England have confirmed their playing 11 for the first ODI against India at Edgbaston. Jacob Bethell is listed to open alongside Ben Duckett, with Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jos Buttler making up the top five.
On the bowling front, England have gone more spin focused with Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid alongside Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue. Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Root and Bethell are the other bowling options.

England are aiming to build on the momentum of their 4-0 series win in the T20I series against India. Also, they have struggled in ODIs in recent years, so gaining confidence and consistency will be key ahead of next year’s World Cup.
England’s last ODI assignment was against Sri Lanka in February. They came back from 1-0 down to win the series 2-1 on difficult surfaces.
They meet an India team who are set to have Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah together in the same ODI XI since the 2023 World Cup Final. The Indians will also be gearing up for next year’s World Cup, and the talent they have on display makes this an ODI series not to be missed.
