Zimbabwe is all set to visit Pakistan next month for a limited-overs tour that is scheduled from October 20. Keeping the whole bio-secure bubble in place along with other Covid-19 protocols, both the teams will be facing each other. According to the reports by ESPNCricinfo, Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani has confirmed by saying “hopeful we will be cleared to travel to Pakistan and that an official announcement would be made shortly”.
While the schedule is being formulated, Pakistan Cricket Board is in talks with ICC and ECB about how long the quarantine period should be for the players. Post the Covid-19 outbreak, England was the first cricket board in the world to host an international series, going on to play West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland and Australia. Taking cues from the tour, PCB is formulating the line of action to successfully host the upcoming matches.
Reportedly, there has been decline in the number of Covid cases in Pakistan in August which led to this decision. However, the uncertainty that has surrounded the arrangement of international cricket matches in the country over the past decade means that one needs to wait and watch until a final call is taken on the same.
Not much has been disclosed regarding the whereabouts of the tournaments. However, there have been talks of conducting ODI series in Multan after 12 years, along with T20Is in Rawalpindi.
