AUS-W vs IND-W 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AU-W vs IN-W 2nd ODI Match Dream11 Prediction Today | Australia Women vs India Women 2nd ODI Match Key Players| Mackay Pitch Report
The first ODI between Australia Women and their Indian counterparts was a rude throwback to the early 2000s for all the Indian fans who grew up watching Australia’s men’s team outgun and outskill their side with supreme authority in 50-over cricket.
The gulf between the two teams was quite vividly evident as the former world champions made a mockery of the visitors total of 225 to blaze their way to a record 25th consecutive ODI win.
It didn’t start that way though. Australia were missing their new-ball seamer in Megan Schutt and with Ellyse Perry struggling to find her radar, the opening duo of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma knocked off 30 runs in the first three overs.
However, as has been the case with both Mandhana and Verma in recent months, neither of them converted their start into a big knock and fell in quick succession to Darcie Brown.
The double blow coupled by Mithali Raj’s ultra conservative approach sucked out all the momentum and once the 77-run-stand between Raj and debutant Yatika Bhatia (35 off 51 balls) got broken, the Women in Blue proceeded to lose their next four wickets for 63 runs.
Things could have been worse had debutant Richa Ghosh (32* off 29 balls) and Jhulan Goswami (20 off 24 balls) not added crucial 45 runs to give some respectability to the final total.
The target of 226 was never going to be enough on a flat track against a power packed Aussie batting line-up and it didn’t as the hosts carter the Indian bowlers, especially their spinners to all corners of the ground and notch up a nine-wicket win.
Coming into the second game, India not only needs the openers to convert their starts into a big knock, they also need their middle-order-led by skipper Raj to show more intent. The positive intent shown by Yatika and Richa in the last game was perhaps the only positive for Team India but they will desperately need their skipper to bat with a more positive mindset and lead the young middle-order from the front.
As for Australia, they would look to repeat exactly what they have done in their last 25 games to claim yet another series in their kitty.
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Australia Women:
- Rachael Haynes: The veteran Aussie cricketer had a dream outing in the first ODI as she displayed her athleticism in the field by saving crucial runs besides claiming a couple of catches.
- She then backed it up with an unbeaten 100-ball 93 to guide her side to a 9-wicket win. She is in doubt for this match due to an incident in training where she was struck on the elbow. Keep an eye out for this news.
- Alyssa Healy: The champion wicketkeeper-batter smashed a run-a-ball 77 in the last game which included 8 fours and a couple of sixes. She now averages 48.85 in nine innings against India (342 runs). She also claimed a catch besides completing a couple of stumpings.
- Darcie Brown: The right-arm pacer was easily the best bowler on show across both sides’ in the first ODI. Brown claimed four wickets for 33 runs in her nine overs which included the prized scalps of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, and troubled the Indian batters with her bounce.
- Meg Lanning: The Aussie skipper scored a brilliant unbeaten 53 in the last game and she will be looking to notch up a three-figure score in the upcoming fixture. She is absolutely incredible when chasing in ODIs, averaging 67.51 in 46 such matches.
- Sophie Molineux: The left-arm orthodox claimed a couple of wickets including a prized scalp of Mithali Raj. She will be the one to watch out for against a fragile Indian middle-order, courtesy of her accuracy and consistency.
India Women:
- Smriti Mandhana: Unlike the previous so many years, Smriti Mandhana has failed to convert her start into a big knock in 2021. In 9 innings, the stylish opener has managed just 244 runs at an average of 30.50 with one 50+ score.
- She looked good in the first ODI but fell against the run-of-play for an 18-ball 16. Can the southpaw notch up a big score in the forthcoming fixture?
- Shafali Verma: The swashbuckling opener was at her attacking best in the first ODI where a short ball from Brown led to her undoing. With the Aussies expected to pepper her with more short pitch stuff in the forthcoming fixtures, can the 17-year-old rise to the challenge?
- Mithali Raj: The Indian skipper is averaging 79 in 8 innings this year but the problem is her strike rate which is 68.13. Raj has been guilty of showing little intent during her knock and it was once again on full show in the first game as she meanderd to a pain-staking 107-ball 63. Can the Indian captain find another gear to her batting and lead the middle-order from the front in a must-win game?
- Yatika Bhatia: The young southpaw may have scored just 35 in her debut game but the visible intent with which she batted was a positive sign. Can she back it up with another good performance?
- Jhulan Goswami: The veteran seamer bowled with discipline in the first ODI but failed to claim wickets, especially in the first ten overs. Given the fact that spinners are unlikely to make much impact on benign surfaces, the onus will be on the experienced pacer to provide India a good start with the ball. She averages 37.57 with the ball against Australia.

Match Prediction
If one goes by law of average, Australia are due to drop a game at some point but for that to happen, Team India will have to play a lot better than they did in the first match. The Meg Lanning-led unit will start the 2nd ODI as overwhelming favorites.
