Pakistan’s 2024 T20 World Cup campaign is already hanging by a thread after losing to Associate nation United States (USA) of America in Dallas. It was a poor, sloppy performance from Babar Azam’s team, with an underwhelming batting display followed by more underwhelming performances with the ball and in the field, especially under pressure.
Social media went into meltdown. Fans, pundits, and former players ripped into the Pakistani cricket team, with a mixture of criticism and banter after another disappointing day for the men in green in a World Cup game.

“Losing to plumbers and farmers is one thing. How do you lose to software engineers,” tweeted one fan. Other fans took the opportunity to revisit Pakistan’s training camp from earlier in the year.
Pakistan have it all to do. They need to beat India next in New York to stay in touch. If they lose, they will need to beat Canada and Ireland, and hope other results go their way.
If Pakistan don’t go through, it will surely go down as one of their biggest disappointments. However, the Pakistan cricket team may be trolled today, but they have it in them to be celebrated in a few days’ time. The unpredictability and up-and-down nature of the Pakistan team means you can never turn away.
Time will tell to see how they respond.
