BBL09 Match 10: AS vs PS Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BBL09 Match Prediction Today | Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Prediction Today | Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Key Players | AS vs PS Dream11 Prediction
BBL09 has provided fans with cricket all over Australia, including Alice Springs and Moe. Now, the beautiful Adelaide Oval will host its first match of the tournament, between two of last season’s underachievers.
Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers were expected to perform a lot better than they did in BBL08. Now, both have made starts that suggest the need for further improvement, despite the Scorchers getting a crucial win last game. For the Strikers, they will be out for a positive result after smoke put a premature end to their game against the Thunder.
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
- Mitchell Marsh was the star for Perth Scorchers in their last game: 56 (24). Cameron Bancroft also found form last game: 51 (37).
- Josh Inglis: Value at the top? Inglis scored a half-century in the corresponding game at Adelaide Oval last season.
- Ashton Turner is the current leading run-scorer in Strikers-Scorchers matches: 163 (average 20.38). Due for a big one?
- Liam Livingstone’s start last game (29): Something to build on?
- Alex Carey’s last six scores across FC and BBL cricket: 50, 143, 13, 73, 6 and 45. Jono Wells kicked off BBL09 with a fine half century. He was also a shining light in BBL08: 359 runs at average of 44.87.
- Jake Weatherald was superb through the off-side vs Sydney Thunder. Another good knock coming?
- Phil Salt had a bad start to life in the BBL, but he scored 406 runs at a SR of 161.11 in the 2019 Vitality T20 Blast.
- Chris Jordan has taken four wickets in BBL09 and is magnificent in the field. Ashton Agar has eight wickets in six games vs Strikers.
- Rashid Khan vs Scorchers: Four matches, six wickets.

Head to Head:
- Matches 14, Strikers 6, Scorchers 8.
- Scorchers have won four of the past five matches, but Strikers won the most recent clash.
Key to an Adelaide Strikers win
The loss of regular wickets haunted the Strikers in BBL08, and it threatened to do so again vs Sydney Thunder. Perhaps Alex Carey at number four is too low in a T20 game, and can be better utilised in the number three spot (at the lowest). Also, Jake Weatherald, who has played fine knocks in Adelaide, will be key.
Also, did the smoke of Canberra do the Strikers a favour from a cricketing perspective? They started quite loosely with the ball, of which they need to avoid against a Scorchers side coming off a win. Billy Stanlake will be key in the powerplay to set up the game for Rashid Khan.
Key to a Perth Scorchers win
Mitchell Marsh rose to the occasion last game. His powerful ball-striking sent a reminder of the talent he does possess, and if he gets another platform here, fans in the crowd better watch out. Indeed, the key word is platform – the top order has a responsibility to provide one.
Also, Chris Jordan leads the way for the Scorchers with the ball, and in the field. Fawad Ahmed has also provided some fine value with the ball. However, the form of Jhye Richardson is a concern, and the Scorchers need him to deliver against the Strikers’ capable top and middle order.

Match Prediction
This one can really go either way.
The Scorchers have not been convincing away from home since the beginning of BBL08. For that reason, the Strikers, at home, could take this one out in a close match.
