India vs Australia 3rd ODI Preview Dream11. IND vs AUS 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction
Would you look at that. A series that could have easily been 1-1 sits at 2-0, giving Australia fans a sense of deja vu from the series at home just two months ago.
India continue to find ways to win. Their usually fantastic top order was under par in Hyderabad, but the middle order got them home. As was the case in Melbourne. Then, the batting, bar Vijay Shankar and the magnificent Virat Kohli, struggled against disciplined Australian bowling in Nagpur. An incredible turnaround in the final overs delivered more joy for India in what has been a superb 2019 to date. Are they set to seal the series 3-0?
For Australia, the frustration continues. They have had their moments this series, and should be at least level heading into this one. After restricting India to 99/4 in Hyderabad, they fought hard in the middle overs in Nagpur, but the lack of nous in the crunch moments hurt them once again. They have no choice now but to execute in the big moments to keep the series alive at MS Dhoni’s home ground in Ranchi.

Key to an India win
India are winning, but they aren’t quite without their concerns. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan remain terrific players, but their form (or lack of) in recent times is a tad worrying. Dhawan, in particular, needs a bit of a confidence boost, stuck with an average in the mid 20s since his superb Asia Cup campaign last year. With Virat Kohli simply Virat Kohli, India’s top three can cause quite a bit of damage to Australia’s confidence, setting a strong platform for India’s middle order to build off it. One player who was mighty impressive in Nagpur was Vijay Shankar, and India will be keen to have him come in with Australia on the back foot.
However, where India have been mighty impressive is with the ball. They didn’t start particularly well in the second ODI, but the middle overs is where they are so strong, building dot ball pressure on Australia. With both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal a big chance of playing, they have crucial roles to play in the early and middle overs to build the pressure on Australia. With Jasprit Bumrah the world’s best death bowler, India can really limit Australia in those key overs if they don’t have wickets in hand or set batsmen at the crease.
Key to an Australia win
How good was Pat Cummins? In his first seven ODIs against India, he took a combined 4/318. He took the new ball in Nagpur, and bowled beautifully right the way through to finish with 4/29. In Ranchi, it is crucial he steps up again, with support from his fellow seam bowlers and Australia’s two spinners who need to build pressure in the middle overs. To do that, Australia need to get the better of India’s top three, targeting Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan with a mix of short pitched and fuller bowling, forcing the early arrival of the great Virat Kohli. Can Australia get an early shot at India’s middle order?
However, Australia must step up with the bat. They fell short in the first two ODIs mainly due to their batting, struggling to rotate strike effectively in the middle overs. Aaron Finch (who finally had some time at the crease) and Usman Khawaja provided a strong, promising start in Nagpur, and need to do so again, giving the middle order a platform to build off. Indeed, the likes of Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb will be crucial in keeping the strike ticking, giving Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis a solid base to score quick runs. Will Australia’s batsmen help keep the series alive?

Possible Playing 11
Bhuvneshwar Kumar could make a return to the team, possibly for Mohammed Shami. Also, Yuzvendra Chahal is a chance to play, and it remains to be seen whether India go in with both wristspinners. Remember, Ravindra Jadeja contributed pretty well with the bat last game. Another question is whether India persist with Ambati Rayudu, who seems to be eating up too many deliveries. This could be a good time for India to test KL Rahul or Vijay Shankar in the number four position.
India: 1. Shikhar Dhawan, 2. Rohit Sharma, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Ambati Rayudu/KL Rahul, 5. Vijay Shankar, 6. MS Dhoni (wk), 7. Kedar Jadhav, 8. Ravindra Jadeja, 9. Mohammed Shami/ Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Kuldeep Yadav/Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Jasprit Bumrah
Australia could look to rest injury-prone Nathan Coulter-Nile as a Pakistan series looms after this one.
Australia: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Aaron Finch (c), 3. Shaun Marsh, 4. Peter Handscomb, 5. Glenn Maxwell, 6. Marcus Stoinis 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Nathan Coulter-Nile/Jhye Richardson/Jason Behrendhorff, 9. Pat Cummins, 10. Nathan Lyon 11. Adam Zampa
Dream11 Prediction
Key stats and points:
- The pitch at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi is said to be on the slower side. However, the ball could skid onto the bat with dew expected, so the team who wins the toss will likely bowl first.
- Virat Kohli has a fifty and hundred in three innings on this ground (avg. 261.00).
- Rohit Sharma (14.50) has a poor record at the ground (three innings). However, he can’t be written off. Shikhar Dhawan has been in shaky form of late, so pick him if you feel his time is now.
- Vijay Shankar represents excellent value for the all-rounder position, especially given India could try him again up the order.
- Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb are two of Australia’s better players of spin, making them good choices. Usman Khawaja has looked in good touch, scoring 50 and 38 this series.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar, if selected, will be a dangerous option vs Aaron Finch. He dismissed the Aussie skipper on all three occasions in Australia.
- Glenn Maxwell scored 92 in his ODI at Ranchi in 2013.
- Pat Cummins took four wickets in the last match. His previous seven matches vs India yielded the same number of scalps.
- Adam Zampa has four wickets in two matches this series.

Match Prediction
Australia have come so close to a win in recent matches vs India.
And, I think this is the game where they break the rut. Just have that feeling they are due. I will back Australia to win this one in an upset, overcoming India thanks to a big effort from the middle order.
