Twitter reactions as KKR roll RCB for 92 | Twitter reactions at KKR thump RCB by wickets after bowling them out for 92
Royal Challengers Bangalore went into their first game of phase 2 IPL 2021 with the news of Virat Kohli stepping down as their skipper at the end of the season. Nonetheless, they looked like a confident unit going into the game.
However, that bubble was burst rather quickly when Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders did everything right and the bowlers wreaked havoc at Abu Dhabi.
It looked like there was a steady partnership building between Padikkal and Bharat for the second wicket but after Padikkal fell to Ferguson on the last ball of the powerplay, it all went downhill from there. Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarthy dealt the most damage to RCB with each grabbing 3 wickets and an economy of less than 3.50.
Everyone else chipped in with a wicket or two and bowled out RCB for 92. None of the KKR bowlers went over a run rate of 6 from their allotted 4 overs. Indian fans will be particularly happy looking at Varun Chakravarthy and the way he has hit his stride in the UAE given he is part of the Indian contingent for the T20 World Cup next month in the same country.
After RCB were bowled out, KKR’s top 3 did not waste any time and hit the ground running. Opening pair of Gill and Venkatesh Iyer, who was playing his debut game, looked at ease and hammered the RCB bowlers all around the park especially Kyle Jamieson who went at a run rate of 13 from his 2 overs. Venkatesh Iyer looked very comfortable at the crease in his first game and played some shots that were pleasing to the eye.
Talking about the loss at the end of match presentation, Virat Kohli said, “We have five win from eight, we expect a loss here and there, it’s part and parcel, need to be professional, stick to our strengths and execute our plans. We have absolute confidence in our squad to pull up next game onwards and put in strong performances.”
The reactions on twitter though were not so positive for RCB. Have a look at some of the reactions to the loss.
