He’s well and truly found his hands.

The crowd, players, commentators and all on social media were in awe of the genius that is Steve Smith, after he produced one of the finest ODI hundreds in recent times. Two days after striking the third-fastest ODI century by an Australian, Smith repeated the dose on Sunday, executing the kind of ball placement and striking that every single cricketer on this planet aspires to.

When you think of 360-degree batting, you think of reverse sweeps, scoop shots and all that’s come with the rise of T20 cricket. But, this one was different. This was a 360-degree knock filled with traditional cricketing shots. Cover drives. Irresistible flicks of middle stump. Carving deliveries past point. Sixes down the ground and over mid-wicket. Perfection.

There was barely a mistimed shot, let alone a false shot. As one fan put it, he barely took a risk, and found himself on 96 off 59 balls. India simply had no answers, no matter where they put the ball and fielders. And the series was slipping away for India as Smith tightened his grip.

Check out the Twitter reactions from a knock that will be remembered for sometime, as Smith won player of the match for the second match running in Australia’s series win over India.

The ODI series, which has been won by Australia, moves to Canberra for the third ODI on Wednesday. However, while this series is over, both sides will be motivated to get a win in the third game, as ODI Super League points are up for grabs.

And, we may be in for another Steve Smith epic. He is just in that kind of form.
