West Indies v India 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction. WI vs IND 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction August 11 2019
In honour of the World Cup’s second week, the first ODI between West Indies and India was washed out.
West Indies’ promising start against India was, surprisingly, despite Chris Gayle’s painstakingly slow innings. Evin Lewis displayed the kind of form India knows he can produce given his IPL history, of which West Indies will want a repeat of against India’s capable new ball bowling. With the winner of the second ODI now unable to lose the series, will it be the home side who pick up a good coup?
Like West Indies, life after the World Cup began for India. Like the World Cup, their new ball bowlers were often on the money, building pressure of which wickets followed. The pressure accounted for Chris Gayle last time out, and India will want a repeat of that, along with building pressure against Evin Lewis a little better than they did last time out.

Key to a West Indies win
Early wickets were a problem for West Indies in the T20Is, but Evin Lewis was key in delivering a solid start in the rain-ruined first match. However, the Windies might be better off having Chris Gayle going hard early, rather than trying to play his way into an innings with dot balls. A good start against Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami sets the platform nicely for the talented Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer to play off.
Also, West Indies with their team selection in the first ODI suggested they are looking for balance. The tackiness of the tracks so far in India’s tour puts onus on the medium pacers and spinners to keep a lid on India’s scoring rate. Ideally, this will be off the back of an excellent start by Sheldon Cottrell and Kemar Roach, of which West Indies can seek to target India’s middle order that is under question again after the dreaded match last month.
Key to an India win
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami combined to concede just 16 runs in seven overs in the first ODI. However, India’s support pacer needs to deliver control better than Khaleel Ahmed did in the first match. If Khaleel is given another chance, he needs to grab it with both hands. However, India’s spinners, who were strong in their last match at Queen’s Park, will have another key role to play in forcing the Windies’ attacking lineup to force the pace.
Also, we didn’t get to see India’s batting lineup play after the decision to leave KL Rahul out. The top three, as always, will be key, but eyes will be on Shreyas Iyer and whether he can be the number four India have been longing for. A strong platform is key, with plenty resting on Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja to finish the innings strongly.
Pitch and conditions
Much more promising conditions are expected in Port of Spain – mostly sunny and early 30 degrees. The last ODI on this ground was two years ago, where India won after scoring 300+.
Possible Playing 11

Stats and Facts
- India have played seven of the last eight ODIs at Queen’s Park.
- Chris Gayle is eight runs away from Brian Lara’s record of 10,405 runs by a West Indian in ODIs.
- Kuldeep Yadav needs six wickets to reach 100 in ODIs.
Match Prediction
Inclement weather has had a say right throughout India’s tour so far. In this match, there should be no such trouble.
Expect West Indies to put on a good fight, but the quality of India’s spinners compared to the home side’s attack could prove vital. India to win.
