Cricket News: Sydney weather forecast for IND vs NED World Cup match | SCG weather forecast for India vs Netherlands on October 27
Nearly 300mm of rain has fallen in Sydney so far in October, the most in 165 years of record-keeping. However, the weather forecast for the South Africa-Bangladesh, India-Netherlands games at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Thursday is promising, a welcome relief for cricket fans after the rain also stayed away for the Super 12s opener between Australia and New Zealand last week.
India will be looking to build on their thrilling four-wicket win over Pakistan, led by one of the all-time knocks by the great Virat Kohli. Netherlands, on the other hand, will be aiming for a better performance than the disappointing display they produced against Bangladesh in a nine-run defeat at Hobart on Monday.
Sydney weather looks relatively promising for SA vs BAN, IND vs NED
A top of 27 degrees is forecast, according to the Bureau of Meterology. There is a medium (40%) chance of showers in the afternoon and evening, but the possible rainfall for the day is expected to range between just 0-1mm, down from 0-3mm earlier in the week.
AccuWeather also lists a possible shower for Sydney on Thursday. The highest chance of precipitation (51%) is at about 2pm, which is the start of the South Africa vs Bangladesh game. This then comes down to 34% by the 6pm start time for India vs Netherlands. By 8pm, the chance of precipitation is 0%, so we should see a result in this match.
Rohit Sharma’s team are very strong favourites to win this contest. A sea of blue is expected at the SCG, as is often the case when India plays in Sydney. Should they achieve victory, they will move to four points and take a big step towards Semi Finals’ qualification, especially after South Africa were cruelly denied a guaranteed win against Zimbabwe due to rain.
