The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup has been graced by several outstanding all-round performances over the years. But the rare feat of scoring a half-century and claiming at least three wickets in the same match has been achieved by only a select group of players.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana joined this elite list following her heroic performance against South Africa in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. Although Pakistan lost, Sana produced one of the finest individual displays in the tournament’s history, almost single-handedly pulling off an unlikely victory.

Fatima Sana and Shafali Verma achieve feat on the same day: June 17 2026
What makes Sana’s performance particularly remarkable is the context. With wickets falling regularly around her, a total well below 100 seemed likely. However, her counter-attacking approach revived the innings and helped Pakistan achieve a respectable score of 126.
The responsibility of leading Pakistan’s fight was almost entirely shouldered by Sana. After top-scoring with the bat, she also registered the most successful bowling figures of the match for Pakistan. A near-impossible victory was almost engineered, and she further reinforced her status as one of the leading all-rounders in women’s cricket.

On the same day, Shafali Verma struck 55 off 38 balls and took 3/20 for India against Netherlands. She combined with Smriti Mandhana for a 115-run opening stand, setting the platform for India’s big total of 209/5. With the ball, Verma’s offbreaks provided Harmanpreet Kaur with another solid bowling option, keeping things tight and taking wickets along the way, including the final two to seal a big win.
Shafali was full of praise for Mandhana in the post-match press conference.
“She [Mandhana] keeps advising me, because I feel like hitting a six every ball, but she’s the one who keeps me calm, tells me loose balls will come and I have to play along the ground too,” Shafali said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
“So she keeps me calm and she spoke very well with me today, she was making me understand on every ball. So it felt great, we had a 100-plus partnership and we are trying to do the same in the upcoming matches.”
