Bengaluru weather forecast for RCB vs CSK match

The Bengaluru weather is in the spotlight ahead of the blockbuster clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Rain has been falling consistently in Bengaluru in recent days, and more is forecast for the rest of this week. This includes Saturday, which is when the big match is scheduled to take place.

Bengaluru weather: Rain forecast to fall on day of RCB vs CSK match

According to AccuWeather, up to 8.4mm of rain is expected to fall during the day in Bengaluru. The platform also predicts 7.2mm to fall in the evening period, but it also states only a 47% chance of precipitation.

Evening weather forecast in Bengaluru on May 18

According to the hourly forecast, there is a 34% chance of precipitation from 7-9pm, which then increases to 37%. From 10-11pm, the chances increase to around 50%. However, this may change closer to the time.

If it does rain then stop, the ground can be readied in quick time as the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has an excellent drainage system.

Hourly weather forecast in Bengaluru on May 18

Interestingly, rain was expected in Bengaluru at a very similar juncture in IPL 2023. RCB took on Gujarat Titans in the final game of the regular season, whereby Faf du Plessis’ team had to win to qualify for the playoffs. The rain stayed away as GT prevailed thanks to a superb Shubman Gill ton.

This upcoming RCB-CSK clash holds huge importance, with the match effectively a playoff before the playoffs. Should RCB win, they could leapfrog CSK provided they win by a big enough margin to overtake them on net run rate. Another scenario is if SRH lose their remaining two games against GT and PBKS respectively, both RCB and CSK could make the playoffs.

If it’s a no result, CSK will go through with 15 points and RCB will unfortunately be eliminated with 13 points.

Shubman Gill said a miracle was still possible. However, Gujarat Titans qualifying to the playoffs from here will be the miracle to end miracles. They have a net run rate of -1.063 with SRH currently in fourth with 0.406.

However, expect GT to play with freedom again. They turned it on against CSK last time out, smashing 231 courtesy of an incredible opening stand of 210 between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, they are aiming to seal a top two spot. Their fast starts and impactful batting in the middle overs has set them up for success, and more of the same is on the agenda here as they can lock up first place.

Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad Pitch Report and Weather

It was a cracking batting surface last time out as GT struck 231/3. However, there was some early movement with the new ball in the second innings, so batting first can be a viable option.

Another very hot and clear evening is forecast.

CSK vs RR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2024 61st Match

CSK vs RR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips – IPL 2024 61st Match | CSK vs RR Dream11 Prediction Today | Chepauk Pitch Report

60 games and still as many as eight teams are in the playoffs race as we go into the business end of the tournament. GT, last Friday, made the job tough for CSK with a comprehensive win. As a result, CSK are suddenly in some trouble, with defeat today possibly shifting them outside the top four with DC and RCB to meet later.

In the series, RR awaits them in an epic encounter at Chennai. With 16 points already in the account, the Royals’ Camp still has three more games in hand to make them count and try to seal a top two spot. But they are coming with two back-to-back failures while chasing high scores. Nevertheless, they are in exceptional form this season and would look to continue in their merry way.

As the play-offs scenarios work out, all other adversaries in the league would be cheering for RR to win as CSK’s win may spoil their hopes. This promises to be a cracking game indeed.

IPL 2024 61st Match: CSK vs RR Possible Playing XIIs

It will be fascinating to see if CSK continues with Rahane in a must win game or welcomes back Sameer Rizvi in the playing XII.

