IND vs WI 3rd T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | IND vs WI 3rd T20 Dream11 Prediction Today | St Kitts Pitch Report

India will be meeting West Indies for the third T20I of their ongoing series in St. Kitts on Tuesday. The series is levelled 1-1 currently and both sides will be edging to get a foot ahead prior to the final two games.

The men from Caribbean secured a convincing victory courtesy of Obed McCoy and Brandon King in the second game and head into the coming match riding on a positive momentum altogether. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian side is on a formidable run of form currently and is likely to be undeterred with the last defeat. On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran’s men will be looking to clinch a consecutive victory and the series looks well-poised for a neck-to-neck contest currently.

IND v WI 3rd T20 Possible Playing XI

West Indies might not ring in many changes given that games are scheduled so close to each other.

West Indies: 1: Brandon King, 2: Kyle Mayers, 3: Nicholas Pooran (C), 4: Shimron Hetmyer, 5: Devon Thomas (wk), 6: Rovman Powell, 7: Odean Smith, 8: Jason Holder, 9: Akeal Hosein, 10: Alzarri Joseph, 11: Obed McCoy

A case could be made for the inclusion of either Ravi Bishnoi or Harshal Patel in place of Avesh Khan to add another dimension to the Indian bowling unit.

India: 1: Rohit Sharma, 2: Suryakumar Yadav, 3: Shreyas Iyer, 4: Rishabh Pant (wk), 5: Hardik Pandya, 6: Ravindra Jadeja, 7: Dinesh Karthik, 8: Ravichandran Ashwin, 9: Harshal Patel/Ravi Bishnoi, 10: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 11: Arshdeep Singh

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

India:

  • Rohit Sharma has scored two half-centuries at an average and strike rate of 43.50 and 142.62 respectively in five T20I innings in the West Indies.
  • The Indian team is currently experimenting with Suryakumar Yadav in the opening position. He has a promising average and strike rate of 36.75 and 136.11 respectively in the 12 innings that he has opened in the IPL so far.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s wicket-taking abilities often goes for a toss against the West Indies. He has scalped only 11 dismissals in 16 T20Is against the two-time World T20 champions. Also, his role is more limited to the powerplay as India try out their death options.
  • Rishabh Pant has a rather middling record at number four in T20Is. In 24 innings, the southpaw has only recorded an average and strike rate of 17.95 and 124.42 respectively in this batting position. In stark contrast, he has scored 1740 runs at an average of 36.67 at a scoring rate of 147.71 in 52 IPL innings at number four.
  • Shreyas Iyer has an incredible overall T20I record of an average and strike rate of 32.45 and 137.12 including six half-centuries in 40 T20I innings. However, he has struck only 49 runs in six T20Is against the West Indies.

West Indies:

  • Nicholas Pooran has been in some stunning form in this calendar year. He has struck 488 runs at an average and strike rate of 48.80 and 135.56 in 13 T20Is in 2022.
  • Shimron Hetmyer has a curiously poor T20I record as compared to his exploits in franchise cricket. The 25-year-old has an average of merely 20.70 and a strike rate nearing 117 in 37 T20Is so far.
  • Jason Holder has sparked a turnaround in his bowling in T20Is in recent times. He has picked 29 wickets in 22 T20Is since the beginning of 2021. Holder has also picked three four-wicket hauls during this time period.
  • Akeal Hosein has been quite impressively efficient with respect to containing runs in his T20I career so far. The left-arm spinner has a career economy rate of 6.91 in 25 T20Is and can be used a potent option to neutralise Rohit and Suryakumar in the powerplay overs.
  • Obed McCoy has had a terrific start to his T20I career so far. He has taken 29 wickets in 18 games at a bowling average, strike rate and economy of 15.48, 12.41 and 7.48 respectively. This is particularly positive given that the pacer is usually tasked with bowling the tough overs towards the fag end of the innings.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Played 22, India 14, West Indies 7, No Result 1
  • The two sides had first faced in a T20I way back in 2009 at Lord’s during the T20 World Cup. Interestingly, Rohit had opened the innings for India in that game 13 years ago as well.
  • West Indies is usually regarded to be the superior T20I side between the two teams. However, India has emerged victorious in 12 of their last 15 T20Is against the Caribbean side.
  • Teams batting second have won nine of the 11 T20Is played at the Warner Park in St. Kitts.
  • The average first innings batting score in this ground across 11 T20Is is merely 121 runs.

Warner Park St Kitts Pitch Report and Weather

A slow and low wicket has generally been the norm in this ground. However, the trend suggests that tracks tend to get better for batting as the game progresses towards the second innings. Hence, the side that wins the toss might arguably prefer to have a ball first. A partly cloudy weather with the temperature ranging around 28 °C is expected during the course of the game.

IND vs WI 3rd T20 Match Prediction: Who will win?

The Indian batsmen are comparatively better-equipped to deal with slow and low wickets. They might have to alter from a gung-ho approach to put up a better performance with the bat in this game. They arguably do have a better bowling attack to pip West Indies in this game. Rohit’s men should possibly take a 2-1 lead in the series at the end of this match.
