India vs Australia 5th ODI Preview Dream11. IND vs AUS 5th ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction
In one of the most unexpected twists in recent times, we have a decider. At the start of the series, not many (myself included) could have expected this series would reach this stage. Even less so at 2-0.
However, here we are. This is one we can’t wait for.
India, though, would be wondering how they haven’t won the series. After a great escape in the second ODI, India have put in two underwhelming performances to surrender the advantage. A score of 350+ at home, including a six by Jasprit Bumrah, should usually mean a win, but India were horrendous in the field last time out. They will remain one of the top World Cup contenders even with defeat here, but a series loss from 2-0 up at home against a rival surely won’t sit well with management and fans. Will this turn out to be good pressure for India?
On the other side, a series win by Australia from 2-0 down will be one of their finest ODI series wins. The Aussies have won their last two series across formats, and can continue the winning feeling from an improbable position. Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb have showcased their capability in building an innings, and Ashton Turner played the innings of a lifetime in just his second ODI. After their highest ever successful chase, Australia have every reason to believe. Can they pull off an incredible series win in Delhi?

Key to an India win
In what was pleasing for India, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan put together a characteristically strong opening stand. The exact same 193-run stand as Australia’s in the third ODI was turned into a 350+ score, which is the kind of form India will want in this one. Virat Kohli’s position is three, and India will be counting on him to deliver in a series decider. With India possessing plenty of talent in their middle order, a strong platform from the top three is crucial to reduce the pressure.
Also, India’s bowling and fielding was well below par in Mohali. Dew was a factor, but the Indian side has plenty of experience and quality to deal with it better. Bhuvneshwar Kumar well and truly has the wood on Aaron Finch, and can deliver India an early opening. Shaun Marsh has had an underwhelming series, which India can exploit. You feel they let the foot off the gas a touch in the last game with Australia in trouble, which is something they must avoid in the capital. Can India force an opening early and then take advantage in the middle overs? What about their fielding, which was borderline embarrassing in Mohali? (Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan, we are looking at you). With the World Cup to contain plenty of pressure games, this is a great opportunity for India to test their mettle.
Key to an Australia win
Time and time again, Australia weren’t given a chance. However, the team has stayed in the fight. The challenge for the Aussies will be to display the same commitment and desire consistently, which has been a feature of their series to date. Indeed, Peter Handscomb and Usman Khawaja highlighted their capabilities further in ODI Cricket. They are crucial in building the innings for Australia. So too Aaron Finch, who can provide Australia with the quality starts they had in Nagpur and Ranchi. However, can he overcome his nemesis Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who will again look to swing the ball back into him? What platform will be set for a middle order clearly capable of landing big blows? Coming off their biggest ever successful run chase in ODIs, Australia need to build consistency and perform with the bat once again.
Also, can Australia rediscover their success against India’s openers? Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan hit form in Mohali, and the challenge for Australia will be to bounce back right away. Early wickets are key to target the brilliant Virat Kohli as early as possible, so onus is on Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson to deliver a strong start. This then enables Australia to target a middle order that includes KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, both of whom are looking to find their feet in ODIs.
Possible Playing 11
Rishabh Pant had a tough match with the gloves in the fourth ODI, but will get another chance with MS Dhoni rested. Despite an incredible defeat in Mohali, India might not change too much in their last ODI before the World Cup.
India: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. KL Rahul, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Kedar Jadhav, 7. Vijay Shankar, 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9. Yuzvendra Chahal, 10. Kuldeep Yadav, 11. Jasprit Bumrah/Mohammed Shami

Dream11 Prediction
Key stats and points:
- The last ODI at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium was back in 2016. New Zealand won by six runs after scoring 242/9.
- The pitch for the 5th ODI is expected to be a belter, with dew unlikely to play a factor.
- Virat Kohli picked up a rare low score last time out. However, his record at this ground is strong, averaging 50.50 in five innings.
- Alex Carey is worth a pick, with the Australian keeper-batsman making a start in each game this series: 36*, 22, 21*, 21. Rishabh Pant is still to truly fire for India in coloured clothing, but has immense talent, firing at this ground for Delhi in the IPL.
- Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have played just the one match each at this ground.
- After a tough summer, Usman Khawaja has burst into life. His scores this series: 50, 38, 104, 91.
- Aaron Finch found some runs in Ranchi, but he inspires no confidence against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kumar has dismissed Finch in all four innings this year.
- Shaun Marsh, despite his struggles, remains a fine ODI player for Australia. However, Ashton Turner, who also promised on debut, is mighty difficult to ignore.
- Pat Cummins has 12 wickets in his last three ODIs.

Match Prediction
Wow, how hard is this to pick?
India began this series as hot favourites. Now, while they remain favourites, the result is nowhere near as certain.
Australia have been outstanding, and I predict they will be very good again. However, India at home might just pip them in a pressure game.
Will be cheering for Australia, but there is no doubt India will be a tough beat.