CSK: 1. Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), 2. Rachin Ravindra, 3. Ajinkya Rahane/Sameer Rizvi, 4. Daryl Mitchell, 5. Moeen Ali, 6. Shivam Dube, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. MS Dhoni (wk), 9. Mitchell Santner, 10. Shardul Thakur, 11. Tushar Deshpande, 12. Simarjeet Singh/Mukesh Chaudhary

RR: 1. Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2. Jos Buttler, 3. Sanju Samson (c & wk), 4. Riyan Parag, 5. Donovan Ferreira, 6. Shubham Dubey, 7. Rovman Powell, 8. Ravichandran Ashwin, 9. Trent Boult, 10. Avesh Khan, 11. Yuzvendra Chahal, 12. Sandeep Sharma

Fantasy Cricket Tips for CSK vs RR: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Chennai Super Kings:

  • Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is once again having a delightful season as he has hammered 541 runs at an average of 54.10. He is the highest run scorer at M A Chidambaram Stadium.
  • Rachin Ravindra was unlucky to get run out on his return. But with the temperament and quality he has, one can expect him to come good soon. Playing at Chepauk, he strikes at 227 & has made 98 runs in three innings.
  • CSK middle order has a backbone of two big hitters in Daryl Mitchell and Shivam Dube who will be challenged by a couple of quality spinners. Collectively their average against right arm spinners is over 48.
  • In this season of IPL, Dube has scored 218 runs at Chennai averaging 54.5 with SR of 186.
  • Ravindra Jadeja has a very decent record against Rajasthan Royals as he has scalped 21 wickets with the ball and has also made 242 runs at an average of 48.
  • Sanju Samson vs Jadeja: 73 runs off 51 balls with 3 dismissals.
  • Mitchell Santner combo pack of his economical bowling, great batting and mind blowing fielding adds much value to the side. Bowling at Chepauk, his economy rate is just six and has scalped three wickets in three innings.
  • Sanju Samson vs Mitchell Santner: 1 run off 7 balls with 2 dismissals.

Rajasthan Royals:

  • Jos Buttler has looked out of form in recent two games but still he has wagered 338 runs thus far. Playing against CSK, he has scored 346 runs at an average of 49.4 and SR of 145.
  • On the other hand, his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal also has average and strike rate of 40.4 & 165.6 respectively playing against Super Kings. If CSK bowlers fail to take early wickets, openers can once again cause a loss like last game.
  • Royals’ No.3 and No.4 batters have been one of main reasons for their success this season as Sanju Samson & Riyan Parag have scored 471 & 436 runs respectively.
  • Playing at his home ground, R Ashwin has as many as 54 wickets in T20 games thus far. He also had a terrific spell of 3/24 in the last game. With 5 left handers in CSK batting lineup, he can be the game changer for his side.
  • Ajinkya Rahane vs Ashwin: 60 runs off 48 balls with 6 dismissals.
  • Moeen Ali vs Ashwin: 53 runs off 40 balls with 2 dismissals.
  • Trent Boult can be the biggest threat for his opposition on his day with his fiery left arm pace. He has scalped 13 wickets against CSK thus far.

  • Riyan Parag vs CSK: 35 runs off 35 balls, Avg 11.7, Strike Rate 100.

MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai Pitch Report and Weather

Historically, Chepauk favors spinners and this being an afternoon game it will help them more. 183 is average first innings score here in 2024 and chasing teams have won four games out of six in this season. Like the trend, we can experience one more high scoring game.

Reactions to Jimmy Anderson announcing his retirement from Test cricket

Cricket News: Widespread reaction to Jimmy Anderson announcing his retirement from Test cricket following first Test against West Indies

James Anderson’s 188th Test will be his last. The legendary pace bowler took to Instagram to announce his retirement following England’s first Test against the West Indies at Lord’s, which is where his career began 21 years ago.

“Hi everyone. Just a note to say that the first Test of the summer at Lord’s will be my last Test,” Anderson wrote in a post.

“It’s been an incredible 20 years representing my country, playing the game I’ve loved since I was a kid. I’m going to miss walking out for England so much. But I know the time is right to step aside and let others realise their dreams just like I got to, because there is no greater feeling.”

Anderson continued, “I couldn’t have done it without the love and support of Daniella, Lola, Ruby and my parents. A huge thank you to them. Also, thank you to the players and coaches who have made this the best job in the world.”

