It’s India vs Bangladesh in a T20 World Cup. The last time that happened, we saw one of the most iconic matches in history, with India prevailing by one run when defeat seemed certain. Mushfiqur Rahim certainly believed so.

A lot was riding on that game, and a lot rides on this one. Had India lost that match in 2016, they would have missed the semi finals. Should they lose here, they risk missing the final four after a great start to the tournament. Also, Bangladesh can take a significant step towards an unexpected semi finals’ appearance themselves, with the Tigers also sitting on two victories.

However, do Bangladesh believe they can win? Shakib Al Hasan is hopeful, but he significantly downplayed his team’s chances. “As I said in Bangla before, India is the favourite team, they came here to win the World Cup. We’re not favourites, we didn’t come here to win the World Cup,” said Shakib. “We know very well that if we win against India, it will be called an upset. We will try to play our best cricket.”

The Bangladesh captain is right in that India have the better side on paper, but deep down the Tigers will give it their all. To do so, they need powerplay wickets to put the in-form Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav under pressure as early as possible. Also, whether their batting has enough firepower to dismantle India’s attack is a big question, but as this tournament has already shown, an upset is always waiting to happen.

If Bangladesh are to inflict a surprise result, they will need to play the game of their lives and for India to be well off their game. However, just as onlinecasinosnoop.com is a premier destination for gambling experiences, the same applies for India reaching the World Cup semi finals.

IND vs BAN Possible Playing XI

Dinesh Karthik is in doubt after picking up an injury against South Africa. Rishabh Pant is likely to come in. Also, India may look to bring back Axar Patel for Deepak Hooda.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. KL Rahul, 3. Virat Kohli, 4. Suryakumar Yadav, 5. Hardik Pandya, 6. Rishabh Pant (wk), 7. Axar Patel, 8. R Ashwin, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Mohammed Shami, 11. Arshdeep Singh

Bangladesh may stick with the same XI that won against Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh: 1. Najmul Hossain Shanto, 2. Soumya Sarkar, 3. Litton Das, 4. Shakib Al Hasan (c), 5. Afif Hossain, 6. Mosaddek Hossain, 7. Nurul Hasan (wk), 8. Mehidy Hasan Miraz/Yasir Ali, 9. Taskin Ahmed, 10. Hasan Mahmud, 11. Mustafizur Rahman

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

India:

  • Suryakumar Yadav continues to amaze. The right-hander struck 68 off 40 balls against South Africa in a game where everyone else scored 184 off 198.
  • Yadav has smashed 935 runs in T20Is in 2022 at an average of 42.50 and strike rate of 183.69.
  • Virat Kohli recently became the second player to reach 1,000 runs in men’s T20 World Cups. He achieved the feat in eight less innings than Jayawardene.
  • In four T20Is against Bangladesh, Kohli has scored 129 runs at an average of 64.50 and strike rate of 113.16.
  • Rohit Sharma has the most runs in BAN-IND T20Is. The skipper has struck 452 runs in 11 matches at an average of 41.09 and strike rate of 144.41.
  • Arshdeep Singh has been magnificent in the powerplay in T20Is this year. He has taken 12 wickets at an average of 17.9 and strike rate of 14.5. Bangladesh have lost seven wickets in the powerplay stage across their three matches in this World Cup.
  • Expect Bhuvneshwar Kumar to find swing in overcast and cool Adelaide. He is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is this year, with 35 wickets in 26 innings at an average of 17.54 and economy of 6.92.

Bangladesh:

  • Shakib Al Hasan will be crucial to Bangladesh’s hopes. The captain has a poor record against India, with just 62 runs in six matches at an average of 10.33 and strike rate of 106.90.
  • Najmul Hossain Shanto was the player who held things together against Zimbabwe (71 off 55 balls). Whether he can get through the powerplay against Arshdeep and Bhuvneshwar will be a big question.
  • Litton Das is Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer in T20Is this year: 17 inns, 474 runs, avg. 27.88, SR 134.27.
  • Taskin Ahmed took figures of 4/25 vs Netherlands and 3/19 vs Zimbabwe. Can he deliver against India? He will be key upfront against the under-pressure KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.
  • Rohit Sharma has scored 145 runs off 147 balls against left-arm seam in all T20s this year, with five dismissals. Can Mustafizur Rahman tap into this opportunity?
  • Mustafizur in T20Is vs India: 8 inns, 4 wickets, avg. 64.00, econ. 8.63.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Matches 11, India 10, Bangladesh 1.
  • Rohit Sharma vs Mustafizur Rahman in all T20s: 51 balls, 86 runs, two dismissals.
  • KL Rahul is in need of runs. He is yet to make a double-figure score in the World Cup, after scores of 74 vs WA XI and 57 vs Australia in the warm ups.
  • Afif Hossain, despite batting at five, is Bangladesh’s second-highest run-scorer in this World Cup with 68 (avg. 22.66, SR 133.33).

Adelaide Oval Pitch Report and Weather

There is a chance of showers throughout the day in Adelaide, but just 0-2mm is expected. So, there should hopefully be a full game.

In seven BBL matches at Adelaide in the 2021/22 season, the average first innings score was 159. The team batting first won four of those games.

The run rate at Adelaide Oval in all T20s over the past three years is 8.13. Pacers have conceded 8.28 per over, with fingerspin (7.53) and wristspin (7.44) proving more economical.
