Zimbabwe and Oman will meet in the 8th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. It should be an exciting game, as both sides have quality players in their ranks, and will be eager to start off their campaign with a win. Both sides played a warmup game where Oman defeated Zimbabwe by four wickets by chasing down 187 runs.

Zimbabwe has more experience, with the likes of Sikandar Raza, Brendon Taylor, Brad Evans, Ryan Burl, Blessing Muzarabani, and Richard Ngarava having played a lot of international and franchise cricket over the years. They have a good bowling attack – especially in the pace department – but they’ll have to be on their toes while batting if they are to go far in the tournament.

On the other hand, Oman will be confident after defeating Zimbabwe in the warmup game. Jatinder Singh (55 runs), Hammad Mirza (35 runs), and Jiten Ramanandi (34* runs) were the pick of the batters. However, this is a different game, as Sikandar Raza will play in this match, and Oman will have to be at their best to win.

Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Colombo Pitch Report and Weather

The wicket is expected to be a balanced one for this game, as it was in the Netherlands-Pakistan match on Saturday. The spinners will be important as the ball may grip and turn in this day game.

The batters can play their shots once they’ve got their eye in. Exploiting the powerplay will be the key. Scores in the range of 150-170 are expected.  Teams may prefer chasing, but batting first won’t be a bad option either.

It will be a cloudy day in Colombo with a 10% chance of rain during the game time. The temperature will be around 25-27 degrees Celsius.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for ZIM vs OMN: Players to Watch/Key Stats

Top Wicket-Keeper Picks:

  • Brendon Taylor will bat in the top three for Zimbabwe. He is a key batter for his side and looked in good touch during the warmup matches. Taylor will look to take advantage of the field restrictions and can score big on his day. He will be a good C/VC pick as well.

Key batter picks:

  • Jatinder Singh is someone whom you should pick in your fantasy teams for this game. He will open the batting and may roll his arms over if needed. He scored 55 runs in the warmup game against Zimbabwe.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Sikandar Raza is one of the best all-rounders in T20 cricket and the best player for Zimbabwe. He can win games with both bat and ball. Raza was in exceptional bowling form in the recently concluded SA20 and will be the best captain choice for this match.
  • Brian Bennett is another must-pick in fantasy cricket. He will look to attack from the first ball and has been in terrific touch lately. Bennett will bowl a few overs of his off-spin as well. He will be an excellent C/VC option.
  • Brad Evans will be a key pacer for Zimbabwe. He will bowl the important overs and is capable of hitting down the order. Since the start of 2025, Evans has taken 30 T20I wickets at an average of 15.1 and strike rate of 11.7.
  • Ryan Burl is a brute hitter on his day and can bowl a few overs of spin if needed. He’s a key batter for Zimbabwe in the middle order, as he can attack the spinners and keep the scoreboard moving. Try him as C/VC in some of your teams.

Key bowler picks:

  • Richard Ngarava is the lead pacer for Zimbabwe. He can swing the new ball, bowl at a good pace, and hit the deck hard. The left-armer has taken 62 T20 wickets since the start of 2024 at a strike rate of 17.5.
  • Blessing Muzarabani is another hit-the-deck bowler from Zimbabwe. He is sharp and can move the new ball. Muzarabani will bowl in the power play and then towards the end too.
