Cricket News: DC vs MI Twitter Reactions: Mumbai Indians win thriller vs Delhi Capitals | Reactions to Mumbai Indians’ win over Delhi Capitals
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) served up another last-ball thriller as Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday to secure their first victory of the season.
Chasing 173, the five-time IPL champions appeared to be cruising towards the target considering a fine knock of 65 runs from 45 deliveries from skipper Rohit Sharma, who brought up his first half-century after 24 innings in the tournament. Rohit was well supported by the 20-year-old Tilak Varma as the southpaw struck 41 off 29 deliveries in an innings that comprised of a solitary boundary but four maximums.
However, it was the assuredness and power-hitting ability of the Australian duo of Cameron Green and Tim David that eventually took Mumbai home. Green, dropped to number six from three, played an excellent cameo of 17 runs in eight deliveries to support David and round off a good run chase against a Delhi attack led by Anrich Nortje who was breathing fire in the end.
DC vs MI Twitter reactions: Mumbai Indians win first game of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals lose fourth game in a row
“Winning the game is the most important. We have been working hard from the first game. We had a camp in Mumbai, getting the result (in our favour) feels good. First win is always special,” MI skipper Rohit Sharma remarked in the post match presentation ceremony.
“The conversation (when I went to bat) was to hit two-three boundaries and thankfully it came off. There was definitely pressure there, but it was so much fun, to get ten an over, I mean it’s moments like these are what you wait for, hopefully this (win) will kickstart our campaign,” Green said following his impactful brief knock.
Here are some of the most viral reactions on Twitter to the game.
MI will now host the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at home on Sunday whereas Delhi will head to Bengaluru to square off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday.
