Perth Scorchers return home for Boxing Day action after losing a game they looked almost certain to win against the Strikers. They play the Sydney Sixers for the second time in BBL09, after getting thrashed in Sydney earlier in the tournament.

However, the Sixers have been very up-and-down so far in BBL09. Who will win this one? A tough prediction makes for interesting viewing.

• Josh Philippe put the Scorchers to the sword earlier this season (81 off 44 balls).
• Moises Henriques has the most runs in Scorchers-Sixers matches (306), but has had a quiet start to BBL09. Big game awaiting?
• Out of all players fit to play, Sean Abbott has the most wickets in Scorchers-Sixers games (12).
• Cameron Bancroft (87* off 60 balls) was man of the match in the corresponding game of last season’s BBL.
• Ashton Turner has had a slow start to BBL09. However, he scored 60 (30) vs Sixers in Perth last season.
• Daniel Hughes has also had a poor start to BBL09, but had a wonderful Marsh Cup campaign. Due a big one?
• Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone are coming off an outstanding opening partnership in Adelaide.

Key to a Perth Scorchers win

The Scorchers need to bounce back after the disappointment last time out. Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone were simply superb in getting the Scorchers off to a flyer, but more is needed from an up-and-down middle order. Can Perth get it right as a unit this time?

Also, the Scorchers attack will come up against a Sixers side that was poor vs Brisbane Heat. The seamers, including Chris Jordan, who was poor last game, have a key role to play in the powerplay against the likes of Josh Philippe. Then, the spinners can look to build more pressure in the middle.

Key to a Sydney Sixers win

It was “Lynnsane” in Sydney a few nights ago. Chris Lynn plundered the Sixers attack all over the SCG on Sunday, which requires a response from the Sixers on what is sure to be a hard-hitting Scorchers lineup in Perth. Can the likes of Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis and Tom Curran lead the way?

Also, can Daniel Hughes finally fire in BBL09? The domestic One Day leading run-scorer for 2019 has had a slow start to the campaign, and the Sixers need him to get going here. If he can, the likes of Philippe, James Vince and Moises Henriques become all-the-more dangerous.
