India vs Australia 1st T20I Preview Dream11. IND vs AUS 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction
One of the world’s biggest rivalries screens again soon after the last episode ended. Even better, there is context to this series in a World Cup year, with spots in limited overs teams available for the taking. Who will kick off this two-match T20I series with a win?
With India coming off their best ever tour down under, it will be another big test for the Aussies. India begin their first home assignment since November after a Test series win in Australia, and ODI series wins in both Australia and New Zealand. However, one format they will be looking for a turnaround is T20Is, where they won two out of five completed matches down under. With Visakhapatnam sure to be rocking, will India continue their good run of results over Australia?
Australia’s difficult summer ended with a convincing 2-0 Test series win over Sri Lanka. That result now looks even better after Sri Lanka’s unbelievable series win in South Africa. However, the long BBL season also recently ended, with players right across the board struggling to hit big on the slower pitches on display. India, who now have Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah back, will be sure to make Australia work hard to start their tour with a win. Will Australia, of which many of their players have played IPL Cricket, make a quick adjustment to Indian conditions?

Key to an India win
India’s success in the recent T20I series vs New Zealand came when their bowlers delivered. They restricted New Zealand beautifully at the small Eden Park, making inroads into the top order. Here, they need to do the same. Aaron Finch has been struggling for form for a while now, and D’Arcy Short is still to prove himself in Australian colours. With the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis in solid form to finish the BBL season, India will want to target them as early as possible to restrict scoring. Jasprit Bumrah will be key in the powerplay and death overs, along with his seam partner, of which then the spinners can look to work their magic in the middle overs.

Also, will India’s batting prove too much for Australia’s bowling? It is dangerous to assume so, given the talent available in Australia’s lineup. Without a doubt, India require more from Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan this time, after below satisfactory returns in the T20I series in New Zealand. With the likes of Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni to follow, India have plenty of firepower, even without Hardik Pandya, to back up a strong start. Against an Australian side looking to get a foothold in the game, a strong powerplay is crucial.
Key to an Australia win
On the flip side, can Australia cause damage to India’s top order in the powerplay? While India possess strong firepower in their middle order, Australia can force them to rebuild with a strong showing early. The wickets of the top three will be crucial, and with Australia possessing a number of talented pace bowlers to choose from, getting two of the excellent top three cheaply can help set the game up. Of course, still more work needs to be done after that, which is where the likes of Marcus Stoinis and the spinners will be important.

Also, how Australia fare with the bat in the powerplay overs will be crucial. Aaron Finch and D’Arcy Short, the likely openers, need to balance power with strike rotation in the early overs to ensure Australia move along nicely without too damage. The Aussies need the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis to work off a platform, rather than having them rebuild the innings as a result of quick wickets. Can the Aussies reach the last five overs with wickets in hand and at least one set batsman? In a tough game against strong opposition, how well Australia rotate the strike and execute their plans will be key.
Possible Playing 11
Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah return to the India squad after rests, and will slot in. Kuldeep Yadav has been rested, which means Mumbai Indians young-gun Mayank Markande could possibly be in line for a debut. With Hardik Pandya out injured, Vijay Shankar deservedly should keep his place after promising form in the New Zealand series. However, he could miss out as India look to get their bowling stocks in order.