“I’m excited for the new challenges that lie ahead, as well as filling my days with even more golf.”

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, it’s always meant a lot, even if my face often doesn’t show it.”

“See you at the Test.”

To this day, it is still hard to believe Anderson made his debut way back in 2003. For context, Facebook didn’t exist, while YouTube was still over two years away. The first iPhone was launched in 2007. The world underwent a huge digital transformation, as Anderson continued to go from strength to strength with his magnificent skill on display time and again.

Only Sachin Tendulkar has played more Tests than Anderson. Also, he has the most wickets of any pace bowler in history, becoming the first to notch 700. Part of Anderson’s remarkable journey is his record after turning 35, with 220 wickets at an average of 22.90, including 10 five-wicket hauls.

GT vs CSK Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2024 59th Match

GT vs CSK Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips – IPL 2024 59th Match | GT vs CSK Dream11 Prediction Today | Ahmedabad Pitch Report

Gujarat Titans may be all but out of playoffs contention, but they can still play spoilsport. Chennai Super Kings sit in the top four, but are in a precarious position with in-form Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru hot on their heels.

GT have won just two of their past eight games to sit bottom of the table. The loss of Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya was expected to have an impact, but perhaps not to this extent. It has been a disappointing season indeed, with lack of batting and bowling impact leaving them behind.

However, today is a chance to get it all right against a CSK side that needs to hold its nerve. They have been up-and-down in recent times, with victory last time out against Punjab Kings despite falling into early batting trouble. With their strong net run rate of 0.700, a win here will help them take a huge step towards the playoffs.

IPL 2024 59th Match: GT vs CSK Possible Playing XIIs

GT have used 22 players this season. It’s the joint-most.

Gujarat Titans: 1. Shubman Gill (c), 2. Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 3. B Sai Sudharsan, 4. M Shahrukh Khan, 5. David Miller, 6. Vijay Shankar, 7. Rahul Tewatia, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Mohit Sharma, 10. Noor Ahmad, 11. Josh Little/Azmatullah Omarzai, 12. R Sai Kishore/Sandeep Warrier

CSK’s attack has been pulled apart due to injuries and other commitments. Matheesha Pathirana, Mustafizur Rahman and Deepak Chahar are unavailable.

Chennai Super Kings: 1. Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), 2. Ajinkya Rahane, 3. Daryl Mitchell, 4. Shivam Dube, 5. Moeen Ali, 6. Ravindra Jadeja, 7. MS Dhoni (wk), 8. Mitchell Santner, 9. Shardul Thakur, 10. Tushar Deshpande, 11. Richard Gleeson, 12. Simarjeet Singh

Fantasy Cricket Tips for GT vs CSK: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Gujarat Titans:

  • Shubman Gill has 170 runs in six games against CSK since the start of 2022 (avg. 28.33, SR 145.30). He will be seeking to improve this against a much-changed CSK attack.
  • Gill at Ahmedabad is always a good chance of scoring. He has 975 T20 runs on this ground at an average of 69.64 and strike rate of 160.89.
  • Sai Sudharsan is GT’s leading run-scorer this season with 424. He has struck a 30+ score in nine of the 11 matches in IPL 2024.
  • In three matches against CSK, Sudharsan has struck 155 runs at an average of 51.67 and strike rate of 163.16. This includes a score of 96.
  • David Miller is key for GT’s finishing. Since the start of 2022, he has hit 134 runs at an average of 67.00 and strike rate of 144.09 against CSK.
  • Rashid Khan strikes at 184.09 with the bat in the last three seasons against CSK. He has taken six wickets in six games in this period, but concedes 9.39 an over.
  • GT would be wise to use Rashid against Ajinkya Rahane, who has struggled against spin this season. He has dismissed Rahane once in 44 balls overall in the IPL (58 runs).

