BBL09 Match 23: SS vs AS Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BBL09 Match Prediction Today | Sydney Sixers vs Adelaide Strikers Prediction Today| Sydney Sixers vs Adelaide Strikers Renegades Key Players | SS vs AS Dream11 Prediction
For the first time in BBL history, the action moves to Coffs Harbour in northern New South Wales. The International Sports Stadium in Coffs Harbour; recently refurbished, will have a sell-out crowd in what is an important game in the make up of the BBL table.
Sydney Sixers, after getting hammered by Chris Lynn and Brisbane Heat two weeks ago, have won their past three matches. Adelaide Strikers, currently on seven points, have the chance to overtake the Sixers, who sit second on eight.
This one has the makings for a close battle. Will it turn out to be the case, and who will hold their nerve best?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
- Alex Carey is fifth in the BBL09 run-scoring chart (205 runs at 41.00).
- Jake Weatherald is one run behind Carey in BBL09 (204 runs). However, he needs an improvement vs Sixers (avg. 18.75 in 4 knocks).
- Daniel Hughes will take over the captaincy as Moises Henriques will miss this game as his wife is due to give birth to their first child.
- Hughes’ last three scores in BBL09: 35, 37, 40. Josh Philippe also spent some important time at the crease last game: 33 (30).
- Tom Curran had a bad night last time out, going for 58 off his four overs vs Renegades. However, his all-round ability can never be ignored. He has nine wickets and 89 runs in BBL09.
- Rashid Khan has been a star in BBL09: 71 runs at SR: 191.89 and seven wickets in five games.
- Lloyd Pope’s last two games: 3/23, 2/22.
- Ben Dwarshuis loves playing the Strikers. He has 10 wickets in five games against them, including 3/7 in his last game against them.
- Peter Siddle has had a fine season to date, but is wicketless in three games vs Sixers. Needs an improvement.
- Michael Neser will play his first game of the BBL09. He took nine wickets in six games during the Marsh Cup earlier this season.
- Josh Hazlewood has been named in the Sixers’ squad, but remains to be seen if he is fully fit enough to play this match. It is tough competition, with Jackson Bird having taken five wickets in three games.
Head-to-Head
- Matches 10, Sixers 5, Strikers 5.

Key to a Sydney Sixers win
Moises Henriques has said he is confident the Sixers will do well without him as the side is full of leaders. Indeed, with the experience of Henriques missing, the onus falls on the Sixers’ top three to avoid a powerplay collapse. If they can have Tom Curran coming in to strike big blows, a good total awaits.
Also, the Sixers’ mix of spin and accurate seam has held them in good stead so far in BBL09. Lloyd Pope and Jackson Bird have stepped up nicely, but how will Josh Hazlewood fare if given the chance? Can the Sixers break open the game early against the Strikers?
Key to an Adelaide Strikers win
Phil Salt has played one innings of note so far in BBL09. If he can get going again, the Strikers have enough quality around him to capitalise. Of course, much of the attention will be on the trio of Jake Weatherald, Alex Carey and Jono Wells.
Also, Michael Neser’s inclusion gives the Strikers another dimension. With Peter Siddle and Rashid Khan in good touch this season, Neser could form part of a strong trio that can lead the attack. The Sixers have a tendency to lose quick wickets, so its an opportunity for the Strikers.
Possible Playing 11
Moises Henriques will miss this match to be with his wife as she gives birth to their first child. Daniel Hughes will lead the side. Also, Josh Hazlewood is considered a good chance of playing.
Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. Daniel Hughes (c), 3. James Vince, 4. Jordan Silk, 5. Jack Edwards, 6. Justin Avendano, 7. Tom Curran, 8. Ben Dwarshuis, 9. Ben Manenti, 10. Lloyd Pope, 11. Josh Hazlewood/Jackson Bird
Michael Neser is in Adelaide’s 13-man squad. Harry Nielsen and Wes Agar have been squeezed out.
Adelaide Strikers: 1. Phil Salt, 2. Jake Weatherald, 3. Alex Carey (wk), 4. Matt Short, 5. Jono Wells, 6. Cameron White, 7. Michael Neser, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Harry Conway/Liam O’Connor, 11. Billy Stanlake

Pitch and Conditions
It is mostly unknown as how the surface at the International Sports Stadium in Coffs Harbour will play as this is the first BBL game at the venue. Generally, pitches in regional areas are on the slower side in BBL matches, and this one could be the same.
No rain is forecast for Coffs on Sunday. There has been smoke from NSW Bushfires in recent weeks in the region, but hopefully smoke shouldn’t impact this one.

Match Prediction
A tough match to pick.
How will the Sixers go without Moises Henriques? Can the Strikers take quick wickets, a feature often missing from their game in the past year?
The Strikers could take this one out, with their slightly greater experience shining through.
