Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Yuzvendra Chahal, has started off the IPL season with a win, giving their fans a promising start. The clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Virat Kohli’s team showed a few glaring flaws in both teams, however it was Yuzvendra Chahal’s sticky bowling that helped the team cross the finish line.
After pulling down the prime three batsmen Manish Pandey, Jonny Bairstow, and Vijay Shankar, Chahal proved that the middle order of the opposition was a matter of concern. Chahal’s attacking performance made him Kohli’s go-to archangel.
Yuzvendra Chahal was also the Man of the Match (3/18). “When I bowled my first over, there was a little grip. I decided to bowl a stump to stump line and my captain told me to go for attacking deliveries. One point of time they were batting well, so I can’t bowl every ball fast. So I bowled wider and turning, which is difficult to hit. For Bairstow I went straighter and a little leg side because it’s difficult to hit from there. For Shankar, Kohli came up to me and we decided to go for the googly first up”, he said.
Due to Mitchell Marsh’s injury, SRH was under pressure, though the chasing number (164) was certainly not impossible for a T20 match. But after Bairstow, Shankar got out very easily putting all the pressure on India’s Under 19 captain Priyam Garg who was dismissed for 12 off 13 balls.