Chennai Super Kings:

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad has hit 108*, 98, 62 and 32 in his last four games. Against GT, Gaikwad has struck 350 runs in six matches at an average of 58.33 and strike rate of 144.03.
  • Gaikwad has smashed 108 runs off 66 balls against Rashid Khan in the IPL (two dismissals).
  • Shivam Dube has scored two golden ducks in a row. Is this the game he bounces back? He hit a 23-ball 51 against GT earlier this season.
  • Ravindra Jadeja has taken five wickets in five games against GT. He also strikes at 171.79 with the bat.
  • Jadeja has scored 39 runs off 21 balls against Mohit Sharma without dismissal.
  • Shardul Thakur is key upfront. He has dismissed Shubman Gill twice in 31 balls, conceding just 36 runs.

Other Stats, Facts & Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 6, GT 3, CSK 3.
  • Shubman Gill has scored 51 off 32 balls against Tushar Deshpande (one dismissal).
  • Rashid Khan (bowling) vs Moeen Ali (batting): 48 balls, 70 runs, four wickets.
  • Mohit Sharma has gone wicketless in his past three games.

Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad Pitch Report and Weather

Scores have fluctuated this season, but that’s been mainly due to GT’s inconsistency with the bat. Last game, RCB chased down GT’s 200 with a huge four overs to spare courtesy of a Will Jacks ton.

Expect a good batting track. A very hot and clear evening is forecast.

Jake Fraser-McGurk reacts to missing out on Australia’s T20 World Cup squad

Cricket News: Talented batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk has shared his thoughts after missing Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup

Young gun Jake Fraser-McGurk has shared his thoughts after missing Australia’s 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. Speaking to the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast, the talented batsman admitted that it would have been very difficult to displace any of the players set to bat in the top seven.

“The communication was really good. There’s two ways you can look at it. You can look at it through, ‘This is what I’ve done to prove my case,’ and then there’s also, ‘Look, a month and a half ago I wasn’t even in the picture,’” he said.

World Cup cricket is a lot different to IPL and franchise cricket – Jake Fraser-McGurk

Fraser-McGurk has set the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) alight with his batting exploits. His first six matches yielded 259 runs at an extraordinary strike rate of 233.33, headlined by his magnificent 27-ball 84 against Mumbai Indians.

However, selectors decided against picking Fraser-McGurk, who is yet to play a T20 International. Also, the batsman himself said that the top three – where he does his best work – is set in stone.

“They [the selectors] probably had a good idea of what it [the squad] was a month-and-a-half ago trying to build that, how they can get the connection in that team,” he said.

“And it’s also hard to fit in. You’ve got David Warner, our best opener ever in three formats. You’ve got Travis Head, who’s lighting it up over here and has lit up for the past 18 months. And then Mitch Marsh is the same and he’s also the captain.”

RELATED: Why isn’t Jake Fraser-McGurk in Australia’s T20 World Cup squad?

Fraser-McGurk also added that he can’t see himself batting at five or six given the resources Australia has in that area. Also, he has batted just 14 times from numbers four to seven, with 27 knocks in the top three.

“I can’t really see myself batting five or six because we’re pretty set there with Timmy David, Cam Green those sort of blokes. So that’s the way I think about it. That’s fine. There’s hopefully going to be more time for that,” he said.

“And if I do somehow get a travelling reserve [spot] then great, I can get a good experience there or something like that. But yeah, it didn’t really bother me a hell of a lot because I wasn’t in this position to sort of… feel like I’ve earned that yet.

“World Cup cricket is a lot different to IPL and franchise cricket.”

The selectors came in for criticism from fans regarding Fraser-McGurk’s ommission. However, there is little doubt his chances are coming with David Warner’s impending retirement.

The 22-year-old has played two ODIs so far, headline by an 18-ball 41 against West Indies earlier this year. With the 2025 ODI Champions Trophy, 2026 T20 World Cup, and 2027 ODI World Cup to come, Fraser-McGurk has plenty of time and opportunities ahead to thrive at international level.

