CSA to do security checks in Pakistan before finalizing series | CSA to perform security and COVID checks before touring Pakistan in January
Talks of a South African tour to Pakistan has come to a halt as the Cricket South Africa board wants to check the security arrangement beforehand. The CSA has decided to form a two-member team and send them to Lahore to take a review of the COVID situation as well as the security arrangement of the place for their players. The Proteas are likely to visit the country in the month of January.
According to the PTI reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that the South African delegation will visit Lahore during the four remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League being held between November 14 and 17. “It is a good sign that Cricket South Africa is sending a delegation although the board has already been regularly briefing them on the security and COVID-19 situation in Pakistan which is under control,” a source in the Board said.
Ever since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore 2009, many international teams don’t visit Pakistan for security concerns, while India has suspended all bilateral ties with the country after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. “It is still not decided whether South Africa will only play white-ball matches in Pakistan or also some Tests. The PCB is keen to have Tests against them at home. But the schedule of both tours would be finalized once the delegation gives the clearance to their board,” the source said.
