and has a poor matchup against Cummins and Harshal (see below), but he has some momentum now.
• Travis Head struggled against MI last week, but he remains a top fantasy pick. Overall against MI, Head has scored 187 runs at an average of 37.4 and strike rate of 153.3. He has never been dismissed by Trent Boult in all T20s (56 balls, 78 runs).
• Suryakumar Yadav is in great touch. He’s made a 25+ score in each game this season and is striking at 162.43 overall. He is currently the fourth-highest scorer in IPL 2025 with 333.

Top all-rounder picks:

• Abhishek Sharma belted 141 (55) in his last match on this ground. He has some poor matchups against Bumrah, Boult and Hardik (see below), so he needs a turnaround today.
• Hardik Pandya is offering value with bat and ball throughout the season. He may look to bowl early to Abhishek (10 balls, 9 runs, two wickets).

Key bowler picks:

• Jasprit Bumrah is starting to really find his rhythm. The great fast bowler has been economical in his past two games, taking 1/21 (vs SRH) and 2/25 (vs CSK). Also, Bumrah has an excellent record against Abhishek Sharma in the IPL: 23 balls, 17 runs, two wickets.
• Pat Cummins has the second-most wickets for SRH this season (7) and has dominated Rohit Sharma in the IPL: 33 balls, 40 runs, four wickets. He also has an excellent record against Suryakumar Yadav: 43 balls, 48 runs, three wickets.

• Harshal Patel is owned by approximately 47% of teams. He is SRH’s top wicket-taker this season (9) and has excellent matchups against Rohit Sharma (29 balls, 35 runs, 3 wickets) and Hardik Pandya (16 balls, 24 runs, 3 wickets)
• Trent Boult has picked up just one wicket in his past three games, but he has a good matchup against Abhishek Sharma in the IPL: 29 balls, 30 runs, two wickets. He also has a strong matchup against Ishan Kishan in all T20s: 46 balls, 43 runs, three wickets.
• Will Jacks won player of the match against SRH last week. He hit 36 (26) and took 2/14 where he dismissed left-handers Head and Kishan.
• Tilak Varma can be an excellent pick if MI bats first. He has made a 20+ score in each of his six innings this season.