DC vs RR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2024 56th Match

DC vs RR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips – IPL 2024 56th Match | DC vs RR Dream11 Prediction Today | Delhi Pitch Report

Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital city of India as the Indian Premier League shifts towards its business end. With RR almost qualified for the playoffs; DC have a lot to play for as their chances for qualifications depend upon ifs and buts.

Capitals have managed to win five games out of 11, and hence three wins in three games would be their aim ideally. The Rishabh Pant-led team is in fine form as they have won four games out of the last six they’ve played.

On the other hand, Royals’ camp is one of the happier sides this season as they have been in top two for most of the campaign. Experiencing 10 games so far, they have lost just a couple of times. The pink side would be having an eye at finishing in the top two for extra benefit in the playoffs.

IPL 2024 56th Match: DC vs RR Possible Playing XIIs

Lizaad Williams can make way for either of Anrich Nortje or Gulbadin Naib.

Delhi Capitals: 1. Prithvi Shaw/Kumar Kushagra, 2. Jake Fraser-McGurk, 3. Abhishek Porel, 4. Shai Hope, 5. Rishabh Pant (c & wk), 6. Tristan Stubbs, 7. Axar Patel, 8. Kuldeep Yadav, 9. Anrich Nortje/Gulbadin Naib, 10. Rasikh Dar Salam, 11. Khaleel Ahmed, 12. Mukesh Kumar

Rajasthan Royals: 1. Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2. Jos Buttler, 3. Sanju Samson (c & wk), 4. Riyan Parag, 5. Dhruv Jurel, 6. Shimron Hetmyer, 7. Rovman Powell, 8. Ravichandran Ashwin, 9. Avesh Khan, 10. Trent Boult, 11. Yuzvendra Chahal, 12. Sandeep Sharma

Fantasy Cricket Tips for DC vs RR: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Arun Jaitley Delhi Pitch Report and Weather

A total 1413 runs have been scored in just 3 games at Arun Jaitley Stadium this season. 266, 224, 257 are the first innings scores, with all three successfully defended.

Nevertheless, the margin of victory was not very high. This strongly suggests that we can expect another run-fest at Delhi. With the short boundaries, plenty of runs are on offer but bowlers sticking at their strengths may succeed here.

Temperature between 37-40 degrees celsius is forecast. Dew could be a factor so the toss winning captain may prefer to chase.

RCB vs GT Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips – IPL 2024 52nd Match | RCB vs GT Dream11 Prediction Today | Bengaluru Pitch Report

Last season, Gujarat Titans won at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to stop Royal Challengers Bengaluru from qualifying for the playoffs. Now, both teams enter this interesting encounter in must-win circumstances, with the season slipping away.

RCB, however, enter with the momentum. They have won their past two matches, including dispatching GT last weekend courtesy of an incredible onslaught by Will Jacks. But, whether RCB can make the M Chinnaswamy count in their favour will be key as they have often struggled here this season.

For GT, not only must they win, but they need to boost their net run rate of -1.113. Victory here puts them just two points outside the top four, so composure under pressure is vital.

Pressures of international cricket & IPL are different – Ajit Agarkar

Cricket News: Chairman of Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar shares the thought behind Virat Kohli in the India squad

Ajit Agarkar, former India fast bowler and current Chairman of the Senior Selection Committee, has said the selection of Virat Kohli in the T20 World Cup squad comes down to having experience at the top level. He said that there remains a gap between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and international cricket, so it is important not to discount all senior players.

“With regards to how it’s going in the IPL, you’re still going to a World Cup, it’s still international cricket” Agarkar said. “There is still that gap there, so you’ve got to prepare knowing there is that gap there, and that’s where experience does matter a lot.”

“You try and take the positives that are happening in the IPL. Some of the form of the guys, the new guys coming through,” he continued. “But, at the end of the day, when you turn up for a World Cup game, the pressures are a little bit different.”

