Cricket News: Unlikely to risk Taskin Ahmed in 2nd ODI vs India – Domingo | Will Taskin Ahmed play in 2nd ODI vs India?
Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo has said that it is unlikely they will risk Taskin Ahmed in the second ODI of the ongoing series against India. Speaking to the media on the eve of the match, Domingo said that Taskin, who missed the first ODI due to a back complaint, was progressing well but may still need further time to reach full fitness.
The pace bowler had an injection a few days ago, followed by work in the gym. He has also had a bowl, with eyes on how he pulls up.
I’m not sure we want to risk playing Taskin yet – Russell Domingo
“Taskin had an injection about three or four days ago,” said the Bangladesh coach. “He has done a bit of gym yesterday and had a bit of a bowl today for five six overs. I’m not sure we want to risk playing him yet.”
After this ODI series, the Tigers will play two Tests against India, with the aim of spoiling the visitors’ World Test Championship aspirations.
“There is a lot of cricket to be played. There are a few Test matches and also have opportunity to keep developing the other fast bowlers. So I don’t think we want to risk playing him yet but he is on his way to recovery,” said Domingo.
Off the back of a Mehidy Hasan Miraz miracle, Bangladesh enter the second match with a 1-0 series lead. Should they win one of the final two matches, it will be their second straight bilateral ODI series win over India after their memorable 2-1 triumph in 2015.
