Twitter reactions after Dale Steyn announces retirement | Dale Steyn announces retirement: Fans, players and pundits react on Twitter

All good things come to an end, even though we don’t want them to. The legendary Dale Steyn, South Africa’s highest-ever Test wicket-taker announced his retirement from cricket on Tuesday, with millions reminiscing on his brilliance throughout a glorious career.

Such was Steyn’s impact that it was not only South African supporters paying tribute to a magnificent cricketing journey. Fans and players from across the globe – including the magnificent James Anderson – took time to commend such a true legend of the game. Others including AB de Villiers and Pat Cummins also sent messages of congratulations to Steyn.

Steyn finishes with 699 international wickets, including 439 in Tests. He goes down as one of the greatest ever fast bowlers, boasting a strike rate of 42.30 in Tests, including a scarcely believable 42.90 in 22 Tests in Asia.

The kind of numbers most pace bowlers can only dream of.
