Cricket News: Rinku Singh’s awesome text message to Yash Dayal after the match | Rinku Singh sends humble text message to Yash Dayal
Rinku Singh, the talk of the town after his stunning performance against Gujarat Titans, has provided a reminder of just how humble he is. Yash Dayal, who delivered the final over in the classic encounter, was subject to criticism online, but Singh was quick to encourage the left-arm seamer.
“I texted Yash [Dayal] after the game, saying ‘it happens in cricket, you did really well last year’. I just tried to motivate him a little,” Rinku told India Today.
News of Singh’s text message came soon after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also showed great sportsmanship following the stunning finish to the game. They posted support for Dayal via their official social media accounts, which now has over 1.5 million impressions on Twitter alone.
“Chin up, lad. Just a hard day at the office, happens to the best of players in cricket. You’re a champion, Yash, and you’re gonna come back strong,” read the tweet.
KKR had a 0.69% chance of winning when Rinku Singh faced up to Yash Dayal
At one point, Rinku Singh was eight off 14 balls. KKR required an improbable 39 off eight balls at that stage, with two good deliveries certain to seal victory for Gujarat Titans (GT). Singh then turned it on, hitting 6, 4, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6 in his final seven deliveries to pull of arguably the greatest heist not only in IPL history, but in all T20s.
When we say improbable, we mean it. At ball one of the final over, KKR required 29 for victory, with a win probability of 1.29%. After Umesh Yadav managed just a single, the probability fell to just 0.61%. By ball six, with four needed, the probability was 20.56%, still in GT’s favour.
A performance for the ages; one that will be remembered for years to come.

Next up, KKR will play Sunrisers Hyderabad next, who themselves found form with an important win against Punjab Kings. GT will aim to bounce back against Punjab on Thursday.
