NZ pacer Lockie Ferguson suffers from partial stress injury | Lockie Ferguson out for four-six weeks with stress injury in spine

New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson has been injured with a partial stress fracture on his lumbar spine. After his back injury during the West Indies T20I series, this is his second injury due to which he will stay out of the Auckland Aces in the Super Smash. Grey Stead the head of the national team said that Ferguson’s injury has certainly affected the team especially when they are at an exciting form.

New Zealand recently equalled with Australia in the Test rankings after their Test victory and they are certainly aiming to be at the top and qualify for the World Test Championship happening next year.

“The pace and skill he’s been able to consistently produce has made him one of the very best white ball bowlers in the world and a huge asset for the Blackcaps. Lockie has a great attitude and I know he’s up for the fight so he’ll get stuck into the rehab and we’re still hopeful he may get back on the park at the back end of summer”, Stead said while talking about Lockie’s form.

The pacer will require some resting period and rehabilitation before returning to play later summer. Before Bangladesh series that includes three T20Is and three ODIs and goes on till March 28, the Black Caps will indulge in a home series against Australia in late February for five T20Is.
