After Bangladesh’s historic ODI series win over Australia, the visitors made the perfect start in the T20Is. The spinners and Cooper Connolly led the way as the Australians restricted Bangladesh and then chased the 132-run target with four wickets and 10 deliveries to spare.
Bangladesh’s pace attack caused Australia all sorts of problems in the ODIs, and it was Australia’s spinners who returned serve in the opening T20I. Joel Davies (debut) and Adam Zampa took three wickets each, while Matt Renshaw continued his excellent form with the ball, taking two of his own. Other debutant Nikhil Chaudhary pitched in with one.
The tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh have been fruitless so far for Australia, but Cooper Connolly’s magnificent hundred in the third ODI and quickfire 47 in the first T20I is a positive worth focusing on. He will be key here, along with the likes of Mitchell Marsh in Australia’s quest to leave Asia with a series win.
For Bangladesh, they must improve against spin otherwise a series defeat awaits. The onus will be on their top order to set a platform, especially given their bowling attack is in wicket-taking form.

Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin Stadium, Chattogram Pitch Report and Weather: Spin to win once again?
The average first innings score in the last eight T20Is here is 155.75. Chasing teams have won five of these matches, including the last four. With a chance of rain, the captain who wins the toss is likely to chase again.
Spin dominated in the series opener. Australia’s spinners took nine of the 10 wickets to fall, and it is a tactic they could look to employ again.
Fantasy Cricket Tips for BAN vs AUS 2nd T20: Who are the best captaincy options?
Top wicketkeeper picks:
- Josh Inglis has looked in decent touch on this tour, despite not making a big score. He’ll look to go hard at the top. Inglis was in excellent form at the IPL, scoring 266 runs in five matches at an average of 53.20 and strike rate of 186.01.
Key batter picks:
- Mitchell Marsh is a genuine captaincy option in Dream11, despite missing out in the opening T20I. In all T20s since the start of 2025, Marsh has hit 2,154 runs at an average of 39.2 and strike rate of 156.2. This includes 563 runs in IPL 2026 (avg. 43.30, SR 163.18).
- Cooper Connolly is fresh off a superb hundred in the third ODI and a crucial 27-ball 47 in the first T20I. He had an excellent IPL campaign with 491 runs (avg. 44.63, SR 163.12).
- Towhid Hridoy has superb numbers on this ground and can be an excellent Dream11 pick. He has the most runs of any player in Chattogram (388) at an average of 43.11 and strike rate of 149.80.
CricBlog take: Matt Renshaw provides an excellent option as a batter selection in Dream11. He is contributing plenty with the ball, taking seven wickets so far on this tour.
Top allrounder picks:
- Mahedi Hasan helped take Bangladesh above 130 and also took a wicket in the first T20I. He is also a threat to right-handers and he can get the ball to slide on past the outside edge.
Key bowler picks:
- Joel Davies notched up 132 Dream11 points in the opening T20I with his excellent left-arm spin. He can also contribute with the bat down the order. Given Australia’s batting looks shaky, there is every chance Davies gets an opportunity with the bat.
- Adam Zampa is fresh off a man of the match performance. Chattogram has benefitted the spinners in recent times, and Zampa will look to dominate again. He has 18 wickets in eight T20Is against Bangladesh at an average of 10.22 (SR 10.6).
- Rishad Hossain has taken 18 wickets in 11 T20Is at Chattogram (avg. 19.05, SR 13.66).
CricBlog take: Taskin Ahmed can be an excellent pick if he makes the Bangladeshi XI. The fast bowler has the most wickets of any bowler in T20Is at Chattogram (18) at an average of 15.16 and strike rate of 12.27.
Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams
- Nathan Ellis bowls the crunch overs and can challenge the Bangladeshi batters with his variations. Ellis has enjoyed success in T20Is in Bangladesh in the past, even taking a hat-trick in Mirpur in 2021.
- Soumya Sarkar batting at three provides strong fantasy value.
- One of Xavier Bartlett or Spencer Johnson can be worth a pick. Bartlett is a powerplay wicket-taker and can hit runs down the order. Johnson bowls the crunch overs and operates at a high pace.
- Abdul Gaffar Saqlain will be key with his cutters and Bangladesh may try him in the top six again.
- Nikhil Chaudhary will be called on to bowl and can deliver with the bat as a hard-hitting option.