No concerns around Virat Kohli’s strike rate – Ajit Agarkar

There has been lots of debate around Virat Kohli’s strike rate and approach in this season’s IPL. Among some quality knocks such as his 44-ball 70* against GT, Kohli also scored the equal-slowest IPL hundred and hit 51 off 43 balls on a flat pitch in Hyderabad, which came in for criticism from fans and pundits.

However, Kohli’s form overall has been excellent. In the first 10 games of IPL 2024, the RCB opener struck 500 runs at an average of 71.42 and strike rate of 147.79 to be well in contention for the Orange Cap.

It is a sentiment that Agarkar echoed. He said there have been no discussions around Kohli’s strike rate.

“I don’t think we have been discussing it [Kohli’s strike rate]”, Agarkar said. “He’s been in great form fortunately in the IPL, so no concerns there at all.”

Kohli has an outstanding record in T20 World Cups. In 25 innings, he has struck 1,141 runs at an average of 81.5 and strike rate of 131.3 with 14 50+ scores. This includes the memorable and scarcely-believable 82* against Pakistan in the last edition in 2022.

Agarkar also added that he still feels India are well equipped to compete even in high-scoring games. This is despite the controversial call to name specialist finisher Rinku Singh among the reserves.

“If the tournament does turn out like the IPL where 220 plays 220, I think we still have enough in the team, the balance, the power… that you can match that.”

India’s World Cup campaign begins on Wednesday 5th June against Ireland in New York.

Will Pucovski may have played his last game of cricket as concussion symptoms linger

Cricket News: The future of Will Pucovski to be decided in the coming weeks after the batsman suffered another concussion back in March

Will Pucosvki may have played his last game of cricket after the Victoria batsman was suffering from concussion symptoms six weeks after being struck in a Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania in Hobart two months ago.

On March 3, Pucovski was hit by a Riley Meredith bouncer, ending his Australian domestic season. Also, he was pencilled in to feature for Leicestershire in the County Championship, but had to withdraw.

Latest Will Pucovski concussion particularly concerning for experts

It is understood that a panel, comprising of Cricket Australia (CA), Cricket Victoria (CV) and independent medical experts, is assessing Pucovski’s situation and mapping out his future. The process had to be delayed due to the fact that the batsman was still experiencing concussion symptoms.

According to reports, the symptoms have eased. However, questions remain on Pucovski’s cricketing future. The 26-year-old has now suffered 12 concussions, with six coming since 2017, and medical experts are seriously concerned with how long the symptoms have lingered since the incident.

Indeed, a decision about his future will take into account not only his physical wellbeing, but mental also. Earlier this year, Pucovski said the concussions have contributed to his mental health issues, which forced him to take breaks throughout his career.

Speaking to the Vic State Cricket podcast, Pucovski said “I sort of link the mental health stuff back to my first concussion…which was when I was about 15 or 16. I have a lot of concussion symptoms that over a seven or eight year period, actually never subsided.

“The mental health has been a much bigger issue for me than even the concussions. I don’t fear for my long-term health, it’s more the mental health side that’s been the tougher part.”

Pucovski also revealed he’d fail concussion tests regardless of whether he was hit in the head or not. He spoke of how he’s had to get used to dealing with the challenges.

“You just sort of got used to having them in a way,” he added. “The brain’s pretty amazing and can find ways to adapt. I would fail concussion tests in the exact same way every single time, regardless of whether I had been hit in the head, and that was over a seven or eight year period.”

Touted as a long-term Test opener for Australia, it’d be a great disappointment if Will Pucovski has played his last game. He impressed in his lone Test, hitting 62 against India at the SCG in 2021. He currently has 2,350 First Class runs at an average of 45.19, with nine fifties and seven hundreds in 36 matches.

However, Pucovski has performed nicely as a commentator in the Big Bash League for Channel 7, which may be one of the ways he remains in the game if he stops playing.
