Delhi Capitals (DEL-W) and UP Warriorz (UP-W), two teams who suffered very close defeats first up, meet in the fourth match of WPL 2024. Both teams are in need of a victory in these early stages with Mumbai Indians looking solid and Royal Challengers Bangalore looking much-improved.

DEL-W came within a whisker of defeating defending champions Mumbai on the opening night. A final-ball six broke their hearts, but here they have the chance to make amends. With regards to UP-W, they’ll be disappointed with the way they played spin against RCB, which is an area for improvement today.

UP Warriorz:

Tahlia McGrath

• McGrath hasn’t been in the best of form of late, but she played well against Delhi last season. She smashed scores of 90* (50) and 58* (32) against them.
• The all-rounder was UP-W’s top scorer in WPL 2023 with 302 at an average of 50.33 and strike rate of 158.11.
• McGrath has scored 41 off 28 balls against Alice Capsey (one dismissal).

Grace Harris

• Harris is in incredible form. She started the season with 38 off 23 balls and was looking good for more. She also took a wicket, fetching a total of 99 Dream11 points.
• Since the start of 2023, Harris has smashed 883 runs in franchise T20s at an average of 32.7 and strike rate of 163.5.
• A key matchup is Harris against Marizanne Kapp. She has dismissed the South African three times in 11 balls (5 runs).

Sophie Ecclestone

• Spinners have played a key role so far this season.
• Ecclestone was the equal-highest wicket-taker in WPL 2023 with 16. She took a single wicket in each of her two matches against Delhi.
• The left-arm spinner has a strong record against Shafali Verma: 39 balls, 34 runs, three wickets. She has also dismissed Alice Capsey twice in 30 balls (34 runs), Marizanne Kapp twice in 35 balls (45 runs), and Alyssa Healy twice in 49 balls (45 runs).

Delhi Capitals:

Marizanne Kapp

• The all-rounder has dismissed McGrath five times in 49 balls in T20s (41 runs). She also has had the better of Grace Harris: 80 balls, 78 runs, four wickets.
• In nine matches last season, Kapp scored 177 runs (avg. 44.25) and took nine wickets. The fact she often opens the bowling provides more potential for fantasy points.

Alice Capsey

• A genuine captaincy option. The offspinning all-rounder fetched 149 Dream11 fantasy points in the opening game against MI.
• Capsey struck 75 (53) and took two wickets.
• Last season, Capsey was in the runs against UP-W. She scored 21 (10) and 34 (31). She also took 3/26 in her last meeting against them.

Meg Lanning

• Lanning was the top scorer in WPL 2023 with 345. She scored 70 (42) and 39 (23) against UP-W.
• The captain fares pretty well against Sophie Ecclestone in T20s: 79 balls, 97 runs, avg. 48.50.

Other solid Dream11 picks:

• Alyssa Healy can swing the match her team’s way. She made two starts against the Capitals last season: 24 (17) & 36 (34).
• Rajeshwari Gaiyakwad is a solid pick as she has a terrific record against Meg Lanning in T20s: 47 balls, five wickets, 52 runs conceded.
• Jemimah Rodrigues made a strong start to WPL 2024 with 42 (24) in the opening match.
• Deepti Sharma struggled against Delhi last season but her all-round ability provides her with potential for fantasy points.
