India’s 2026 tour of Sri Lanka has been confirmed, with two Test matches to be played as part of the World Test Championship (WTC). Galle International Stadium will host the first between August 15-19, before the series heads to Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo between August 23-27.

Sri Lanka vs India 2026 duel the first Test series between the teams since 2022

The series will be the first time India and Sri Lanka meet for a Test match since 2022. India won that series 2-0 and are unbeaten in their last 10 Tests against the Lions, including a 3-0 series sweep the last time they toured the island nation.

It shapes up as an important series as India are fifth and Sri Lanka are sixth in the WTC table. Both teams need a move on with Australia atop the standings and New Zealand and South Africa also well-placed.

There has been speculation that the tour will also include three T20Is. However, that is not the case at this stage with just the two Tests slated for the August tour.

Interestingly, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released their Expression of Interest (EOI) for international media rights, which included India’s tour in September. That update indicates there is hope that Bangladesh and India will meet for six white-ball matches in what has been an eventful year between both nations.
